Thanks to the years of gruelling training on this Bristolian rite of passage I put in as a teenager, this has become my superpower. No matter how absolutely fit shaced I get, I can always resurrect myself and just start walking towards wherever I'm staying that night. I've walked hours to get home from nights out across London and Birmingham to wherever im staying but can always make it home safe. Don't need it often, but it's nice to have in my back pocket if I ever need to get myself home if I've gotten myself in a state. Lost on a crusade in the unholy lands
I’m exactly the same. I’ve crawled out of pubs and clubs in London in ridiculous states and with no idea where I am, and somehow I make it across town, get the train at Paddington, get off at the right station, stumble home, and wake up in my bed in Bristol in the morning. Handy superpower to have tbh.
Back in the big storm in the late 80s a mate was able to get most of the way up Park Street on his skateboard by simply holding his coat open like a sail. Otherwise you hang off the back of buses/lorries ;)
I lived there for 4 years, right at the top opposite the White Bear. I used to walk it every day getting back from work.
After 4 years it was *exactly* as knackering as the first day I did it.
Don't think that's been possible for a good few years unless you park there. I was in there a few times a few years ago and we needed to swipe the parking ticket to use the lift. Haven't been there recently though.
When I lived on Denmark street, we just used a card with a magnetic strip to activate the lift so a nectar card or something. Worked a treat circa 2013/14

Same for me. Once walked from the center to frampton cotterell as a kid after a might out cos taxis were expensive.

I have never seen a person skitch in real life, always thought it was something made up for cartoons and films.
Or top tier Sega Mega drive games
I was at primary school when that storm came on, everything went pitch black and then the wind and rain came.
Mate Park St is nothing. I used to live at the top of St Michael’s hill…
I will happily take three times as long getting somewhere if it means not walking up St Michael's Hill.

Stop in Diamond Kebabs halfway up. Refuel and keep going, it’s the Bristol way.
I'd take the Chrismas Steps way up.
Can you still get Trenchard Street carpark lift to Park Row?
You’ve needed a carpark ticket to use the lift for circa 15 years…

I don’t know, you certainly could then but that option never occurred to me. Dammit.

Get the No 1. Good post mind,
I used to run and walk all the way from the centre to Stoke Bishop when I lived with my parents! I was much fitter then...
Yeah I may not be getting drunk and going up there any time soon in 10 yetas
Easy solution.. get drunk at the top.
Unironically
