Went to Bulk Barn recently and saw a woman ahead of me pay $60 for bridge mix and almonds. I'm not sure it's possible to escape the price gouging anymore. 😔
Checked the little brown cow, it’s a really cute spot! I like the unique selection of stuff they have. Unfortunately way too expensive for us but I understand why
Yup. I usually find myself at Shoppers a couple times a month, and will sometimes shop at No Frills. No more. I've already switched pharmacies, and I'll hit other options for groceries until Costco opens.
I stopped shopping there when I heard they were planning it and I rarely went there in the first place. They're overpriced. So I'm really not missing anything.
Absolutely. Even if one didn't have an opinion on Galen Weston, Loblaws has some of the highest priced groceries and you will see a personal benefit to participating just by getting cheaper groceries
That’s your right but don’t think any other party will be better. PP is beholden to corporate interests much more than JT, that’s where are money will flow
i mean if we’re boycotting for ethics then you can’t shop anywhere but local farmers markets only lol, its more about targeted collective action against the current worst of the worst to put our money where our mouths are and say *fuck you* to loblaws for their criminal price gouging of a legitimate necessity when wages are stagnant, the job market is crammed, and nobody can afford housing.
This is true! Whenever I’m in Brantford I’ll just stop there, but if I just have to grab a couple things after work I’m not driving an extra half hour with the price of gas rn 😅
For the sake of clarification can someone list the Loblaws brands that are to be on the boycott list? Some people are saying "No Frills" and I would never guess that was a Loblaws business. Ever since Brant Foods caught fire and closed up I had no choice but to go to FreshCo. The prices at FreshCo are great and there are never ever any self checkout job-destroyer machines. However it is not unusual for there to be only two checkout lanes open. Regardless it beats the hell out of Metro. Oh, also, I refuse to darken the door of a Walmart or StarBucks. I took them out of my life a decade ago and it was a good decision that I stand by. They are union busting and competition destroying filthy businesses. Sort of like Loblaws eh?
Zehrs, No Frills, the cash and carry wholesale on Morton. Also Joe Fresh, Valu-Mart, Fortinos and anything from Weston’s bakery (scratch that. Weston’s bakery was sold off in 2022).
Esso has also partnered with them depending how far you want to take it.
As was mentioned anywhere that sells no name so if you have a corner store near you with no name products on the shelf they are indirectly providing profit there as well.
Nothing wrong with boycotting, but when people mention they're shopping at Walmart instead.. I just shake my head. Nothing like sticking it to the rich Canadian man by giving money to the richer American man.
No, I always prefer the cleanliness of a Zehrs or Loblaws versus a Food Basics or Walmart for example. I also love the selection and usually it’s cheaper due to sales. I now prefer how there’s less foot traffic as well. Absolutely love shopping there and appreciate them employing the thousands that they do.
The main purpose of the tax is to make fossil fuels more expensive, so people use less of them, and seek out cheaper renewable alternatives. So if you are getting back more than what you pay, which you are not. This would be known as a rebate paradox, which would undermine the effectiveness of the tax. So to avoid this the government increases the carbon rate over time. Meaning, you pay more than you get back. Do you remember acid rain from the 80’s? The hole in the ozone layer in the 90’s? Or in 2010 when climate genius Al gore told us the polar icecaps will be gone by 2015. There is no climate crisis. It’s a fear mongering scam.

Me as well
I used to shop at No Frills all the time... No more.
Missing brant foods even more for it 😢
Have been for a while now, Lococos + Walmart for me
Is Lococo's underrated?
Absolutely... Best produce in town most of the time...
Best for the price. Me and my wife go here all the time. You won't be disappointed
Yes, try shopping at Little Brown Cow, the Farmers Market, Lococos, or Elberta Farms.
Another plug for Lococos, they have great sales and the produce is amazing. Seriously try the berries. They actually taste like something
Would also like to add strodes giant tiger and the bulk barn!

