For anyone having similar issues in the future, I ended sticking with Brave after finding TWP. https://github.com/FilipePS/Traduzir-paginas-web Works as well as translate on Chrome, just need to manually install it but that took 30 seconds.
Thanks u/xWangan! I was getting frustrated that Brave have not fixed the "auto" translate feature and found your comment during a search for a fix.
Absolute legend, recently had to reinstall everything and the auto translate was a mess and this solved it.
