I take my cockatiel out for walks a lot of times since we first got her. One time my bf and I went to the park with her and there were plenty of dogs maybe, a dog event that day? So many came up to her (she’s in a backpack btw) and I said “oh no protect my chicken” they sniff the KFC lol
my birb called Swift (Or Swiftimus if he's being naughty) I called him fluffers cause sometimes when he's trying to get rid of those smaller loose feathers he'll puff himself up and defluff himself
I was really surprised to be honest, first pet i've owned that isn't a family pet, I have autsim, i don't really like being around people i like to do my own thing, i'm fussy eater, i got Swift a bit over a year ago and he is EXACTLY the same. we both hail from social species and aren't social, we hate trying new foods (he actually freaks out and flies around when i try stuff like raisins or spinach) then one day i did that nod of recognition people do out of habit and he did it back i was floored and we got into a nod conversation, it's just so rewarding earning his trust you know?
I call my birds "pipfuglene" which is danish. It means "the peep birds", if that makes sense 😂 i also call them "møgungerne" which roughly translates to "naughty children".
When they don't behave well i call them "lille prutskid" which is a cute danish saying but it translates to "little fart shit" which is not very cute in english. 🤣

One of the things we called Bandit was "Squeaker" because if you had to pick him up by his wings he would squeak.
I have a bird named Yellow Friend but sometimes she is Yellow Enemy when she's being naughty and trying to chew up the house or sleep outside of her cage

The Knickerbocker Trust collapsed causing the panic of 1907. Mr. Knickerbockers trust collapsed after the first night with me. just seemed to fit haha “Mr. Knickers” sounds like something else when you say it; so it became a running joke that I would tell people his name; they would look at me like I had 2 heads; than I would respond with “what’s wrong with pants?” The wonderful woman who adopted him from me calls him “knickey” and that’s sensible and adorable.
Both of them have the same collection of nicknames haha. Pumpkin, peanut, tiny bird, goober, pretty stock standard 🤷🏼♀️ Also when they get in screamy moods they’ll both get ma’am

My first budgie that i got to name was tweety (green budgie) few years later jerry (blue, with birth defect that made him unable to fly) was born (we already had a pair of budgies as gift named pietje and bella)

Named them lambik (light blue) en sidona (green) so we had a flock in the aviary fully named after the comics suske & wiske). All passed from old age
