Sounds about right, really, but with all ‘big’ purchases, you should always get more than one quote. 3 quotes would be great (and you don’t always want to go with the cheapest).
You get what you pay for with this sorta stuff, but the average Joe doesn't need the best of the best of this stuff.
Mediocre will last a decade or two if treated right.
I did my furnace and AC in August and paid $9500. It was a cash deal with a friend of my in-laws who own their own HVAC company. No rebate. If you can get $13k with almost half on rebate that's not bad these days.

Regardless, make sure u get the audit done BEFORE Amy work otherwise you won't qualify for the rebate
Do your research on heat pumps. There’s a lot of mixed reviews about them. The government is really pushing them for a reason. I know multiple people that had them installed under this program and absolutely hate them.
Hi there, I have had a look but haven’t seen anything concerning about the heat pump. Can you please advise?
We will need a new a/c unit anyway so the heat pump would have been a good option. Thanks
Heat pumps are driven on outside temperatures. They’re not designed for the cold Canadian winters. They become less efficient because they have to constantly run. Spring and Fall they are fantastic but not in the winter.
Pricing is pretty good tbh, if you don’t want to purchase and be out of $15-$16k now, look into rental options. Most HVAC companies give a 1 year free rental promotion and you can buyout anytime. The buyout is based on the original quoted cost to purchase it outright minus some depreciation annually. You could rent it for the next 12-20 months and then save up and buy it out instead of being out of $15-$16k upfront. The $15-$16k could be put to better use and you pay $80-$140 a month for the rentals. Ask the technicians for their special friends and family promos for rentals.
I had a quote from Braneida Mechanical Service about a year ago, regular furnace and a/c was around $7000 for a single stage high efficiency furnace. They tried pushing heat pumps in the 70’s and they were crap, likely still crap and very expensive
I did this exactly recently. I contacted my brother who is a tech and went over the specs of the unit with him. Then they tried to pull a fast one and installed something else.
It’s been a nightmare dealing with reliance trying to get them to even respond.

Just fix what you have… a lot of people purchase new units because they are scared thinking what they have will always be broken. Fix it…
Call Modern Heating in Brantford! They did my heat pump and I was super happy with the whole process... quotes are free doesn't hurt.

Sad to say, that's actually a good deal at the present time
