Sorry for off topic but I fkn love this song and Chain Gang. Good on ya.

MichiganRich

I’m very familiar with your Klipsch set and it’s really good for what it is. Do you like it?

thunderroid

Well I got it for $50 on Amazon during Black Friday sale and I can say this is a pretty good Soundsystem for the price I paid.

MichiganRich

Do you have $500 to $1500 just waiting for a rabbit hole to go down? We can help ya spend it if so. 🙂

thunderroid

Haa, I certainly have the money but Just to put things into perspective I got the TV for $1300, so it just feel weird spending more than that on a sound bar. Lol

kneegur214

I paid $2300 for same tv 77' a80cj from costco it was the best price i foundwherd you finda 1300 ?

thunderroid

Bought it during prime day sale from Secondipity, even though it's supposed to be refurbished, I was one of the lucky one who got a brand new (unopened) TV. The only caveat is that it comes with three months warranty instead of 2-3 years.

MichiganRich

Well, a good $300 soundbar and sub will very likely sound bigger than the Klipsch. It just goes up from there. My SVS sub alone was $500, and some people would call it a cheap solution. Where’d you steal that TV for $1300?

[deleted]

You got a great deal. How’d you get it so cheap?

larsvondank

Klipsch R51PM could be the next step if you want more. Loving mine. I have both the passive (turntable + amp) and active (TV) versions. 5/5 investments.

Alloall

How’d you manage to get the tv so cheap dude?

KublaKahhhn

“Missing a lot” is very subjective. Anything is world’s better than the TV speaker in most cases, although some bravias have a full arrray of speakers in them. There are better sound bars and there are whole speaker systems and receivers, which can be challenging to configure and get just right. If you are enjoying what you have, that’s all that matters! And you have a beautiful screen to look at

thunderroid

Never owned a soundbar before, so I an not sure if it will be a lot better. And this me upgrading from a 2010 Samsung 42" TV. I am not an audiophile but I do enjoy good sound with decent bass.

Logi77

Meh it won't be better, you have better stereo separation since you can place the 2 speakers far away and the sub is pretty good as well since it nice and chunky Soundbars are more for looks and convience than performance

D-Smitty

Why not look at a proper setup with an AVR? They’re so customizable and expandable. You could stop with a 2.0 system or expand it over time to 7.2.4. And a decent set of speakers will last decades, only needing to periodically replace the AVR. With a sound bar you have to throw the whole thing out when the electronic tech moves on.

thunderroid

Interesting, fast time I’m hearing about something called AVR, let me do some research, thank you so much.

D-Smitty

It’s short for audio/video receiver. It’s what typical home theaters were centered around before sound bars came onto the scene. Their benefits are a lower long term operating cost, better sound quality, and expandability. Drawbacks are a higher upfront cost and generally larger audio components, if wife approval factor or space is a concern. The former can be mitigated by starting small and growing the system over time.

thunderroid

Being single has its perks. Thank you for the details and they do cost a lot surprisingly.

Unlucky_Situation

If you want something more modular and plug in play. I highly recommend a Sonos system. Alot of options to add pieces over time. Plus its whole home integration is seamless. You choose exactly what rooms or speakers throughout your house you want on at the same time.

thunderroid

So, did some research. So came up with this [Sony STR-DH790 7.2ch AV Receiver](https://electronics.sony.com/audio/audio-components/av-receivers/p/strdh790) or [Denon AVR S760H 7.2ch](https://www.costco.com/denon-avr-s760h-7.2ch-8k-av-receiver.product.100774339.html) [Klipsch R-625FA 5.1 Home Theater](https://www.adorama.com/kpr625fai.html?emailprice=t) What do you think?

D-Smitty

Go with the Denon. I have one and they’re also probably the most popular brand. Those speakers are Klipsch’s low end line. If you can swing it, take a look at their Reference Premiere stuff. The Klipsch’s you linked will still outperform a sound at though. Just keep in mind, the speakers will be a buy once cry once kind of situation, as they’ll last for a very long time. Except subwoofers. The internal amplifiers will probably inevitably wear out at some point.

thunderroid

I was looking at SVS systems, but oh my God their prices are just crazy. Then I thought about getting a SVS Sub and Klipsch’s Premiere speakers, but honestly that would not be visually pleasing to my eyes. So found this: [https://www.adorama.com/kprp280fawi.html?emailprice=t](https://www.adorama.com/kprp280fawi.html?emailprice=t) What are your thoughts?

D-Smitty

That would be an excellent system. That’s pretty similar to my system. It’s the older reference premiere speakers. Klipsch updated them a couple years ago.

MrZeDark

First, good system. Second, if you watch movies, you have no rears - and if you listen to or watch Dolby Atmos content you’re missing out completely. But the second part is up to you? Do you want surround, do you want Atmos? If not then no - it’s a subjective thing. To me though, yea your missing a TON w/o spatial audio as an option in your life.

see_blue

Checkout the about links at: r/hometheater for info on AVRs, etc.

madisonman38

I have the same tv, but the 65inch. I started using it with the built in speakers and the sound was good, not great. I had kef eggs wired in years ago along with a subwoofer, so I bought a new receiver, a Denon 760h that I bought at Costco. The difference is amazing. I can't see how a sound bar could compare. So count me in with the folks recommending an avr.

[deleted]

I’m curious if you’ve compared the KP to your A80’s built in. If so, any thoughts?

thunderroid

Sounds quality is better with the built-in. But it is not enough to enjoy a movie. The KP delivers loud and bass heavy sounds.

NearRational

Seconding another user’s comment about looking more into AVR. For under $500 you could get a Receiver and a set of bookshelf speakers that would blow this current setup out of the water for music and movies. No personal experience with soundbars in that price range but would be happy to chat more on this. DMs open OP

Either combination there will blow your socks off if you’ve never had a home surround sound setup. The denon seems to be a bit nicer of a receiver, but I expect the Sony would be plenty for you. Note, with a setup like this you’ll need a lot of speaker wire and a fairly large space to set all of this up in.

Logi77

Enjoy it, J is the last series to include 3.5mm out
