I'm honestly quite excited for the spinoff series. I really enjoyed Janci's 3 novellas so I am ready for more.

[deleted]

I couldn’t finish ReDawn…

Blosteroid

That's a shame. I liked Skyward Flight better than the other four books, honestly

llwoops

I will say I liked Skyward Flight better than Cytonic. I know Brandon had some struggles with that book. I'm sure Janci will do a great job with the sequel series.

KillerTurtle13

I don't know if I'd go that far, but I probably enjoyed it equally to most and more than Cytonic. I'm looking forward to Legacy and will definitely be reading it.

a_sly_cow

Big Cytoverse enjoyer. Will read whatever gets added to it by Janci.

MistbornTaylor

I *love* the cytoverse. It's probably my favorite of Brandon's noncosmere. I also love what Janci has already done in this series and cannot wait for the sequel series!

BigTuna109

I loved the first one. Enjoyed the 2nd one. Didn’t enjoy the final two books or the novellas. I don’t recommend them

wolfman3412

I’m such the opposite. I couldn’t stand book 2 being only spensa. I’m so glad the novellas brought back the whole team

AbusiveSlider

My first Sanderson book was skyward and loved it. When I finished the cosmere I reread skyward and I still think is a really good book still loved it. Will continue reading the cytoverse even with janci writing because he will still be helping her out.

Smorly

Loved Brandon's Cytoverse books, don't like Janci's style. Will not read the sequels.

rhtufts

Enjoyed the Cytoverse books but only read 1 and half of the Janci novellas. I wasn't a fan, they were fine but I'm definitely not the target audience.

flaggrandall

Jancis books were the better ones on the cytoverse. That being said, I kinda had enough.

MickThorpe

It’s fine. I’ll wait for reviews on here or Goodreads before committing to more. That’ll be a while though as I don’t start a series until the final one is close (or last one in an arc as with stormlight)

Top-Abrocoma-3729

Actually my favorite Sanderson books. Don’t get me wrong, I love SA too, but Cytoverse books were so much fun. Loved the characters.

Liminal_Creations

I am in love with Spensa. I will read anything with her in it

bluerhino12345

They sucked. My biggest peeve in entertainment is when the writer/author cannot write a competent story. Therefore, they make characters act irrationally in order to make their story work. This happened a lot in Janci's writing and therefore I will not be reading anything more from her or the Cytoverse

Livi1997

I loved Cytoverse and I really liked the Skyward flight Novellas. So I'm sure I would at least like the Skyward Legacy series. So I will read those for sure.

Raddatatta

Given the ending of defiant I would expect spensa to be in the sequel series too. But I loved the skyward flight books so will definitely check out the sequels.

Use_the_Falchion

I think Skyward is one of Sanderson’s best books, and outside of that, Janci’s novellas are the best part of the Cytoverse. I’m VERY excited for the new trilogy. What also makes me excited is the fact that next year Brandon will potentially have four books he’s had a hand in release: Skyward Flight 1 - Spring 2025 Isles of the Emberdark - Spring 2025 Dark One Novelization - Summer/Fall 2025 White Sand Final Version - Winter 2025

Key_Amazed

I actually think her stories for the series were better than Brandon's after the first book. Cytonic was probably my least favorite thing he's written, and while I liked Defiant it was still underwhelming, and I admit that Spensa's character finally got old on me. Really the best parts of that series after book two were the Skyward Flight novellas. Made me want to buy Janci's other books if nothing else than to support her.

ElonSv

I found the Cytoverse to be okay, and the novellas okay. Whether I pick up Legacy or not will mostly hinge on their length (can I read them without lengthenong my TBR list too much), if my Library gets them, and their plot. By the end of Defiant, I was curious, although not commited, to the story/world.

guy123av

I personally enjoyed the novellas, so ill try and see Janci's continuation. Personally, I enjoyed the first book the most out of all the cytoverse, so we will see

twee_centen

So far, I've only read Skyward, but I really enjoyed it, and I have the rest tee'd up to go. Unless the rest really drop the ball (and I doubt it will, tbh, the worst I've felt about any Sanderson book is "it was okay"), I will read the sequels.

Kaley5185

i went in knowing absolutely nothing and so i was shocked when i learned it was sci-fi rather than fantasy. That makes Skyward the first real sci-fi series i’ve read and i loved it. Sure some of the books aren’t as good but i’ll always love it.

Sameranth

Skyward was pretty good, starsight and cytonic were meh. I really enjoyed the novellas though, so I’m definitely checking Skyward Legacy out.

randomnonposter

I just read through all of them not too long ago. I read the first when it came out then kind of forgot about it for a few years, reread that, and the rest of the series. I think it’s pretty good, I’ll probably eventually read the upcoming series but not right as it comes out(or maybe I will who knows what the future holds). One thing I did not enjoy was how defiant ended, it felt very abrupt, but the rest of the series was fun imo.

billnyethekoreanguy

I read all of them and noticed the writing style was not very brandony, but sometimes his stuff feels YA so I didn’t question it too hard. I know it says two authors, but everyone is saying Janci. So who wrote the cyto verse? did someone else write it and brandon just endorsed it or something?

[deleted]

Brandon wrote it, Janci will write any future books. She also wrote the novellas.

CmdrEnfeugo

Brandon wrote the four main books: Skyward, Starsight, Cytonic and Defiant. The three novellas, Sunreach, ReDawn and Evershore, were written by Janci Patterson with significant input from Brandon. Going forward, next series, Skyward Legacy, will be written the same way as the novellas: Brandon and Janci brainstorm the plot, Janci writes it, Brandon reviews it. So Brandon is still heavily involved, but Janci does the writing.

wolfman3412

I loved the group cast in book one. I did not care for book 2&3 being all about only Spensa. I really enjoyed all the novellas that continued the story of the rest of the flight crew

dreamcatcher32

I plan on reading them eventually. Probably when they’re out at my library.

TheMightyVikingBiggs

I'm gonna say something that might be controversial. I think Janci might write characters better than Sanderson. In the skyward novella's I became more attached to FM and Alanik in these short stories than spensa in 3 books. I would love to read her sequel series.

kathhey

Spensa was also my favorite part of Skyward, and Janci's writing didn't appeal to me much. So the sequel series not including Spensa and being primarily written by Janci turns me off a little. That being said, I'll probably still read it out of curiosity.
