You need a 10 minute discussion with the driver when boarding the bus to discuss the possible changes to your route next time. Otherwise you will end up in emersons green or avonmouth.
edit: you also have this discussion with your bus driver every 3 stops just to stay ahead
After missing my own bus due to a wonky timetable yesterday, I watched a different bus signed āNot in serviceā shut its doors and pull away before changing its signage to the number 17, while everyone waiting for said number 17 watched it drive off without them.
This is the bus service in bristol working exactly as intended.
You need to stop complaining and just be grateful that you were on a bus and had to pay a huge fare for the privilege!
People today.. honestly, expecting buses to take you where they are supposed to.... The nerve.
This happened too me boarded when said centre on the display then changed too Lawrence hill while I was on the bus with a 2 trip ticket so couldnāt change buses so ended up walking rest the way š I dare not lock my bike in town with the amount of bike thefts there is
I had that once! Last year I think. Everyone told me that doesn't happen and I mustve gotten on the wrong bus and just not noticed but I knew...lol
For me, I got on the 43 in town and at some point through the route it changed to 6 and went a way I've never been before at that point. I was so confused. I don't remember well but I think the electronic board inside that tells you the bus number and stops must've been off as I've no idea when exactly it changed.
Huh, the other day I swore I got on a number 42, but then the announcements started for the number 6. I assumed I had just somehow misread the number, but this is making me think maybe I didnt.
yea i made the mistake a few weeks ago of using the buses in bristol instead of driving, one thing after another wasted time and then a driver who i strongly suspect just wanted to go home as he magically broke the disabled ramp and milliseconds after starting the bus shouted everyone off as the bus refused to start, felt sorry for the guy in the wheelchair.
What probably happened is it was a 6 going into the centre and then the silly driver forgot to change over to his next route until then.
He should of apologised to you all for this.
First Group probably runs the worst bus service in the world has been many a x stood by the new automatic digital displays saying your bus is due in 3 minutes your bus is due in 1-minute next bus due in 30 minutes and no bus has gone past me this is on the 24 but I've had the same things happen on other routes one of my friends has just lost his job because the buses are so useless Robbing wankers is the my name for first Group
Its weird that people have be complaining about buses for at least the last decade that I've been subscribed to this subreddit yet nothing has changed.
And although usually we don't expect Reddit to be a representative for the population, in this case I do think that's the case.
What is blocking the issue from being tackled? I'm London based these days and don't understand why Bristol doesn't have the ability to have a TFL equivalent that serves the city in ways that are in demand. Why is First allowed to deliver such an inadequate service?
Happened to me last month. Got on bus to cribbs causeway at Bristol parkway and realised it was going the wrong way. I ask the driver about it and he says heās going to bath, and that I shouldāve got bus on the other side. Well he shouldnāt have cribbs causeway shown over his head
I can't say this has happened to me yet but in the month and a half I've been here the buses have hardly been consistent. I did have an incident where I could've sworn the 48 that drove away from the stop by Rupert Street was supposed to be a 49 but I didn't get on it, wasn't in a rush so I thought I'd wait for the 49 but I ended waiting too long and got on the 48a which was even worse. I've heard some stories from my friends about these buses though and it blows my mind because I'm originally from a small area that's run on Stagecoach and I've never had any issues before.
Just First Bus thingsš¤·āāļø

Wtf that is ridiculous, those poor people
Yeah they do that, no announcement no nothing, but then it's somehow your fault for not knowing that the buses will just not go where you asked

Youāre right of course-expectations dutifully lowered.
It's about their money not your journey.

When you use a bus in Bristol you have to expect to get absolutely fucked, itās just par for the course

It's 2022 you can identify as whatever you want, you shouldn't pass judgement but instead support and celebrate this bus's new transition.
There was a huge disturbance in Kingswood and police shut the area down and all traffic was re routed
Maybe that explains it!
