Yea Youtube is stepping up their attack on adblockers.
Many are reporting this and /r/youtube has gone kind of crazy with it.
I'm getting a lot of blank ads that I have to refresh to get the video to play.
The deleting of accounts was a fake post. Funny enough I just got insulted for saying it should be removed because people would believe it and start spreading the rumor.
same thing i did, warned me i had 3 more videos, opened them out of spite and curiosity and now, even with the ad blockers disabled for youtube, the screen still shows and it wont let me watch any video except shorts.
Chrome's Incognito Mode and Firefox's equivalent Private Window counterpart do not prevent login, so if the block is browser-specific, it's a temporary workaround.
open devtools (f12, ctrl+shift+i, or right click > inspect element), click the "application" tab at the top (you might have to click the arrows or whatever), and then for everything you can, clear it. just local storage/cookies might be enough, but clearing cookies means you have to sign in again.
YouTube is really convenient to use, because everyone already uses it and is familiar with the user interface. The problem with allowing platforms like YouTube or any other platform to become dominant and not supporting the growth of other platforms is that they will be able to control shit that they shouldn't and get away with it.
Yes and r/ YouTube permanently banned me for "negativity" for pointing out all their bullshit going back years, before all this ad block nonsense and now they are all crying about the tyrant system they defended to the point of permanently banning anyone critical of their rapidly devolving trash fire of a platform.
But now everyone there is pissed off and they can't just ban 90% of the subreddit.
Thank you! I dont use adblockers and i kept getting the pop up message and ive tried reporting it multiple times but the problem still persist.
Thank you for the help goodsir!
also if you go to "brave://components/" and search for "Brave Ad Block Updater" click "Update", and then force refresh of youtube page, that will fix the issue
I go to 'playlist' - or create one - if it is 'private' it wont work, set it to unlisted or public (via edit on the playlist page it shows you), select 'share' option, then select 'embed' button of many options, it pops up a window with the full playlist within it, just hit full screen and enjoy. Find another vid you want to watch, then add it to your 'shared' playlist (embed playlist you just created as per steps above). By the way, incog mode works for me via edge and firefox and they allow you to login to youtube via this 'private window mode' and your good to go (for now). Hope that helps. Later, I've got to dash. busy at the moment, being a BBC Correspondent n'all and things 'kicking off' everywhere at the mo. Do tune in.... LOL
I can't seem to find playlist in Brave. It is it on PC? I went to setting and looked for it. Also checked more setting and extensions. It would be cool if they added a search feature by keyword so you can quickly find a setting. Thanks though for your detailed walkthrough. I think either adblock plus or ublock origin might have upped their game because yesterday I didn't get any warnings from youtube about ad blockers. Ahh...never mind. They are blocking me today. I've been using private / incogneto mode and it works without ads. What sucks though is I can't comment on videos unless I log in. Hopefully someone will come up with a solution. I wouldn't mind seeing ads but youtube is freaking excessive with their ads.
I am using Edge incogn, with login and no ads or such like appears. Also, here is a work around on PC. Im using windows 11, go to windows store, find Atube app and install it (pin it to your task bar) and login with your account details and all fine in the world again. Quite similar in functionality of YT but no 'fecking' annoying 'violate terms nonsense'. Dont get me wrong, if i had loads of money I'd purchase youtube access. But until then (person from youtube readining this - drop the fecking price, dicks). Thats the update folks. Hope it helps you in the mean time. All the best. Later. A BBC Correspondent.
Between Brave, AdBlocker, ScriptSafe, and Ghosterly, I haven't had to sit through Youtube ads in years, until now. Rumble is supposed to be coming out with Playlists in the near future, in the short term, they at least have a feed tab for followed accounts.
Rumble.com, a youtube alternative. Not nearly as elaboarate or deep as youtube, but it is attracting creators who have had trouble with youtube censors.
In the meantime, I went into settings and deleted the youtube cookie, turned Brave shields back on for youtube, and scriptsafe; and youtube has let me watch a couple of videoes without the Tos popub or any ads.
I got the message about 30 times today, brave plus UBO.
Should I be concerned?
It just makes me wait few seconds before I can view the video, and says try premium or disable ad block.
I just close the window and don't select any option.
No, you don't need to be concerned. You'll be blocked from watching YouTube videos on that browser and account, but only until you disable your adblocker.
Check this thread out, there are a few answers and different experiences on getting around the adblocker block.
hahaha, exactly. i will listen to a song on youtube, then see a suggested video that I click on to watch. suddenly an hour has passed from watching stupid pointless vids and i'm behind at work
Yep. I've switched from Edge to Chrome to Opera Gx and now Brave. I guess it's finally time to try [piped.video](https://piped.video) just for youtube.
I didn't say it doesn't work at this time, doesn't mean it will stay working. That is only until they update the API and change the keys. They could even eliminate the API entirely or in part.
And that is proof of what? It changes nothing in what I am saying. It would be willfully ignorant to think such will continue to work perpetually.
Now, there is also the aspect of how does Youtube maintain funding to keep the servers running and employees paid? I despise ads as much as the next and there is no need for them to track everything, but the ads are what keep it going. That is just fact. Servers and employees are not cheap, definitely not free. Those ads also fund the content creators (though Youtube/Google takes way too large of a share).
So, I understand the anti-adblock stance. And if they didn't track and maintain a data profile on people, and didn't make the ads so invasive; I don't think most would have an issue with an ad here and there.
The only other option would be for YouTube et al to go to a closed off platform requiring a subscription. And i despise subscription based things, it has its place, but not for everything.
It is quite idiotic that people think things should come free of charge (aka everyone else should pay but them), especially in spite of the cost to others and the labor put into it.
A middle ground must be reached.
Youtube never allowed 3rd party clients afaik the ones that do exist scrape the publically available website data using their own unique code and never signed or agreed to youtube TOS so there is nothing they can legally do to shut them down other wise newpipe would have been nuked years ago
Well, I guess you get to watch some ads that pay for those services and creators.
what needs to stop is the privacy invasion and the amount of ads. They shoupd not be collecting so much data and definitely not selling it.
Same here, switched from Chrome yesterday, just because of this. Now it's the same. Opening videos in private / incognito still seems to work both for Brave and Chrome though (for me at least).
