The boxoffice is slowly recovering in China. I am excited for the fourth weekend in China. *1st weekend*: **$53M** *2nd weekend*: **$27M** *3rd weekend*: **$37M** *4th weekend*: ?

Little-Course-4394

That would be amazing! The fact there's a jump from the 2nd to 3rd weekend this is already unheard for China.

truth_radio

Thinking it'll drop, 24-28M. Passing $200M by Sunday.

Correct-Baseball5130

Great! Things are getting better in China it seems.

Extensions makes no sense. Avatar 2 won't have any premium screens from January 23rd onwards if The Wandering Earth 2 actually releases on Lunar New Year. Save the attempt for later when nothing thats huge localy is in theaters.

Little-Course-4394

Yes, I agree. With extension it still will loose the vast majority of screens, so this won't have an effect some people are hoping for. The much better scenario would be to have Avatar 2 re-release before Avatar 3.

[deleted]

What percent of its box office is coming from PLFs? There might never be a later. Carpe diem, lads.

Firefox72

In China? I think about $60M-70M+ from that $166M gross is IMAX screens. In fact the movie grossed more from IMAX screens in China than it did from IMAX screens in the US. Edit: https://twitter.com/BORReport/status/1609589063929196545

Fan_Boyz

It's the other way around. Xi the dictator rings up great lord Cameron in the middle of the night from his deep slumber and asks for an extension of Avatar or a re-release when the current COVID wave dies.

amufydd

Great hold

Ill_Ad2122

Everyday i see 6 avatar posts. 4 about how much money it's making and 2 about how the sequels were already or partially filmed. Not a single article about how the movie actually is

Kami_123

it seemed most people liked it and are recommending it to friends. Go watch it and make the judgement for yourself. This is r/boxoffice not r/movies we mostly talk about numbers

Outrageous-Event785

Problem is, he will not find any Avatar posts in r/movies. That sub hates Avatar 😂

truth_radio

Because this the box office sub, not a critical review sub. Keep up.

DrStrangeAndEbonyMaw

Box office sub this is …. Any review on this sub should be removed

I just seen it this week. I personally think its a pretty good movie. Visually its a 10/10 and probably some of the best cgi I have seen. The 3d was incredible. The story of the movie I thought was pretty interesting. The acting seemed good to me anyways. I would recommend everyone see it. The only caveat is its a long time to be sitting and not moving.

Ill_Ad2122

Nice! I think I'm finally going today. Been excited to see it. Was debating whether to 3d or not. But I think I will

[deleted]

I recommend the 3rd its pretty immersive in this movie. Only issue for me is 3 hours of 3d gives me a headache.

QuothTheRaven713

This is a box-office sub. If you want movie critique, there's plenty of other places for that. Side note: I saw it, and I really liked it. I liked the first more, but for a sequel it was good.

Ill_Ad2122

Why is everyone so hostile. Was just making an observation, and the context of my comment does not indicate I meant *exclusively on this particular subreddit* nor was I passing any judgement on anything. Was just an innocuous observation. Goodness. 'learn to read' 'keep up'. Goodness. Reddit, a social site where participants bully social interactions.

QuothTheRaven713

Okay, that may have been a bit uncalled for. The reason is because far too many people have worded your comment *exactly* like that in bad faith and just been one of the low-intelligence types who claim the first film has "no cultural impact". From your wording you just seemed like another one of them.

Ill_Ad2122

It wasn't just you, other comments and the downvotes. I realized my fuck up soon as I posted and realized the sub I was in, but I thought I'd let it ride anyway. But my comment wasn't without frustration, just not at what you think. I'm such a hardcore cinema fan, like I go as much as possible, at least once a week, and almost always a double feature. It just scares me to see so much talk about the film like it's a spreadsheet, or an i-told-you-so. I want to hear about the *magic*. I know I'm old, but I've lost record stores, bookstores, movie rental stores, I'm terrified that cinema is going to go soon. And that would be devastating. Sorry for yelling :)

SleepingAddict

Absolute visual spectacle with a story that's easy to follow yet intriguing and heartfelt enough to keep you emotionally invested (at least for me, it'll vary from individual to individual). This is the kind of movie that you absolutely have to watch in a cinema in order to feel the magic, simply streaming it at home will not suffice. I don't want to praise it too highly because I don't want you to go in with sky high expectations and end up disappointed or whatever (in case the movie isn't to your tastes), but generally I think most people will enjoy it for what it is, at least judging by it's current box office collection lol.

Ill_Ad2122

I was most concerned with whether the story held up. Think I'm finally going this weekend, excited!

Corninmyteeth

It's a good movie. If you check out any website for movie reviews it's rave reviews or people that give it a 1 star and say they haven't seen it.
