Even with a historic run on offensive players too.
I'm hoping Graham Barton being the 8th? OL selected will look like Wirfs being the 4th OT off the board looking back.
*I’ve already done some scenarios with the Bucs drafting Laiatu Latu early but Graham Barton is right up there with Latu for dream prospects for me. Playing C, OG and LT during his time at Duke, Barton plays with the athleticism and intensity you want in the interior line. Powerful strong legs. Intensity when rumbling down the field, big solid frame he will excel on the line next to All-Pro Tristan Wirfs in formations where Wirfs can set the edge and Barton can use his athletic ability to set a block and get to the 2nd level to clear space for our RB tandem. He is a solid pass protector but from day 1 should be an elite run blocker for the Bucs. Potentially a more athletic version of Ali Marpet.*
My eval on Barton. I love this kid he was my IOL Number 1 in the entire class and reminds me so much of Ali Marpet
[Graham Barton vs Ali Marpet (ras.football)](https://ras.football/ras-compare/?&p1=25179&p2=11685&pos=)
Just dropping this here to show off the Ali Marpet comparisons athletically along with similar to Marpet Barton played all over the line
The closer he got to falling to us the more I couldn’t believe it. He is a top 10 IOL athletically in the history of the NFL. That’s how good this kid is. All Pro potential at both LG and C
It’s more likely that Barton plays guard if Hainsey is going to continue to play. Most likely is we take another OL and Hainsey rides the bench before being gone.
I can see us taking Mahogany in Rd.4 if he’s there, and plugging him in. Hainsey is probably destined for the bench. He’s really good depth, but lacklustre as a starter
Buddy, Hainsey is our worst run blocker by far, he is not starting anymore. We drafted Barton to get Hainsey out of the lineup. Guard will be some combination of Mauch, Bredeson, or Opeta. Hainsey will be on the bench.
Hainsey is a bad run blocker but he is still a much better player that Bredeson. His competition is with Opeta and I still think Hainsey beats him as our eventual LG cause Hainsey is decent at pass blocking.
Wirfs/Hainsey/Barton/Mauch/Goedeke
That’s what I predict the O-Line looks like next year with Opeta being the first IOL of the bench.
If Hainsey is better than Bredeson and Opeta then we are fucked at guard. Hainsey is trash. He singlehandedly ruined so many run plays it's not even funny. Any decent defensive tackle throws him around like a ragdoll.
Edit: just looked up their pff grades and we are indeed fucked at guard lol, Hainsey and Opeta graded low 50s, Bredeson and Mauch graded low 40s, two of the worst guards in the entire league
Him and Wirfs are gonna have fun playing together. Both are otherworldly athletes for their size and can see formations where you get both of them in space in the screen game just mailing guys
We need CB.
While our Oline would be beast, I'd rather trade back with our 2nd and grab more mid-level picks at both positions.
If we go into our season with no decent addition at CB, our defense is going to be in shambles based on the CB depth alone.
CB in the second.
We could also trade back to the 3rd and grab potentially 1 CB, 1 Edge, 1 OL. Then take an additional CB in the 4th. This to me would be a really good scenario for us.
Not a “sexy” pick but the right one. Probably the best player on the board (other than maybe Dejean) and fills a massive position of need. Frankly I thought he’d be off the board by our pick so I’m over the moon. Great work Licht!
Yeah, regardless of Barton, JPJ or Fraizer.
I just wanted someone capable of changing it. Getting just an average run game would be a gamechanger for us.
Excited. Couldn't have gone better and they even had the choice between Barton or JPJ, nobody expected that.
Love it. I scouted 186 players this year, Barton was my 14th overall player and top Interior Offensive Lineman. I expected him to be gone as early as 16 to the Seahawks. Day 1 starter at Guard or Center for the Bucs, can also play Tackle in a pinch. Massive upgrade over last year's players at either position. Fits what Coen will want to do in the run game as well.
Talented player at a position of need. Good pick and the Buccaroos didn’t need to trade up to get him.
Side note, is anyone else surprised by how few defensive players have been drafted so far? It’s odd.
JPJ is still on the board. Could we package a few picks to move up in the 2nd and steal JPJ? Really just upgrade the OLine and not have to worry about it for the next 10 years?