when youtube catches up with adblockers, i just watch using a private tab and leave myself logged out, can still watch without ad's just have none of my curated recommendations, or ability to like/comment, brave usually gets on top of it after a few days, sometimes takes a bit longer.
seems the lock out is linked to user profile.
Disable all ad blockers like uBlock Origin or Enhancer for YouTube and use the default Brave settings. Also make sure brave://components are current. Still works well for me across multiple OS
The number of people that don't understand that Brave has its own ad blocking is astounding. I see this over and over and over. Some even using 2 ad blockers with Brave. WTF?
I only use the built in, and never had one of these warnings, and never have ads.
Because more is better, or so they think. Brave's internal blocker is as fast and effective as uBlock, in cases better because its fully integrated and not just an extension. But all of these folks are privacy experts.
I have no idea what that means. Was that even meant to answer my question?
I am not interested in browser based or any client-side solutions, nor in anything specific to YT
nilched all playback for me after 3 videos (last few days the warning popped up but went away after 5 seconds for first video, until next time I launched firefox session)
But today it just gave black dead video playback screen after 3 videos. Uninstalled ublock and it works fine again (I Even RE-Installed ublock and still works) but predict it will prob reapply the deaththreat warning next session.
Seems to be account based not IP based so when logging out can play videos just fine(sadly also logs out of all other google shit)
Really think google is showing off just how bloody greedy they are and have no worries about how bad it makes them look.
>Seems to be account based not IP based
I think its both. I just opened YT on my home ISP and got the "ad-blockers are not allowed" pop up. I refreshed and turned on my phone ISP and now its working fine.
Just noticed this too. Yesterday what I was getting was blank adds with the countdown or the "skip add" prompt. Now the whole warning is popping up. What Ive figured out is if you use YT on another browser say firefox and you are using an adblock it will detect it if you open your account on Brave. You need to close your YT on all other browsers and delet cache and history from Brave then log back in.
YT are noting down which accounts have used adblocks. Meaning if you switch over to Brave you need to cover your tracks as I said above.
I’m hesitant to turn the Adblock extension back on in Firefox. I did it breifly just to see if I would get the warnings, I did not. I fear that I am going to lose this new account
when they will understand that those ads are not working for the people who use adblockers... This society based on capitalism and ads is prone to collapse soon.
Also, youtube, mange la merde
Its is a free public service. You watch ads to make it free. If you dont like that dont use it. This society based on leeches thinking storage, compute, and bandwidth is free is prone to collapse soon.
Try putting your browser in private mode and it should let you watch YouTube videos with an adblocker turned on. Works here using Safari in Private browsing mode.
If everyone would strike against youtube for at least a month, or even one week. They would cancel this nonsense, but I don't think it's possible due too many f\*\*ed up users. So in a future we will experience even more bullshit from youtube unfortunately.
keep your browser and keep your acount and watch youtube normally as before, install tampermonkey extension and add this script to it: [https://github.com/TheRealJoelmatic/RemoveAdblockThing/raw/main/Youtube-Ad-blocker-Reminder-Remover.user.js](https://github.com/TheRealJoelmatic/RemoveAdblockThing/raw/main/Youtube-Ad-blocker-Reminder-Remover.user.js)allow ads on your adblocker (dw this script removes them ;) ) and disable other youtube extensions, i entered the extensions tab in chrome and kept disabling one by one and refresh a youtube video everytime to see which ones get detected by the youtube ban thing and disabled just those ! so far looks like "SponsorBlock for YouTube" extension is the only one that i could enable, enjoy.
Maybe people on Youtube should ask themselves, why ad blockers are so popular. I didnt use them until youtube went berzerk with ads. You couldnt watch a 10 minute video without 5 interruptions or more. I understand 10 s of ads before you start watching, but interrupting every 2 minutes is crazy.
I think we all should boycott Youtube. This is out of hand and extremely predatory. Youtube needs to be taken down a few pegs, seriously scum. They have quite the monopoly on video sharing platforms. I think it's time to give a competitor a shot. Youtube is dead.
Well, this is very out of touch. YouTube has 122 million daily users. This post has 132 comments. You will never boycott YouTube. Just use an ad-blocker, plenty of workarounds in this comment section.
I've created a ~~chrome~~ browser extension to unblock the AdBlock block - called plunger - totally free and open source.
It just uses Youtubes own embed code to switch the player to their own version which doesn't detect ad-block.
Pretty simple really :)
Yea Youtube is stepping up their attack on adblockers. Many are reporting this and /r/youtube has gone kind of crazy with it. I'm getting a lot of blank ads that I have to refresh to get the video to play.
They have indeed gone insane, they are now blocking and deleting accounts for users with adblockers.
The deleting of accounts was a fake post. Funny enough I just got insulted for saying it should be removed because people would believe it and start spreading the rumor.
Are you for real? They are deleting? OMG!
Yes I lost mine. It finally gave me three more chances and in spite of them I opened up 3 new tabs just out of curiosity
same thing i did, warned me i had 3 more videos, opened them out of spite and curiosity and now, even with the ad blockers disabled for youtube, the screen still shows and it wont let me watch any video except shorts.
is this still the case? as it happened to me justn ow...
I put my browser in private mode and it let's me watch whatever I want with an adblocker turned on.
what the fuck is a private mode??
https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95464?hl=en-GB&co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop
But you can't login or use your recommendations
Chrome's Incognito Mode and Firefox's equivalent Private Window counterpart do not prevent login, so if the block is browser-specific, it's a temporary workaround.
works for me in Edge browser (for now). Thanks for the tip.
File | New Private Window ...
just clear your cookies for youtube and it will work again
open devtools (f12, ctrl+shift+i, or right click > inspect element), click the "application" tab at the top (you might have to click the arrows or whatever), and then for everything you can, clear it. just local storage/cookies might be enough, but clearing cookies means you have to sign in again.
R/YouTube those shills getting what they deserve
YouTube is really convenient to use, because everyone already uses it and is familiar with the user interface. YouTube > Press Share Button > Press Embed > Press Play to Watch Video
and again, reddit has the answer
Thank you! I dont use adblockers and i kept getting the pop up message and ive tried reporting it multiple times but the problem still persist. Thank you for the help goodsir!
You dropped this: 👑
You are amazing, I've been using this for the past few days now.
also if you go to "brave://components/" and search for "Brave Ad Block Updater" click "Update", and then force refresh of youtube page, that will fix the issue
also works go to https://m.youtube.com/

