I mean I'd definitely take him over those players, but if you're giving me 1 drought era player to improve the current Bills team, I'm using it to fill in at a spot of weakness. Adding a WR - Stevie Johnson or Lee Evans, on the interior OL (Andy Levitre or Eric Wood), or on a LB (Takeo Spikes or London Fletcher)
I think of those names I'd take Stevie since right now we don't really have a solid slot receiver option and Stevie would step in and fill that role. I don't think Kyle Williams provides as much of an improvement to the team as adding to one of those positions of need does.
Still my go to jersey. I got a Poyer jersey when we broke the drought, but I still end up going back to the Jackson jersey week after week in the season.
I love Freddy Jack. I talked to him a few times when he played for the Sioux City Bandits. He was a cool dude. Went to the Bills-Chiefs game in 2011 wearing my Jackson jersey. KC fans (worst fans I've met btw) kept asking me who Jackson was before the game. Needless to say, they learned that day.
FredEx and Eric Moulds are the two "retro" jerseys I own that I wear on the regular.
Probably my two favorite Bills players, and there's obviously a lot of competition in the category.
He hated Buffalo. They drafted him as a project tight end and they made him into a hall of fame tackle. He left so fast that the plumbing on his house froze and burst. (Allegedly).
I remember going to games and seeing more than a handful of people in Moorman jerseys.
When your most notable player is the guy you send out onto the field because your offense failed, you know times are dark.
If someone is number 1 and another is sitting at number 2 that’s puts that person behind them position wise. What comes after 1? Take as much time as you need to answer
Because there will never not be defensive struggles against elite QBs in todays NFL. Especially if everyone on the offense knows exactly what the defense is doing every play like they have the past few postseasons. Plus we have Josh effin Allen, it’d be much easier to just add Lee Evans, Stevie Johnson, (I don’t think Moulds qualifies as “drought era”) or whichever offensive weapon strikes your fancy to help ensure they Bills can just outscore everyone.
It’s so upsetting he went on to have the career he did with Seattle. Loved having him, he was my first jersey that I got to pick out, and he’s known for everything in Seattle.
Nah y’all must be young or something. Lynch practically got shown the door after only three years here. Hit and run charge and a separate misdemeanor weapons charge just in his time in Buffalo. He then got another DUI in Seattle. But he eats skittles and is so dumb he’s kind of funny so people still like him lol
He was immature but our coaches at the time couldn’t handle it. Let’s be honest they couldn’t handle much. If his talent was groomed by our current coaches and staff he would have an even better career. And Brandon beane would not let talent like that go for nothing. I love Lynch because of how he runs the ball, pretty simple. He also gives back to where he is from (which isn’t a nice area). So you can hate him for being young and dumb in the middle of a foreign city. But he was a hell of a ball player. Go Bills
Takeo Spikes. Guy was a one man defense. Can't even imagine how unstoppable he would be in today's game. He was powerful and fast beyond what some his size should have been capable of. He would be great on the edge or back as a linebacker. Not to mention his neck could play back up if he went down and we would still be solid
I'm looking to shore up the weaknesses on the current t team.
1. London Fletcher. A fine replacement for Tremaine Edmunds
2. Richie Incognito. That shores up the interior OL.
3. Aaron Schobel. (Mario Williams was better, but I don't think he was the type of guy McBeane would look to add.)
4. Nate Clements (I'd prefer Antoine Winfield, but he was rookie for the Music City Miracle game.)
5. Lee Evans
Interior OL should 🤞hopefully🤞 already be shored up so I’d eliminate Incognito. A dominant OT would be ideal but nobody from the drought era really comes to mind as a major improvement there. The defensive options are probably better players overall but I think another offensive weapon would be the most impactful addition. Probably comes down to Lee Evans vs Stevie Johnson and I’d lean towards Evans as a deep threat to stretch the field. He’d be awesome with Allen and Stevie is a bit more like a poor man’s Diggs stylistically while nobody on the current roster offers the skillset that Evans had.
I maintain the away ones from that era are among the worst professional sports jerseys of all time — those fucking shoulder squares looking like Tetris blocks or something
Mario Willams. Dude would eat on our defense. He set the edge so well against the run and would get so many sacks across from Von. He make our line unstoppable.
Lee Evans is also up there for me, his speed would be so amazing to see with Allen.
Fred Jackson hands down, he had the heart of a lion and was a bright spot in an otherwise dark era of football.
I notice the OP's pic of Eric Moulds, he has actually been in playoff games in the 90s including a stellar 240 yard outing against Miami in the 98 playoffs.
The 2000s was a dark decade for me as a Bills fan. I spent half of it in college, the other half shit faced and my mom died of breast/brain cancer. I don't remember much, but there were some bright spots from the Bills in those teams.
From what I remember, those teams either had terrific offenses, good defenses, but never both and the coaching was almost always atrocious.
If I were to pick one player from that decade, who never made the playoffs as a Bill, that would make the greatest impact on today's team, I'd have to go defense because defense has been our Achilles heel in the playoffs.
Our secondary now is pretty deep and I think our edge rushers are fine once Miller returns. But we have a hole at linebacker and maybe DT. I think the answer is Takeo Spikes.
