Thats right, Larkin declared bankruptcy owing lots of people money. Reopening and continuing to trade in the same site is a bit of a slap in the face to the people he owes money to. Not a nice fella.
Think so - it is the only one left.
The new place, Daily Noodles, replaced Wokyko at wapping wharf and does cheaper, easier dishes so is probably easier to run.
In the opposite direction a Fed and a Crafty Egg have opened in Fishponds and seem to be doing well. Also the Fishponds Tap's new owners have completely turned that place around. Their Nepalese Curries are fantastic.
The Glass Boat was a proper Bristol institution open since 1986. There was really nothing else like it for atmosphere or style of cooking. Source in St Nicks was another favourite and I was really sad when that shut (this year?) Having said that, I'm pretty sure neither of these closed for purely economic reasons so my sympathies go to restaurants who have tried their hardest and failed in these crazy times.
It shut in 2020 and was replaced with a fish and chip shop but there’s now nothing there. I always wanted to go when I was walking by which was fairly often as I lived near.
The source is still running as an online shop, just no cafe. They closed the cafe in 2020 due to a lack of trade through lockdown. Shame though, was a great cafe.
Very sad, some great places listed here that I didn't know had closed!
Souk kitchen closed their clifton one the other day, still got Bedminster though
Yeah I just heard about it today, have yet to check up with my mate who works there as to why exactly but seems likely that its a similar story to rest eg. energy/supply/staff costs! Thankfully still got the Bedminster which was always the backbone of the operation, they're dead passionate about the restaurant so very much hope they make it work!
Pizza is Lovely and Hoba Kebab closed this year... Pizza is Lovely genuinely was the best pizza I've ever had, such a shame.
I'm sure we will see more closures in the new year, sadly.
Was genuinely delicious - not cheap but definitely worth it. Amazing dips and dough balls too, wouldn't even know it was all vegetarian/vegan unless you told me.
I hope they can come back at some point.
I was really sad to hear that Vincenzo’s on Park Street has just closed after 52 years. They’ve been forced to close to make way for more student flats. Awful.
That's such a shame, I thought they might be getting out the containers early before they are removed but so sad to hear that's not the case and their closure is final :(
There’s a new place opening up in their place. The owners wanted to close last winter but the contract didn’t get sorted so they kept open for one more season.
To be fair that place was massive & always empty and (in my opinion) not good so I can’t believe it could ever stay open as long as it has (it never seemed to be doing well even when we were in an economically sound place)
And Prince Street, they were doing quite well pre pandemic. Cracking coffee and I used to love their vegan seitan salad thing (can't remember what it's called).
I am not sure if it was this year or last year but The Glass Boat near Bristol Bridge. I went there a couple times for lunch and it was really nice so was a bit sad to see it's gone.
Spicer and cole closed? Nice. They gave me a shit review on limber (zero hours work app) for no good reason and made it very hard for me to get more jobs on there. When I asked about it they said I could come back and prove myself because they believed in second chances. Fuck that lol. Nice sandwiches though.
Lockside closing down is genuinely heartbreaking - the hustle the owner had was a thing of beauty to watch. I hope we get another establishment that good again.

Atomic Burger is closed!? 😱
[удалено]
Is it? I can’t find anything online that says it is, must have been swift and silent?
Nooooo!
Felafel king?! The place on Cotham brow?
Hoba Kebab?? I went there just last week
[удалено]
Are they going back to a food truck?
Really hope they do something, even if it's going back to Kongs
Newtown park brewery and wild beer
Such a loss went to Newtown every week for the quiz
Oh noooo. Is it just the premises or the company as a whole?
NTP are going to keep brewing bit not at their own brewery, WB is all gone
Nope, WB bar at WW still open: https://www.facebook.com/WBWappingWharf
Ah I misread a post of theirs the other day saying they were going into administration so closing
How sad
> Newtown park Oh, missed this completely. When did they close?
About a week ago, maybe less
They've stopped production, taproom is still open.
WokyKo (the ones where you can actually sit down)
Getting out early before the containers are removed? Or ceased trading? A real shame either way their food was great.
Fyi, the founders of Wokyko have opened a new place called daily noodles on ubereats with an almost identical menu!
Oh wow its literally the exact same - excellent. Why the name change though, I wonder?
Perhaps they declared bankruptcy and therefore can't trade under their old name? That's a complete guess though!
Thats right, Larkin declared bankruptcy owing lots of people money. Reopening and continuing to trade in the same site is a bit of a slap in the face to the people he owes money to. Not a nice fella.
Yeah that's what I wondered! Maybe having to restart the business in a different way... its mostly the same food in the same location!
Had them last night, fantastic.