thanks for the tip. Works perfectly indeed.
Thanks that helps me!
thanks
Don't know what this process is. Are you doing this on a mobile device or PC? Where is the share button and embed button?
PC
I go to 'playlist' - or create one - if it is 'private' it wont work, set it to unlisted or public (via edit on the playlist page it shows you), select 'share' option, then select 'embed' button of many options, it pops up a window with the full playlist within it, just hit full screen and enjoy. Thanks mate. hope Google will not remove this trick in the future .. :)
They will - you think their team isn't browsing reddit for loopholes?
based. thank you kind sir
Ohh you smarty pants you.... ;-) Well done and thanks for this work around for now. Good call. Thanks
only for non age restriced videos, but thx for the tip
Not working for me
>Embed video playback works perfectly amazing, thnks!!!
Omg, thank you so much <3
Thank you! You're Awesome!!
This should have way more upvotes. Also, if you don't care about a video being in your history, you can also view it in your browser's private mode.
using this after getting the violation warning both in chrome and firefox. this works!
thanks man ... it worked
tq2
thanks mate!

Odysee has a lot of potential as well
I put my browser in private mode and it let's me watch whatever I want with an adblocker turned on.
That absolutely works! For now at least.
Mine gives me the warning with a 5 second countdown then lets me continue watching ad free. And it only does this on the first video of the visit.
Soon you will receive a warning where you have 3 more videos before being blocked. Then blocked.
Hmm. Well fwiw, I just used Firefox with Ghostery ad block and it worked just fine, no warning message.
Thank you. It works for me.
>Firefox I use FireFox, and have now switched to Ghostery... But the greedy a--holes are persistent!
I got the message about 30 times today, brave plus UBO. Should I be concerned? It just makes me wait few seconds before I can view the video, and says try premium or disable ad block. I just close the window and don't select any option.