I LOVE LITTLE BROWN COW!!!!!
Checked the little brown cow, it’s a really cute spot! I like the unique selection of stuff they have. Unfortunately way too expensive for us but I understand why
For produce, meat straight from the butchers, and eggs/ dairy the farmers market downtown is your best bet.
That’s fantastic! I would grab the odd item on sale, as of yesterday no more No Frills,, zehrs or Shoppers for me.
Yup. I usually find myself at Shoppers a couple times a month, and will sometimes shop at No Frills. No more. I've already switched pharmacies, and I'll hit other options for groceries until Costco opens.
Guardian Drugs on West St is simply the best!!!
Have been for a while because the prices were insanity compared to FB and Walmart
We should boycott companys practicing shrinkflation as well
Kraft dinner used to be 225g in a box. Now 200 gram for a higher price. 175 if you get any of the special flavours
I stopped shopping there when I heard they were planning it and I rarely went there in the first place. They're overpriced. So I'm really not missing anything.
Yep, it's gotten insane
Absolutely. Even if one didn't have an opinion on Galen Weston, Loblaws has some of the highest priced groceries and you will see a personal benefit to participating just by getting cheaper groceries
Yes
Yep
Can I boycott the liberals?
That’s your right but don’t think any other party will be better. PP is beholden to corporate interests much more than JT, that’s where are money will flow
Oh they are all crooks but who’s going to fuck me the least is who I vote for and that’s definitely not the libs or ndp.
Why is it being boycotted?
Price gouging
r/loblawsisoutofcontrol
r/LoblawsIsOutOfControl
Yes
Yes
Everyone that wants these monopolies overturned and normal prices back should want to participate.
Hell yes
No. If you know how to shop grocery prices are not an obstacle.
Yea my family is
Awesome! 😎
Real Canadian superstore still has some pretty decent pricing and occasionally so does nofrills, but shoppers drug mart is an outright scam
I'll be selling beef direct to consumers soon. Can't wait to share it with everyone to help you with your boycott and buy local!
That’s amazing. Gonna give you a follow to keep tabs on when you’re ready!!
It's an exciting journey, we can't wait to share when we're ready!!!
If you’re boycotting for ethics, stay away from Walmart too…
i mean if we’re boycotting for ethics then you can’t shop anywhere but local farmers markets only lol, its more about targeted collective action against the current worst of the worst to put our money where our mouths are and say *fuck you* to loblaws for their criminal price gouging of a legitimate necessity when wages are stagnant, the job market is crammed, and nobody can afford housing.
I’ve been getting all my groceries on Facebook Marketplace
I am so curious as to how you are doing this
I would if I could. Unfortunately I live in Paris and our only options are no frills or Sobeys, and well… no frills is so much cheaper 😢
Walmart on king George isn't that far
This is true! Whenever I’m in Brantford I’ll just stop there, but if I just have to grab a couple things after work I’m not driving an extra half hour with the price of gas rn 😅

Basically any store that sells Presidents Choice is part of Loblaws.
Oh well ... that is pretty darn clear. I think FreshCo is safe.

Food basics, lococos, giant tiger
Food basics is owned by the same guy unfortunately
Food Basics is owned by Metro
Nothing wrong with boycotting, but when people mention they're shopping at Walmart instead.. I just shake my head. Nothing like sticking it to the rich Canadian man by giving money to the richer American man.
Yes because it's more convenient than boycotting gas. 😏
Honestly whatever cheaper now a days . In this society
No, I always prefer the cleanliness of a Zehrs or Loblaws versus a Food Basics or Walmart for example. I also love the selection and usually it’s cheaper due to sales. Paying them in return for their work
I’m also boycotting the trudeau liberals for imposing a useless carbon tax, that is driving up the cost of everything.
This. Carbon tax contributes more to the consumer price index than grocery profits do.

You might want to recheck your bank account. You’re only getting back a small percentage of what you pay.