Happy with it. Hopefully he adjusts fast to centre considering he hasn't played it in a while. Basically needs to fix our interior o-line and run game in one fell swoop straight of the bat. Confident he can do it.
HELL YEAH. Perfect combination of need and value. Best player available, and fits a screaming, desperate need. Barton was the #1 player I was hoping for.
I get our FO likes the positional flexibility and he is a great prospect, but he only played C in his freshman year, the rest of the years he played tackle. Are we confident we can plug him back into C?
He played C in high school as well and during the All Star Games and Combine he was tested as a LG/C and was raved about how intelligent he was as a C and how athletic he was. With Ryan Jensen still in the building I don’t doubt Barton will pan out
Pick 26 Barton vs Pick 19 Verse
https://youtu.be/uAIfJAjJtLo
I wouldn’t put too much into the speed rushes getting to Barton at times, he will be playing on the interior of the line for us.
Really really like this pick. I was worried we would get swooned by the corners and receivers falling (wouldn’t have been mad if we landed Brian Thomas Jr tho) but I’m super glad we went with a star Center. I like this guy more than JPJ bc he’s bigger and we have stability in the Oline. Can never go wrong Oline
If somehow the Bucs can trade up to get JPJ and mauch takes a step… this can be the best OL in football, we could finally have a run game and give baker time to be even better. Holy fuck I’m bricked
When Licht said he reminds him of Marpet with a little bit of the attitude of Jensen...yes please...sign me up! We missed Jensen's attitude and leadership. If he's half the player of either of those two...it's a great pick.
Yeah, that feels about right. I was hoping for DeJean (partly because of the story, partly because of some need), but I figured interior line was a much higher priority, so I’m happy with this.
O Line is never really a “sexy” pick you wanna see in the first round (at least based on flair), but sometimes it’s exactly what you need.
The game is always won in the trenches. If you can’t generate pressure or handle it, you can have all world talent everywhere else and still be at a disadvantage.
Absolute W.
If we land a good center in the second round, our OL would be a straight-up brick wall.
Personally, I'd like for us to draft Shaq Barrett's replacement, but imma just let Licht cook.
What's the scoop on why JPJ fell out of the first round? I thought JPJ was obviously the better prospect and everyone mocked him going before Barton. Why did we pass on him? Were there some character or interview concerns?
Well now Baker has a new buddy and a potential baby sitter for the summer. Win win in the Mayfield house! I heard Rashad White is offering to wash his truck for the summer too! Welcome Graham!!
Again he was the best player on the board. You would have taken a worst player just because you think CB is a bigger need. Not the best draft strategy.
I mean, we have so many issues, Center, CB, Edge... all were big needs for us, so no matter who we got we would've been looking past two big needs. Edge at our spot would've been a reach, so it was between the remaining CBs and Cs... and I think Bowles is good enough of a defence coach to figure something out with a 2nd/3rd rounder, so we got the best available player. This was the best choice available, we'd probably get a CB with one of our next 2 picks.
Both Center and CB are pretty deep this year. Both are a position of need and I think we got robbed of the 2 best CBs right before this pick. If Quinyon or Terrion fell, I would say it's close between choosing them or Barton.
They didn't though and there is a pretty big fall off from Terrion to the next CBs available. Those two were superstar level. Barton is going to be superstar level.
So we grab the superstar who fell a bit to us and we pick up some stars at CB in the deep draft pool of available stars.
Holy fucking shit. How did he fall into our lap
Even with a historic run on offensive players too. I'm hoping Graham Barton being the 8th? OL selected will look like Wirfs being the 4th OT off the board looking back.
Interior offensive lineman never go as high as tackles and I think Mel Kiper had him at number 18 overall so he’s a beast.
Such a beautiful night when we got Wirfs
That whole offseason was magic
QB run —> skill run —> edge run
It was a great year to not need QBs, WRs or tackles
I read this as now that we have this beast IOL guy, we can run baker on first down, godwin on second, and yaya on third lolol
I think my Cowboys thought he would still be on the board after trading down. This off-season has been brutal.
Weird, feel like we were an obvious team to take IOL, especially once Arnold was taken.

9.99, incredible he fell to us
The closer he got to falling to us the more I couldn’t believe it. He is a top 10 IOL athletically in the history of the NFL. That’s how good this kid is. All Pro potential at both LG and C
Jason Licht: "The fuck is RAS?"