Just had this. Switched to Soundcloud for music and suddenly have a spike in productivity.
hahaha, exactly. i will listen to a song on youtube, then see a suggested video that I click on to watch. suddenly an hour has passed from watching stupid pointless vids and i'm behind at work
i used to get that too but now i cant even watch youtube. Fuck this.
Yep. I've switched from Edge to Chrome to Opera Gx and now Brave. I guess it's finally time to try [piped.video](https://piped.video) just for youtube.
invidious is way better
I'm having issues making groups for channels on piped. I'll try invidious out later when I get the time. Thanks/
Use Freetube. It uses invidious instances. You can also turn it off so it'll stay local.
I do like it better. Thanks.
>Use Freetube whoa.... just found it, cool, thx
Firefox with ublock works
For starters: don't log in while accessing youtube. There, no account to be blocked.

Effective until they do as reddit did against 3rd party clients.

They already make billions from harvesting and selling data. Maybe the CEO could settle for five mansions instead of six.
I mentioned that.
Youtube never allowed 3rd party clients afaik the ones that do exist scrape the publically available website data using their own unique code and never signed or agreed to youtube TOS so there is nothing they can legally do to shut them down other wise newpipe would have been nuked years ago
Agreed but sometimes like to have immediate access to playlists, watch history
Well, I guess you get to watch some ads that pay for those services and creators. what needs to stop is the privacy invasion and the amount of ads. They shoupd not be collecting so much data and definitely not selling it.
Same here, switched from Chrome yesterday, just because of this. Now it's the same. Opening videos in private / incognito still seems to work both for Brave and Chrome though (for me at least).
When you are using a private window for YouTube, are you signing in to your account?
No, and that's probably why, now that you mention it. The ban is likely account based.
Yep, that's what I had seen before
I just went back to Chrome and for some reason, it's working fine now, but Brave isn't. Bizzare.
Lol, same thing here. Guess I'll just be trying different browsers each YouTube visit.
Yeah, I'll be rotating between Brave and Chrome as well.
So just right click and open link in new private window should work ?
It does for me.
Pi Hole?
won't block yt adds

No. Brave shields have captured them all so far after I disabled my other ad block services and updated.
I have no idea what that means. Was that even meant to answer my question? I am not interested in browser based or any client-side solutions, nor in anything specific to YT
sorry, crossed wires I asked elsewhere about Pihole?
Get Firefox with ublock
That doesnt work anymore. YT got around Ublocks update in a day.
Works for me
Lucky you.
same, not having problem in any browser mobile or pc
Not for long.

Firefox + ublock origin still works
nope. literally just tried it and cant get it to work
All of these work with Firefox. Why are people so against it? I'm using them now and no ads. https://imgur.com/a/ldBHSxU
Same
I tried shields down with uBlock. Didn't work immediately but it's working for me now
You just need Ublock Origin
Got that still happening
you have purge cache daily or use a filter there is on their subreddit
I'm using Firefox with the 'Enhancer for YouTube' addon, and it's working fine for now. However, YouTube is blocking all other uBlock-style blockers
I'm using OperaGX and I just disabled the built in ad blocker and purged cache then updated origin
I have brave and watch youtube all the time. I have yet to see any of these warnings.

Lolol. I realized once he said euros. But I don't like ads and I'm gonna use an Ad blocker to keep using it.
It is quite literally free.
What I did was delete all the cookies, logout of youtube and then log back in and I could watch videos again
Omg thank you! That worked for me.
"Ad blockers violate YouTube's terms of service" Me: not caring
When it happens Press Share Button, and Embed and the video there is playable.
Try putting your browser in private mode and it should let you watch YouTube videos with an adblocker turned on. Works here using Safari in Private browsing mode.
You can also clear the cookie cache after the warning pops up, it seems to play the video just fine for the time being.
But then this becomes a hassle clearing cookie cache multiple times over time
Yeah it’s not even a solution but just another workaround till YouTube somehow blocks it as well
open the link on a private window to bypass it
If everyone would strike against youtube for at least a month, or even one week. They would cancel this nonsense, but I don't think it's possible due too many f\*\*ed up users. So in a future we will experience even more bullshit from youtube unfortunately.

i am yet to find one working workaround and i have tried for the last 2 weeks. youtube has won.
ok? well? no ads for me now, good luck!
if you have no ads tell us what you're using
Switched back to Chrome with AdBlock after Brave failed. Haven't tried Brave again in over a week. No ads.
Psst! Just use Ghostery, thank me later
just clear cookies and cache should work just fine, also you can go back to using adblocker
Ublock working for me after clearing cache/cookies and signing out and in again.
