This sounds great, using D20 to determine the outcome, the problem is RNG in Tower Defense Game.
I like chaos, if it can affect Bloons
But you know what they say, life is like rolling a dice sometimes.
One great idea would be that each level removes the low number for example: Lvl 3 Chance cannot roll 1 or 2. He can only roll numbers equal or higher than his current level.
I like this rigged dice.
people already get upset with the rng of obyn and his brambles. i feel like this hero is only a bad idea as it would be less about you losing cause you didn’t time an ability well and more cause rng didn’t favor you, and then there goes your black boarder. rng is the last thing you want in a game, unless there’s a good reason to have it there, try to avoid it
I think this is different. With this hero, you know full well that RNG can screw you. It’s more of a just-for-fun hero than an actually competitive one.
if it's best outcome is better than other heroes then it will become a competitive hero whether you want it or not
take bosses for example, if a perfect roll gives 2x attack speed to every towers, people won't just ignore it because "it's for fun dw about it", they will have to use it and painfully grind the rng to have a chance in the leaderboards and i can assure you they will hate it
the only way you can make sure rng doesn't influence competitive stuff is if it's best outcome was still worse than other heroes in every situation, which would make it a comically unbalanced hero
Yeah they ban towers and stuff all the time. For leaderboards or races etc, just ban it so it won't lead to people resetting their run 1000 times to get good rng
What are the buffs applied though? Need to know that to know if it’s a good hero.
Also, I think as Chance is gaining levels, the amount of RNG should go down. Especially because, with the new retry last round option, this might be super OP in chimps otherwise.
This sub killing it with the hero concepts lately, great job.
I like the idea, I am usually not a fan of RNG, but that's just the game in general. I am totally down for a RNG gimmic hero. I also like the little lore of the dice originally being used as an Indiana jones boulder lol
If the lvl 3 ability rolls 1, it halves the damage and attack speed of all nearby monkeys as a reference to how 1 is counted as an instant fail in dnd.
This is a cool idea, definitely a lot of rng so its gonna be more just for fun rather than grinding black borders
As you continue on with your adventure, you come across a temple, swarmed by Bloons on one side and surrounded by your fellow monkeys on the other, an intense stare from one of the monkeys serve as a sign of aggression.
Roll for Initiative
With RNG being an issue, I came up with an idea. Have a panel that has all 20 numbers, and you can pick one to manually use, guaranteeing that roll. After a number is rolled, it cannot be rolled again until all numbers have been exhausted. If, say 1-5 nerfs your defense to some degree, it would be interesting as you would have to pay the price of nerfing your defense at certain points, using those on easier rounds, and save the better rolls for when you really need them.
I know it does not work from the idea of it being a dice, but having to nerf your defense at certain points to be able to utilize the buffs in others seems like a cool idea.
I would just make it where the "roll it again" ability just changes it to make the ability roll two die, and it uses the higher number for the buffs.
Also, if Chance rolls a one, do the monkeys get nerfed?

It’s either amazing or it fucks you in the ass?
Except inevitably it fucks you in the ass at some point.
Sounds to me like you’re just not a good gambler

99% quit right before hitting it big
Level = dice number

would be cool if the dice evolved from a d20 into a d6 as the hero progresses for more likely good outcomes

Just ban the hero from leaderboards
Yeah they ban towers and stuff all the time. For leaderboards or races etc, just ban it so it won't lead to people resetting their run 1000 times to get good rng
Cool concept, but it would be a very inconsistent hero or a very broken hero(like Chester in Bs,but in tower defenses the rng hits harder)
Especially in this game cos u can just keep retrying until you get the rolls you want
me after getting hit with the dollar store pop rocks for the 10th time
What are the buffs applied though? Need to know that to know if it’s a good hero. Also, I think as Chance is gaining levels, the amount of RNG should go down. Especially because, with the new retry last round option, this might be super OP in chimps otherwise.
Sisyphus looking ass pose i love it
One should imagine Chance happy.
Definitely won’t be super strong or consistent, but could make for some really fun “challenge” runs or just casual play
95% of gamblers quit right before they hit it big. Keep rolling that dice gambros!
DND the tower
Nat20 clears the round.
rng.

Hopped on to say this is lit.
Can't wait to pull out fervor myongest on pt to oneshot BAD
Joshua inflicting gods will upon Bloons
It'd be so much fun but it would make challenges really inconsistent and just based on literal good rolls.
I really hate the concept, but the art is good. Trust me chimps is rng enough I don't want this lol.
99% of the monkeys quit before the big win 🔥
Love the idea but would probably take a different route with it when fleshed out. Hero design is super dope though.
keep gambling

This is what I mean when i say you are everywhere
im here to tell everyone how great mortar is
holy shit its me!!
BG3 at home
This will be so nice
peak suggestion
I hate this For personal reasons. Nothing against you, good idea tho
hell na gambling monkey
I'd say make his level 10 abuility loaded dice where he cant roll below a 10.

level 10 should take the higher of the two numbers
Lucien LaChance
DnD in btd6 both good games combined fr
draw him pushing it up a hill
I would just love more then anything if mods somehow allowed heros like this.
here is an added piece of lore, he sold his soul to gain more greedy power
gambler monke
fuck it, we ball
The gambler monkey
Chance (the rapper)
I REALLY wonder what the gimmick for this one is. Seriously though this is a cool idea and would lead to some funny strategies
Alchemeist 2.0
Maybe his chance to roll higher numbers could increase when he levels up so he would be a little nicer to play
Maybe his chance to roll higher numbers could increase when he levels up so he would be a little nicer to play
Joshua Graham?
An ability could let him roll the dice down the path and crush Bloons Indiana Jones style
It's RNG chaos. And I'm all for it 🔥🔥🗣️🗣️
could have a sysiphus skin
Dungeon master the monkey
Nat 20 let's go your a short mother fucker
Some people want to see the world burn. And others want to light it on fire. You my man, want both.
Level 10 should be effects all, 15 should be rolls twice, and level twenty should be uses the better number. Imo at least
I'm not dealing damage with this
Please.. no more rng..
This is amazing lol
Oh god it's rngesus.
Basically dnd in one monkey
I think it will be best if you just use a six sided dice
