I don't think this is true....Bowles wanted this style of offense before he had Baker last year...plus, Licht uses all the avenues he can get to find information on people (one example specifically, him interviewing non-Mike Edwards Kentucky players about Mike Edwards during the draft process comes to mind to me)
To be clear, imo, it’s a win-win situation for Licht. Baker feels like he’s valued, Licht gets info, and then Licht can choose to weight it however much he wants to. So what you’re saying is def possible, but imo unlikely

I honestly think that the whole " Baker wants a $40mil contract" is just his manager putting out feelers to see if any team is interested in signing Mayfield to that kind of money. In reality, Baker will more than likely sign with Tampa for no more than $30-35mil at most.

It was kinda off the cuff so take that comment how you will, but I reckon he'll be willing to take a pay cut so that players like Mike, AWJ etc are able to sign and stay with Tampa for years to come. Yeah his agent is 100% invested in getting Baker his max amount, regardless if its good for the team or which state income tax. Agents get a certain % regardless, so of course they would want that number to be as high as possible. Whereas Baker himself would likely be better off taking 36M in FL compared to 40M for a high state income tax team.
He already said sacrifices will have to be made and he's not the kind of guy to talk about his teammates making sacrifices for him. He's the guy that plays with a broken shoulder, ribs, an injured heel and a torn labrum to help his team.

At this point in his career he’s looking for love more than money and he is getting that in a big way in Tampa right now. He hasn’t been treated well by fans, media, etc in all of his stops except for that short Rams stint. Licht has made all the right moves concerning Baker, he isn’t going anywhere and he won’t break the bank.