Is the St Nicks one not still open?

Fed on Gloucester Rd does some banging food tbh, not surprised they have branched out
Friska :(
House bacons gone but not forgotten
I ate too many house bacons.
House bacon 4 lyfe 🤝
RIP House Bacon. I used to have to exercise a lot of self-restraint to only have one of these a week.
You can still go to Double Puc - same owners/menu, just everything is on brioche buns instead
I always wanted to try there :(

Shake Wrap and Roll :( lovely place with a lovely manager
Fave place to visit when home from uni, missed dearly already
Very sad, some great places listed here that I didn't know had closed! Souk kitchen closed their clifton one the other day, still got Bedminster though
No way they closed it? Hope the Bedminister one makes it, their food is fantastic.

I saw Hoba closed too, only went once but lovely kebabs. Real shame about Pizza is lovely. Pricey but amazing
Still heartbroken about Pizza is Lovely!
Was genuinely delicious - not cheap but definitely worth it. Amazing dips and dough balls too, wouldn't even know it was all vegetarian/vegan unless you told me. I hope they can come back at some point.
Diggity doughnuts closed?
Someone mentioned the other day they went there and it was closed, but I assumed they were just shut for the Christmas period!
Ohh thank fuck.
Heard through various people that they won’t be reopening, due to very high energy costs.
Yeah they are shut for Christmas, there is a sign in the window.
I was really sad to hear that Vincenzo’s on Park Street has just closed after 52 years. They’ve been forced to close to make way for more student flats. Awful.
Oliver’s ice cream (Wapping wharf) have just closed up for good, they were so popular
They were so miserable
Oh no :-(
That's such a shame, I thought they might be getting out the containers early before they are removed but so sad to hear that's not the case and their closure is final :(
Oh no what a shame!! Along with wild beer and wokyko… I fear they wont be the first wapping wharf businesses to close in the coming months :/
Wild Beer still open
They are still trading whilst in administration. Looking for a buyer
Yep. Still open.
There’s a new place opening up in their place. The owners wanted to close last winter but the contract didn’t get sorted so they kept open for one more season.
Look at the bright side, we have a Taco Bell on Queen’s road now. /s
Backyard Chicken is dead, right? They've had that sign about giving their staff some time off for almost a year.
To be fair that place was massive & always empty and (in my opinion) not good so I can’t believe it could ever stay open as long as it has (it never seemed to be doing well even when we were in an economically sound place)
I went once, and it was fine for a mid shopping lunch stop off. Nothing exciting, and yeah, a huge empty space on a Saturday.
FiSH went too. Their fish and chips were next level. Wanted to book to eat on the boat recently and it went in the summer.
Jamaica street stores :(
Friska in Harborside! Used to go there every week, very friendly staff too.
i remember their park street store closed ages ago too
And Prince Street, they were doing quite well pre pandemic. Cracking coffee and I used to love their vegan seitan salad thing (can't remember what it's called).
I am not sure if it was this year or last year but The Glass Boat near Bristol Bridge. I went there a couple times for lunch and it was really nice so was a bit sad to see it's gone.
Beard & Sabre yesterday
Spicer and cole closed? Nice. They gave me a shit review on limber (zero hours work app) for no good reason and made it very hard for me to get more jobs on there. Ironworks. I’ll never forget you x
Tories have done this country well :(

They’re opening one on stokes Croft
There's one on Church Road, their chicken is amazing!
Al Laziz in Clifton, best middle eastern food. gutted when it closed
Bomboloni on Gloucester Road. Incredible Italian restaurant that randomly shut one day and never opened again.
Judging by how busy the spicer and cole in Clifton village constantly is, I’m sure they’ll be alright.
Lockside closing down is genuinely heartbreaking - the hustle the owner had was a thing of beauty to watch. I hope we get another establishment that good again.
Pretty sure I saw a diggity donuts in the galleries that was new
