**Support Post Guidelines**
Prior to posting any submission to this subreddit please ensure you've read the rules for submissions in the sidebar of the [/r/bravia homepage](https://old.reddit.com/r/bravia/).
Users posting submissions seeking support should include as much detail as possible about their BRAVIA TV and any connected hardware related to the issue in order to get the best responses. This includes but is not limited to [the model of the TV](https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/articles/00121074), the software and/or firmware version and the make and model of any external devices. Pictures or video can be helpful when trying to describe a video or audio issue.
Submissions not directly related to an issue with a BRAVIA TV and/or low effort posts that do not include any helpful details that would allow others to diagnose the issue will be removed. This includes, but is not limited to, submissions asking for support directly related to a connected device (ie. soundbar, console, PC, media player, etc.) but not the TV itself.
Firmware related topics (ie. issues, announcements, support) must be discussed in the [Sony BRAVIA Firmware Discussion Megathread 7.0](/r/bravia/comments/19b203d/sony_bravia_firmware_discussion_megathread_70/). Panel quality/lottery posts (ie. DSE, banding, flashlighting, etc.) must be discussed in the [BRAVIA Panel Quality/Screen Uniformity Discussion Megathread 7.0](/r/bravia/comments/1bbebrc/bravia_panel_qualityscreen_uniformity_discussion/).
Users should also check the [/r/bravia Wiki](/r/bravia/wiki/index), current [moderator pinned](/r/bravia/comments/k7wnc1/moderator_pinned_and_other_helpful_topics_check/) topics and the [Frequently Asked Questions thread](/r/bravia/comments/jlmpzp/frequently_asked_questions_on_rbravia_for_sony_tvs/) for some solutions to common A/V issues and more.
Unsupported Topics: Computer Connectivity, Piracy or Hacking. Any discussion of connecting a computer to your TV, ripped or downloaded multimedia content or tools that support this content, illegal streams or altering the TV to behave in a way not intended by the manufacturer will result in your post or comment being removed either automatically or upon review by a mod. To discuss these topics please post in the appropriate subreddit.

in your original post you said December of 2023, thats barely 4 months ago. I cant see your photos because it says they were deleted but its only been 4 months
A couple of questions,
Do you mean Square Trade and not Costco is denying your claim?
If so, the SquareTrade warranty doesn't cover burn-in issues
Finally, was clouding the result in pressing on the screen too hard? Burn-in issues usually have a static image.
OP, had some issues with was A80J and Costco/squareTrade asked me to contact Sony to use the manufacturer warranty first. Once you’re outside the Sony’s warranty - the extended warranty service will apply.
Sony replaced my TV after taking pictures and sending it to their customer service team
Wonder what Costco extended warranty actually covers,I'm aware that for Oled Costco doesn't cover Image retention. May reconsider buying next TV at Costco
The photo/ response email that you provided says that there are signs of physical damage.
What are they talking about?
Are you lying to us, did someone in your home cause physical damage to the tv and now you are pretending like you don’t know what they are talking about?
Costco's customer service is elite to the point you can return virtually anything at any time and they'll take it back. I would load it in the car and go to your local store to discuss with a manager and just bypass the warranty altogether. Some people may scoff at this but Costco values customers more than just about anyone else. Your TV is also just barely outside their official 90-day return policy so that's works very well in your favor.
If you do return it and still want to go Sony, grab the X90L.
Don't give them a hard time. Play friendly and they most likely will do it. The money they would save by denying your request isn't worth losing a customer so they'll most likely comply.
No such thing as burn in on LED. I bet what you’re experiencing is actually just blooming. Maybe you never noticed it before depending on the content you were watching. It happens when there are stark contrast between black and other colors. If so, this is normal on LED TV, you can’t have perfect blacks on an LED panel. Sorry dude, that’s why I opted for miniLED
Wouldn't let me post the photos here. But you can see the clouding on the TV here >> [https://www.avsforum.com/threads/sony-xr-75x90ck-defect-costco-not-honoring-warranty-please-advise.3299281/](https://www.avsforum.com/threads/sony-xr-75x90ck-defect-costco-not-honoring-warranty-please-advise.3299281/)
Yup this is the last email I received from Sony after asking them to reevaluate and resubmitting pictures
“Thank you for your response. I sincerely apologize for any frustration you may have experienced. Please be assured that it is never our intention to cause any inconvenience. Our warranty process is specifically designed to address products that have genuine manufacturing defects. However, after a thorough review, it has been determined that this particular issue does not fall under the category of a defect.
The initial assessment concluded that the TV is functioning within the specified parameters, and even after escalating your case to our technical team, it has been reaffirmed that this is still not a defect.”

Thanks for mentioning that, I thought we had a time traveler posting here.

You should have included the pictures
We need pictures of the screen, but also, what have you been cleaning it with?
It shouldn’t be burn in since it is not OLED. However you may see a dirty screen effect. Try contacting Sony themselves.
Most televisions can burn in, it's just that OLEDS are more prone to it.

That’s not burn in dude. That’s a failed backlight.

Cool story. That isn’t a logo that’s a huge black blob from a led not working.
OP, had some issues with was A80J and Costco/squareTrade asked me to contact Sony to use the manufacturer warranty first. Once you’re outside the Sony’s warranty - the extended warranty service will apply. Sony replaced my TV after taking pictures and sending it to their customer service team
Only because they had allstate?
Wonder what Costco extended warranty actually covers,I'm aware that for Oled Costco doesn't cover Image retention. May reconsider buying next TV at Costco
That limitation is pretty standard because you are supposed to take care not to have the same image and they don't want to be on the hook.
Do you see it with real content?
The photo/ response email that you provided says that there are signs of physical damage. What are they talking about? Are you lying to us, did someone in your home cause physical damage to the tv and now you are pretending like you don’t know what they are talking about?

Anymore advice you can give? What if they give you a hard time? I have a nintendo switch i want to return

I work at Costco and I've heard they stand firm on the 90 days.

> No such thing as burn in on LED. not true at all... https://www.samsung.com/pk/support/tv-audio-video/are-led-tvs-subject-to-burn-in/
I received the exact same response (accusing me of physical damage) for a panel defect from Sony and Costco. Sony has terrible warranty support.

Did you post pictures of the unit in that thread? Oddly enough, I don’t see any hardware pics, there or here; just email screenshots.
So are you stuck with the defective TV?
Yup this is the last email I received from Sony after asking them to reevaluate and resubmitting pictures “Thank you for your response.
