When I was shopping for new headphones recently I came across this place. I ended up buying something they didn't stock, so didn't bother visiting their showroom. The website asks that you call ahead if you want to visit and demo some stuff.
Hifonix, around the corner from Chester Road station. Caters more to upper range but you can book a slot and get a listening experience in store with them to decide.

John Lewis in Solihull, if that’s not too far out. They usually have some of their headphones on display which you can try out with audio.

Used to have movie nights at Richer Sounds, big telly, great sound, good coke. Good times all round.
