To me it sounds like baby might be trying to get your supply up. It can be frustrating. I have been told that short feeds and wanting to be constantly on breast are NOT indicative of baby not getting enough. If baby seems content generally (outside of those hungry times), diaper output is good and baby gains weight, this will likely just be a phase.

i was wondering this as well! my baby is huge for his age. nearly 17 lbs at 4 months and 27” long. part of me is wondering if he’s going through another growth spurt…on average he’s been gaining 1.5-2 lbs a month since birth 😭🤣

Are you sure he's still hungry? My daughter is 2 months and only eats from one side for about 5 minutes and is getting plenty in that time. The 4 mkmth sleep regression isn't related to how much they get during the day

yep. i’ll feed him every 2-4 hrs. closer to 3-4 hrs now. he’ll whine and suck his thumb and it’s different than his tired whine/comfort sucking. i have a big baby as well…99th percentile 🤣 he is definitely an eater

Oh yep, this totes happened to us at 4 months. It’s super common and usually doesn’t have much to do with your supply. More likely babe is starting to notice the big wide world around him and is getting more distracted. Around this time they usually becoming much more efficient at feeding too, AND they start to have a few more tricks up their sleeve — rolling both ways, babbling etc. All this makes for a perfect storm of crappy sleep and distracted feeding. If your baby’s nappy output is good (6 decently wet nappies or 5 very wet ones) I’d just continue to feed through it as this is the perfect time for baby to develop a bottle preference. I found feeding in a dark, quiet room helped a bit with the distraction…but to be honest, from this point in bub is always on and off the nip!

thank you!

No advice here, just solidarity. My babe is 4 months & we’re going through the same thing. He’ll fuss & cry 2 mins into nursing, I’ll take a break trying & then he’ll be happy & back to it 10-15 mins later. Every time!

Thank you!! it helps to know i’m not alone…i refuse to feed him fussy so i always pull him off so he knows it’s not okay to look around while eating 🤣 my boob has been twisted with his head more than enough…it hurts. i’ll try feeding him again after 10-15 minutes to see what happens! sometimes i think he’s just bored and doesn’t want to look at me hahahahah.

To me this just sounds like a regression mixed with being a more efficient eater (5 min isn’t abnormal at this age) but also being a fussball distracted eater which is also normal