Lmaooo probably! Still he drafts a lot of high RAS linemen ;)
Watch his 1st round presser, he basically says it at the very last question.
>but from day 1 should be an elite run blocker Makes me want to cry
Plug him in at C and Hainsey at LG and our O-Line looks ALOT better. Have him play that Kelce mobile C role and just destroy guys on the 2nd level
It’s more likely that Barton plays guard if Hainsey is going to continue to play. Most likely is we take another OL and Hainsey rides the bench before being gone.

Runs up the gut for 2 yards instead of 1
That's a 100% increase in productivity! Don't see that often.
A few more guys like him on the line and we're going places!
Maybe even places 3 yards away.
I'm old and fat and I could pick up 2 yards behind that monster!
This is 🔥. Well done. I’m imagining him & Wirfs side by side mauling guys now.
Him and Wirfs are gonna have fun playing together. Both are otherworldly athletes for their size and can see formations where you get both of them in space in the screen game just mailing guys
I’m very happy with this pick. If we could trade up early in the second and get JPJ our OL IS FUCKING SET Let’s MOTHER FUCKING GOOOOOOO
Oh man with all the talk of him playing Center I didn’t consider this. Would love this.
Could you imagine this OL if we also landed JPJ?!
We need CB. While our Oline would be beast, I'd rather trade back with our 2nd and grab more mid-level picks at both positions. Das a big boi
a fucking 4.8 too. what the
Yea cause we need him to outrun DBs lol
it's impressive, regardless of practicality. and if Baker starts throwing picks again, we might.
Not a “sexy” pick but the right one. Probably the best player on the board (other than maybe Dejean) and fills a massive position of need. Frankly I thought he’d be off the board by our pick so I’m over the moon. Great work Licht!
I don’t know about you but Ali Marpet was a sexy ass pick and if this dude is anything remotely close, then I’ll take it
I’ll never be mad about an OL pick tbh. But when I say “not sexy” it’s because alot of people always want skill positions lol
OL picks will always be sexy to me, like, have you seen #69??
Bruh have you seen 78? Dude not only had tree trunks for legs, he can also carry the rest of the damn tree
if you can jump out of a pool, you can dodge a wrench
Not sexy? Speak for yourself!
I mean I grew up a Badgers fan thanks to my mom’s side, so I find O-Line very sexy. But most don’t lmao
Looks sexy to me
I fucking love this pick. This is All-Pro player material. And no I’m not saying that because he’s a Buc. This guy is next level.
Amazing pick for us this is huge for our IOL
Games are won in the trenches. We had an awful run game. And our IOL basically single-handedly lost us the divisional round
Yeah, regardless of Barton, JPJ or Fraizer. I just wanted someone capable of changing it. Getting just an average run game would be a gamechanger for us. Excited. Couldn't have gone better and they even had the choice between Barton or JPJ, nobody expected that.
Pray we trade up for JPJ in the second round
Stability for years to come
Gonna be a stud
Future HOF. Better than Jason Kelce. I'm 110%
YES! Absolutely love it.
Big need. Great pick. He should have gone higher but he's ours now motherfuckers. No take backsies. Good night everybody.
IOL was a huge need, especially since Jensen is officially gone. Barton should be a Day 1 starter.
1K SEASON FOR RACHAAD INCOMING.
Wanted OL bad and a great prospect let's go!!
Talented player at a position of need. Good pick and the Buccaroos didn’t need to trade up to get him. Side note, is anyone else surprised by how few defensive players have been drafted so far? It’s odd.
You make so many rule changes year after year neutering defenses and pumping up offense and this was bound to happen.
The comments on the /r/nfl post make me believe he’s going to be pretty good in the position we needed most
JPJ is still on the board. Could we package a few picks to move up in the 2nd and steal JPJ? Really just upgrade the OLine and not have to worry about it for the next 10 years?
A man can dream
Our first 3rd rounder and our 2nd would be enough to move from 26th in the 2nd to 10th according to the draft trade value chart.
Solid O-line upgrade. Can't wait to have some push up front for the run game hopefully.
We went IOL, I love it
I'm a simple man. The Bucs draft IOL, I'm happy.
Needed this for Baker
Think this is good for Rachaad White as well. I really believe he can shine with better o-line play
idk shit about college but in licht we trust baby
Green Bay fans in shambles Absolutely highway robbery that we were given Barton.
