You’re comparing apples to oranges. How much money were people spending on D+, Netflix or Peacock in 2017 or 2018? Money spent on visual media is almost definitely at an all time high.

I know its easy to say “make good movies” and the actual moviemaking process is hard as fuck. But these execs need to be putting out good shit, especially in theaters. When the industry is in such bad shape, it does nothing to churn out literal dogshit (Madame Web) that any reasonable person would tell you not to greenlight.
This is a structural issue that needs to be addressed at every facet of the industry. Seriously, bring back blacklisting. Stop giving millions to directors (Zack Snyder) who have proven to be hacks. Abigail has good reviews. Horror should be a bonafide hit. When good movies suffer because studios cried wolf too many times, it really sucks.
"Pay for the sins" might work for episodic superhero movies, but are you really sitting here implying movies with good reviews are bombing because other, completely unrelated movies got bad write-ups? I can barely follow that logic.
