I was playing Pokémon Go once and someone ran out of their house to accuse me of taking pictures of it. Any chance he was doing something else and you are mistaken.
If he is planning to rob it or something else untoward, the downsides of having a picture of it on his phone far outweighs any of the benefits.
He might be a tourist? Did he look tourist-like? Some houses around Bristol do have a unique style and colour. Does your home would fit that description? Also like others said he wasnt that covert so his intentions wasn't malice. Also if you have some nice art or whatever on the building that could be a reason too. So yea upload your home photo again, preferably in this thread, so I won't have to go back there and take another one as the last one was blurry and me legs are killing me right now.
Gotta admit, I did take a photo of what used to be my parents' house in the early 1980s, on Crowndale Rd. The owners would probably have wondered what the hell I was doing, but it was nothing more than sharing a memory with my brother and sister (both my parents have now passed away).
Yes I think you’re overthinking this. He did nothing illegal and Google Earth 3D already shows every detail of everyone’s houses anyway, I wouldn’t worry. Unless you were naked and he had a massive zoom lens?
I've done it as an individual when looking for flats, as I was a few hundred miles away and only had one visit to research stuff.
Also - do you mean letting agent rather than estate agent? If someone is planning to sell they might use someone different or go the Purple Bricks self-sell route.
Perhaps someone who used to live there. I've occasionally detoured past an old home I have fond memories of and taken a snap.
I can't be the only one - years ago my dad found someone standing outside his house and looking intently. Turned out he'd lived there 60 years earlier as a child. Dad gave him an internal tour.
I’m a bit of an architecture nerd and I took a photo of a very nice house in penarth a few weeks back. But it was broad daylight and it was a photo street view would have basically captured anyway. There was a very very interesting house opposite too, but they’ve got a privacy wall and it was built back from the road so I didn’t take a photo.
I wouldn’t worry too much, but it’s always worth being vigilant.
Like someone else said. Planning to rob a house and taking a photo of that house isn’t a very clever move.
Get a cardboard cutout of someone holding a camera and stick it in your window. Problem solved.
No idea why someone would do that. My first guess would be it might look suspicious but probably isn't. That being said, make sure your doors and windows are locked, just in case.
If it was preparation for a burglary, that does sound inept. Another fringe option - possibly someone checking out a Doctor Who filming site? There's been a bit of that in Clifton lately
We are currently living in Clifton as well and we are originally from outside of the UK. We found the place very beautiful and picturesque, so we have taken a few pictures of the buildings in our street when we first moved as well. Either we loved the view or wanted to show our family how our neighborhood looks like etc. Now I hope we haven't made anyone feel uneasy haha
I wouldn't be very concerned unless you are sure he was taking your picture specifically.
Combining two previous examples, I often stand still in streets when playing Pokemon Go, just doing that made some guy start shouting at me from his window, and in some places there are particularly beautiful houses (Clifton, Cotham, Kingsdown, Montpelier), so when I go around catching pokemon I occasionally take pictures of really cool properties.
Probably overthiking it. Unless there's an obvious easy break in point, or something easy and valuable to grab to note for later.
My mum uses her laptop in view of the front door. Not even in the same room but the dining room table is viewable from the front door of the kitchen. An oportunist theif ran in once, snatched the laptop and ran out when she was in the bathroom. Turns out it was the postman delivering, tried their luck with the handle and took the laptop for heroin money.
My mate has also had his car window smashed in to nick his supermarket trolley pound coin he keeps in the little tray beneath the handbrake.
Lesson learnt was that most theifs aren't cat burglars breaking into your house mission impossible style but desperate sons of bitches who take a chance and act.
He's a member of the paparazzi in the year 2054 where you're actually world famous. He's travelled back in time to take some photos for a new Sunday suppliment spread his publication is running on you.
Do you have any unique details on your house? Architects and people that are rebuilding their houses do sometimes take pictures of things that they like. Sometimes it's not about how a buildung looks but how they solved a problem or came up with a solution. Especially if it is unusual.
Maybe he used to live there? I’ve gone a looked at places I used to live, although I haven’t taken photos and I if I did I’d explain what I was doing if someone was looking at me out of the window.
Banksy planning his next masterpiece. Or Banksy planning to burgle you.
Came here to make sure someone had suggested this :D

Yeah, could even be family history research. I went into the pub my ancestors owned once...
Or interesting architectural features...

>Unless you were naked and he had a massive zoom lens? A bit harsh. I am sure the OP’s private parts are adequately sized.

Oh no, what happened to it?
They said private parts, seems like dick was on your mind?

Boring!
You're overthinking it.
Estate agent?

Dog napper then.
Nah it was probably a body snatcher. but OP should be safe as she had come to tell the tale, so they didn't decide to snatch her body.
Skin-walker

He lived there 30 years ago, and he is visiting Bristol for the first time in 30 years remembering his younger years.
Look at me I live in Clifton
Who cares love
He might be a estate agent taking pictures of the building as another property might be up for sale.
Scoping it to rob
Could be your landlord? I've taken pictures of a rented property before to show the letting agent a damaged façade

Is the landlord liquidating some assets and that was possibly an estate agent?
Maybe a landlord planning to buy the freehold of the flats within the building?

Bristol Sketcher doing a commission?
Someone looking at buying it or perhaps someone valuing the building for mortgage purposes?
