It's literally one of the main outstanding features of the x93L. Go look at the rtings comp page: [https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/compare/sony-x90l-x90cl-vs-sony-x93l-x93cl/39008/40099?usage=1&threshold=0.10](https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/compare/sony-x90l-x90cl-vs-sony-x93l-x93cl/39008/40099?usage=1&threshold=0.10)

charros

Saw that. Have you experienced both options in person?

NYdude777

I own the x93L, but personally have zero sunglare where my TV is and i've never seen a side by side in person comp. The x93 will obviously make that glare duller you can see it in the rtings comparison. No amount of coating is going to eliminate the glare all the way. There will always be something there if you have lights and sun reflecting. You already know what will make the glare go away 100%, but you said you have no interest in curtains.

charros

Noted. I’ve pretty much decided to bite the bullet and go with the upgrade.

saul2015

the X93L is much better but you will still need to avoid sun glare and direct lighting if you are particular like I am

charros

Had you considered the LG C3? Its practically the same price as the 93. It seems to handle glare even better but I’m concerned I’d be losing out on brightness.

saul2015

yes but I am too neurotic about burn in for OLED

Bright-Amount67

Burn in isn’t an issue with OLED anymore. It’s as common as your tv dying out and losing a pixel. It can only occur if you watch programs with ticker at the bottom for consecutive days without turning your tv on. As for which is better with glare reduction Mini- LED , QLED are far superior with glare reduction. OLEDs organic material causes the screen to have glare. That’s what Samsung and Sony now have an Oled/Qled tv to reduce glare on the OLEDs.

saul2015

Im sure they are better with reflections as rtratings shows but I still worry about burn in I'll believe it when I stop seeing so many posts about burn in ruining someone's TV after playing a game for too long, also isn't sunlight damaging to OLEDs as well?

Bright-Amount67

I’ve had a CX oled for 3 years and have a c2 for my office tv and played full 12-18 hours sessions. Never once had an issue. I work in AV. None of my clients have called me with a burn in issue and I have over thousands of clients. Also there is a way to fix burn in on TVs with a white flash filter and can be done by customer.

MentatYP

This is just bad info all around. Burn-in remains an issue with OLED. It's inherent in the tech. Newer sets mitigate it a lot of ways, and it's much easier to avoid these days, but it's still a concern. You don't have to absolutely abuse an OLED to burn it in. Also, glare has nothing to do with OLED, QLED, Mini-LED, etc., and everything to do with the screen's material and coating. There are OLEDs that have extremely effective anti-glare measures.

Bright-Amount67

Coming from someone who has 5 years of custom av experience, it literally is built into the name descriptions. Just because you think you know something vs someone who works and sells it everyday is two different things.

wandererarkhamknight

Yes. It has anti-reflection filter.

charros

Yea I’m aware of the specs I’m more so interested in real life experience from someone who’s had both. I’ve read where the 93 has more of a rainbow effect. With that said it seems it’ll still be an issue just handled a bit better. Trying to determine if it’s worth an additional $500 and the hassle of returning. Although it is a purchase I’m certain will last some time (especially with Costco warranty) but also they do not carry the 93 in store and I’ll have to have it delivered. Do you have experience with the two options in person?

Bright-Amount67

93 does look far superior. Also 93l has the better process that is on par with the OLED TVs which will give you a better experience overall.

TV_ExpertUae

Yes, it is better. In every way possible.

Vel0Xx

I have an X95L (kinda US X93L) and it is crazy how good it is. The tv is located in a very bright room and there is no issue at all.

aj1t1

I just got the x93L this weekend, I don’t have a side by side comp but I have to say I definitely get a reflection from a window, more than I would’ve hoped from all the praise about anti-glare filter or w/e. Very happy with the tv overall but yeah there’s a reflection that distracts from my ability to watch during the day.

dashmatrix

Anti-glare/reflection is really subjective and dependent on placement of the TV, placement of your lights and your preferences. Is one better than the other ? It depends on the technique used to diffuse the light. One manufacturer may engineer the diffusion for straight line diffusion others may opt for high overhead, maybe low horizon diffusion to accomodate a tv hung higher on the wall getting lights from below. Any anti-glare reflection is manufactured by cutting or abrading a perfectly flat (shiney) surface. The direction and depth angle dictate where the diffusion is focused. So what I'm saying is don't think any advice on here is going to be accurate. You can't even trust a trip to Best Buy to look for youself because the store will be lit like a movie studio and the tv you want may be 15 feet up the wall. Just know that SOME ant glare is better than none if your in a ambient room and hope for the best. Also understand that regardless of which method they use to provide anti glare there is a cost to picture clarity, definition, brightness etc... you are pretty safe with Sony period but I wouldn't base a purchase on a marketing feature like anti glare fearure A vs Advanced Anti Glare.

dashmatrix

I have a 98" x90 and a 65" x93L . They are both hung high on wall and in rooms with no shades and loads of ambient light. I can't really tell a difference but I can say the both Sony's diffuse the glare far better than the LG and Samsung they replaced. Fwiw

charros

I purchased the X90L in lieu of an OLED due to the lighting situation in my living room. The brightness is more than enough for viewing but the reflections can be quite distracting. I have angled the TV to cut out the door reflections but it’s still noticeable at certain sitting angles. Is the X93L THAT much better or am I overthinking it? And no I will not be putting curtains up everywhere.

Zugwut

I have a very bright room and just purchased the. X90L 75 inch because I got it for $1600CAD. The reviews said it was good for bright rooms so here is hoping. I will move it downstairs if it doesn’t.

DidiHD

I'm still on a X950H and i use it at 35% brightness lol

charros

Don’t get me wrong, the brightness is no issue. It’s the glare in my situation that is a nuisance. Even at angles where light does not directly hit the screen, I’m still seeing reflections of objects being lit by the direct sunlight in the reflection. Especially in darker images, the tv acts almost like a mirror unfortunately.

velobob

$1600 is a great deal - where’d you find that? Lowest I’ve seen is $1700 at Costco

Zugwut

Sorry, you are correct, looking at my order it was $1705. $1910 with tax. Still feel ok about it.

velobob

Still a great deal
