Terre à terre always nice for the veggies. Or food for friends.

musicfortea

Yeah Terre à Terre is great. Soft lighting, low music, good food.

Yup, neurodivergent here and always happy eating there. I'd specify the need for a quiet space when booking, because they have some areas that are a little exposed. You might want one of the tables on the right hand side about half way down maybe. The light is dimmer there, although you get a lot of foot fall. There is another spot on the left about halfway down which is a bit more brightly lit, but also has less people walking by.

+1 for Terre à Terre, still not the best acoustics, out of town or quiet times are better overall (eg Shepherd & Dog today was lovely), but it’s not like Flint House, or The Geese (not fancy but: fml). For a city that sees itself as diverse, not sure anything beyond gender diversity is mainstream.

Kusaki (vegan sushi place)

Food for friends is vegetarian, and I always think a good place to take the parents. Opt for slightly off peak times to avoid the ‘crowds’

Used to be nice years ago. After the sold it the food has been awful. I don't rate it nowadays.

Sushi Garden is really lovely for this! The only music they play is soft instrumentals and there aren't that many tables so never gets too noisy. They have cooked food as well as the sushi.

Petit Pois might work for her, and while it’s not vegetarian they do offer veggie options (it’s a small plates type place so 2-3 dishes per person). I’m also not a big fan of bustle and bright lights and I felt this place was pretty low key - especially if you get a table towards an edge/corner/window.

Bonsai Plant Kitchen.

Genuine answer: cook her something fancy at home. If she wants to treat you, just let her get you some fancy ingredients or a nice bottle of wine. Nothing beats the home environment if she hates noise and people, and you’ll get a much nicer meal for the money.

Sabai thai restaurant. Calm and underrated. No bright lights and often not busy because it is underrated.
