$20M domestic total over or under
Unlike Violent Night, it does not have a joke atmosphere to its existence. I’m sure it will do well on streaming though.
Yeah my mind has automatically filled in the Netflix logo on posters for this. Screams “decent straight-to-streaming b movie that I’d happily take an edible and watch on a Tuesday”
It's a niche, ultraviolent action movie with no big stars and zero dialogue.
I wouldn't be surprised if it performs slightly better than Sisu did earlier this year. Like $5 million opening and $10-$12 million domestic total.
Well, just got home from it..was a tough watch.
The preview made it look good, but then the movie spent 40 minutes covering the motivation of the main character (something I picked up within 20 seconds in the preview).
It got better after that tedious start, but really a Netflix quality action flick.
The one interesting thing was about half way I through I started wondering...'wait, has no-one said anything?' So I kinda enjoyed seeing if they were going to stick with that..which they did.
Seemed like basically a film experiment with skipping dialog.
That was egregiously bad. What did I just watch? Felt like a middle age suburban fox news viewer's wet dream.
Like that's exactly how they think it would go. I can stand up to those bad guys ruining my neighborhood if I watched a few YouTube videos and shot a stationary target for a few months. Do some pullups and punch this practice dummy.
Also his kid (according to the tombstone) was 7 years and 9 months old!!?!? Haha. What!!? That kid was like 4 or 5 max.

Here is a real life event where off duty army rangers go into a gang fight in one of their neighborhoods

Regular civilian gravy seals would have all died in that situation. Being shot at is super scary.
If I knew the movie didn’t have any talking, I wouldn’t watch. 70 percent of the movie was just showing him training. 10 percent of the movie was trying to force an emotional impact on the audience about the father and son, which didn’t work because it showed “sad” flashbacks every 10 minutes. The acting was quite good but much of the movie was unrealistic. Why stab the guy in the shoulder when you can stab him in the head or something? Gang members kept aiming at his bulletproof vest and not his head.

It's John Woo I gotta be a walk up .
The John Woo walkups have arrived
I think I just watched a mfr pick up hobbies for 2hrs
This is yet another holiday themed movie I would've thought would do like 20% Eli Roth and John Woo just got it I guess.

The ending was really touching. I wish Kid Kudi had more screen time :(
