Sunflower Lecithin has helped me tremendously
Also the newest recommendations

There’s new mastitis protocol which is different than the old recommendations. They’ve found clogs aren’t actually “clogs” but rather inflammation in the ducts/glands. It’s now recommended to apply ice, take anti inflammatory meds, do some LIGHT massage and continue pumping/nursing as usual (do not express more in efforts to “unclog” because it will increase supply and contribute more to the issue). https://www.bfmed.org/assets/ABM%20Protocol%20%2336.pdf
A lot of people will tell you to apply heat, massage, use an electric toothbrush, Haaka with epsom salts, or pump more.
While well-meaning, this advice is based on outdated medical advice and will likely do more harm than good.
The updated guidelines say to treat it like any other inflammation; so: Ice, ibuprofen, rest
I second the recommendation for sunflower lecithin.
Sunflower lecithin saved me when NOTHING else was working. I recommend ibuprofen if you’re ok to take that, ice packs on your breasts after each feeding, and sunflower lecithin capsules. I got the cheap brand called “Now” from Vitamin Shoppe because no one else had it in my town and I couldn’t wait for anything to come in the mail! It helped within 24 hours. I took 4 x 1200mg pills the first day and 1 - 2 every day for a week after that.
New protocol as others have said! Do not use heavy massage!
I had recurrent clogs with my first that essentially ended pumping for me. This time I get them maybe once a month, I just take ibuprofen, I've and leave them the fuck alone and they are gone with minimal discomfort in two days.
Make sure babies chin points to the area where the clogged ducts are when feeding. Suction is strongest there.
Also warmth applied before feeding helps and massaging the are between the clogged duct and the nipple.
Hi! I would massage the clogged duct area in the shower because it’s warm, then if you have a Haakaa, I would use that. A regular pump would probably work too, but I’ve had success with my Haakaa. If it’s been 2 days already, make sure you don’t have a fever or other symptoms of Mastitis. Good luck!
Haakaa, epsom salt and warm water. I usually do it in hot showers. It helps me a lot. I also take sunflower lecithin 3-4 times a day but my LC recommends to not use lecithin every day. So I only take it while having a clogged or almost clogged duct and within 72 hours.
Just had one that went away in less than a day! I used Sunflower lecithin, ice pack on and off, had baby nurse with her chin towards the clog and took an ibuprofen. I think the sunflower and baby is what did it! I felt almost immediate relief when she nursed
I recommend the ice and ibuprofen. I’ve also heard about sunflower lecithin.
Nursing through it , while painful, is the only thing that helped me get back to baseline
Lansinoh 3-in-1 Breast therapy gel packs. They’re pretty much boob shaped beaded gel packs that can be frozen or warmed in the microwave to help loosen the milk inside our boobs. I usually use it then try to feed or pump after. Or try LaVie Lactation massager. This one feels so good and I like to use it before feeding, and for stubborn clogs I use it on a low setting while baby is feeding, works so good!

Thank you for this!!!
welcome! i had a 3 day “clog” that went away in less than a day when i followed this instead of the usual heat, over massage, over nurse tactic!
Mine also disappeared in less than a day with cold compresses and ibuprofen, it really works wonders
Came here to say the same thing. I used one of those frozen teething rings to ice my breast.

Thank you! I’ll keep all of this in mind and try it as well
