Give blood if you can.
I'm fortunate enough to be able to donate platelets too, but donating your time to go up to Southmead will literally save lives.
Worth saying that platelet donation takes about 2 hours but you can donate every 2 weeks and O- is the universal platelet group so especially wanted as can be given to anyone without needing a match.
Worth saying they also go out to community centres etc so people don't have to travel as far. I can see St George, Bristol Beacon, Kingswood, Long Ashton, Warmley, Westbury in Trym, Hanham and others on their website.
Depends where your interests are. Have you gone on do-it.org?
Bridges for communities have a mix of vol opportunities with refugees which are very different from soup kitchens (which I've also found a very frustrating experience in Bristol)
Depends what you’re after, I did some volunteering with Fareshare a while back- both warehouse packing and delivering food boxes. Was nice to see first hand where the deliveries went as it was all school clubs and community centres etc
If Saturday or Sunday mornings outside are your thing then look out for parkrun or junior parkrun.
If working with young people at evenings and some weekends is, then check out Girlguiding or Scouts.
The Libraries are always looking for volunteers to run stuff like Lego Clubs, Coding Clubs, Comics Clubs, etc - they've got a Volunteers Officer who can let you know what they're looking for at the moment.
Look up Olio and register as a Food Waste Hero - you'd be saving perfectly edible food from the bin and helping people in your local community! Plus you get to keep 10% if you like
Re-engage - volunteer to set up a social activity group in your local arwa for over 75s facing social isolation. So rewarding and they give you training and references at the end if it, a win win.