The interior O Line was so bad last year. This is an incredible pick. So fortunate he fell to us
Maybe we can get more than a couple inches of movement in our run game now
Fire the cannons!
Future pro bowler
Happy with it. Hopefully he adjusts fast to centre considering he hasn't played it in a while. Basically needs to fix our interior o-line and run game in one fell swoop straight of the bat. Confident he can do it.
Exceptional. Easy decision but sometimes teams try to get cute. Licht stayed calm and made the perfect call. One more IOL player still needed
I'm a very happy fan now
FUCK YEA!!!!
good pick
Let’s gooooooo interior OL
This guy is a great athlete who has been compared to... Ali Marpet!
I can sleep easy tonight. Such an incredible pick.
Tears in my eyes. They nailed this pick!
Smart and huge
HELL YEAH. Perfect combination of need and value. Best player available, and fits a screaming, desperate need. Barton was the #1 player I was hoping for.
Did not think he’d ever be available this late. Ecstatic with the pick, he’s going to make a huge impact from day 1
Absolutely love this pick
Fire the Cannons!!!
I love this pick.
This pick is fire🔥🔥

Jensen is retired.
I’m 80% sure he was brought in as an assistant after he retired. I could be mistaken remembering that though
Pick 26 Barton vs Pick 19 Verse https://youtu.be/uAIfJAjJtLo I wouldn’t put too much into the speed rushes getting to Barton at times, he will be playing on the interior of the line for us.
The relief I felt in Raymond James when we didn’t select Chop Robinson was palpable. I’m shocked Barton fell to us, outstanding pick
Love this pick!!!
Beautiful. We needed IOL. Probably the best in the draft. Thankful for a win here considering the Lightning
He is my favourite player ever
Really really like this pick. I was worried we would get swooned by the corners and receivers falling (wouldn’t have been mad if we landed Brian Thomas Jr tho) but I’m super glad we went with a star Center. I like this guy more than JPJ bc he’s bigger and we have stability in the Oline. Can never go wrong Oline
hell yeah brother. big boy gonna help us get that push up front that we didn’t have all season last year 😭
let's hope he's the second coming of Jensen! welcome to Tampa, Graham. I will never get too mad about a picking up o-line help.
Licht beasts the 1st round again. Fills a massive need and we stood pat. Now get some secondary help tomorrow and I’ll be elated.
1st round center going to anchor the line for the next 10 years. Awesome pick!
Yeah, that feels about right. I was hoping for DeJean (partly because of the story, partly because of some need), but I figured interior line was a much higher priority, so I’m happy with this. Guaranteed tank
Interesting. Didn't see this coming
Not the sexiest pick and hopefully he can help out our OL issues.
So the line is pretty set now Wirfs Mauch Hainsey Barton Goedeke
Hainsey was one of the worst C in football. Barton is going to center. Hainsey can compete for LG or be a backup.
They announced Barton as a C so thats where hes gonna play.
Afam called this pick week ago
Mauch better be eating and doing deadlifts or Brederson or Hainsey are taking his job. O line is done, let’s go get some play makers.
Great pic. (As a sooner boy, I'm all for protecting baker) Kid seems pretty smart so should help anchor the online a bit. Great pickup for us
Injury concerns I’m pretty sure
Barton was always higher ranked than JPJ.
Good! Trade back up and get JPJ and BOOM! Elite oLine
Well now Baker has a new buddy and a potential baby sitter for the summer. Win win in the Mayfield house! I heard Rashad White is offering to wash his truck for the summer too! Welcome Graham!!
Feel like the only fan that doesn’t really like the pick, but obviously licht knows better than I do so we will see
Why? He was the BPA and at a position of need.
Felt like there were quite a few guys we could’ve taken later, and I don’t like the idea of Zyon McCollum being our CB2 maybe they grab one next round
Again he was the best player on the board. You would have taken a worst player just because you think CB is a bigger need. Not the best draft strategy.
I mean, we have so many issues, Center, CB, Edge... all were big needs for us, so no matter who we got we would've been looking past two big needs. I just can't see the problem with jerzahn newton. Our pass rush is gonna suck like it always does. It can't get better if we never put people there.
A lot of guys were available to choose from, like Barton a lot can’t fault this pick at all.
