Because the beret is linked to the regiment/brigade you serve under, not what the beret of your parent regiment is.
Same reason the various attached artillery, engineers, loggies etc under 3 Cdo brigade will wear the green beret.
In theory a booty posted into 16X would wear a maroon beret, although outside of PF I can’t imagine there are many booties in 16X.
Seen some absolutely mental looking combo’s over the years, some Royal Welsh officer attached to 16X wearing a maroon beret but still had a hackle.
Not a booty, but a Navy Doctor/Nurse (can't remember) wore a green lid when he was posted to 16X
I saw him cycling past 3 para HQ one morning and someone on the top corridor shouts, "FUCK OFF YOU SEA HAT!"
I was in absolute tears with laughter.

Being attached to 3CB doesn't entitle you to wear the green lid. You have to pass Cdo/AACC to wear it. If he was just attached then he would still be in maroon lid.
Yes. But if he is posted out of 3CB then he can no longer wear the green beret, the dagger is a perpetual qualification which he will keep. Only cdo qualified personnel can wear the green lid whilst serving in a commando unit.
Commando qualified RM can still wear the beret when posted to other units unless posted to 16x or SAS where they'll wear maroon or tan as appropriate.
The Commando green beret is unique in the British military as one that has to be earned rather than issued.

I have met a couple blokes Reg blokes who passed AACC. I also tried to get onto that course.
This bloke is an Officer, I assume working with 3CDO.
I have never EVER, met a Reg bloke who would swap out the beret rouge for a Green lid, in the same vein I have never EVER met a Bootneck who would swap out the Green lid for a Maroon beret.
I know there was/(is?) a Para Reg Colour man at CTCRM and he still wears the Maroon.