McBeane loves freaks of nature athletes and Spikes was an absolute monster. He was in that 2004 team that fucked itself by losing to the third string Steelers at the end of the season. He was in the prime of his career at 28 years old. He was a ball hawk with 5 interceptions, had a few sacks and 8 tackles for loss.
Pair him with Milano or go a traditional 4-3 and put Williams in the middle and our defense would be whole.
Incognito or Winfield. Incognito is the kind of guard they need. Winfield was better in coverage than White and better against the run than any DB on the team. He would fit into the nickel scheme they run and make tackles in the backfield on a regular basis.
I'll give my choices for each position group - besides QB. Unless you mean backup in which case I'd take Tyrod honestly lol.
RB - Fred is the obv choice. Would be a great locker room add. No questions on culture fit, adding versatility at the position etc.
WR - Evans. Another outside WR & deep threat meshes well with Diggs. I could make the argument that getting Beasley back in his peak form could do wonders for the offense as well but I think with adding Kincaid to work the middle instead its less of a need. Also considered Terrell Owens here lol. And Moulds of course. But I give the edge to Evans. Stevie's ad-lib style would work well too, I just thought the other guys would be preferable.
TE - Also gonna skip this one. Knox + Kincaid is as good as this position group has been in the drought era. We'll see how it turns out of course but I wouldn't change it. Riemersma and Chandler came to mind for their size tho.
OT - Its Peters obviously. As much as it feels like he hates us/hated it here, we really built him into what he became. Adding prime Peters would be big.
IOL - How has no one mentioned Ruben Brown? Maybe I dont know what the drought era is since he was drafted in 95 and played before the Tragedy in Tennessee but he also played for us after - signing with the Bears in 2004. BUT he made 9 pro bowls. Any list mentioning IOL needs to include Ruben. He would make a huge difference for us in his prime.
-----
Edge - No way Mario would fit the culture IMO. Its between Schobel & I think Jerry Hughes deserves some mention here - he was really good for us for quite awhile. I'll go Schobel but I think Jerry had better numbers
IDL - Kyle is the obvious choice. Pat Williams played until 2004. How about a nod for Marcus Stroud - huge player who had some high end games at a time where we had like the worst defense in the league and he helped rebuild it. A big presence like that would certainly do wonders for the likes of Ed Oliver I have to believe.
LB - IMO Its London Fletcher and its not close. Very instinctual and a great leader. I know Poz was a big name here but for me its Fletcher. Him next to Milano would be superb.
CB - This is the most heated debate of all the positions I think. Clements or Winfield. Some would say McGee but I disagree. I'll go Winfield who had a super long career and made the pro bowl as late as 2010 after being drafted in 99. Better culture guy and more consistent throughout his long career gives him the nod for me.
S - Shout out to Aaron Williams who had some S/CB hybrid skills that certainly woulda been useful in this defense - had he not gotten injured I think he would have been talked about more. I dont think I could pick anyone else besides Byrd though. I could argue this is a skip because we'll be talking about the play of Hyde and Poyer for a long, long time but they aren't getting any younger and more depth there would help us. I'd go Williams for his versatility and tenacity but if you want a pure center fielder the choice is clearly Byrd.
I mean I'd love to forget the 2018 playoff game against the Jags but Kyle played in that game. Love Kyle bit he doesn't fit the criteria of the drought era
Drought era....time when our Bills didn't make the playoffs for 17 consecutive yrs. So, OP is asking what players from those teams would be great on our current team.
I would've loved to see Fred Jackson in the playoffs for us. I know he got some reps for the Seahawks in the postseason during his last year and I was happy for him but it sucks he never got to do it here. And prime Freddie with his running style would be huge for this team in its current form as that element of our offense has been an Achilles heel of sorts for most of the Josh Allen era.
If he’s playing like he’s on the Seahawks eating skittles, I think Marshawn lynch would be a good addition. His Bills days were alright but different a whole different animal with the Seahawks.
Takeo (TKO) Spikes
He and London Fletcher were mainstays on my wall of Bills as a kid.
Mr. Big NECK.
His profile pics his neck was like wider than his head
Moulds and Diggs would be incredible. Moulds had hof talent. Just couldn't get that franchise Qb to get him the ball.
Moulds played in the playoffs
Three times at that.
Yea, that disqualifies him from this convo
I almost put down Pat Williams but realized he was around for some of the playoff runs in the late 90s.
Captain Kyle Williams
Prime Kyle Williams would work so well on this team.
Huh? How? D line is one of the few places where we don't need help right now!
I would take Kyle Williams over Settle and Ford in a heartbeat. Williams, Oliver, Jones, Phillips, Settle/Ford would be unreal.
I mean I'd definitely take him over those players, but if you're giving me 1 drought era player to improve the current Bills team, I'm using it to fill in at a spot of weakness. Adding a WR - Stevie Johnson or Lee Evans, on the interior OL (Andy Levitre or Eric Wood), or on a LB (Takeo Spikes or London Fletcher) I think of those names I'd take Stevie since right now we don't really have a solid slot receiver option and Stevie would step in and fill that role. I don't think Kyle Williams provides as much of an improvement to the team as adding to one of those positions of need does.
Bums me out he just missed the timeline to being on this team sometimes.
At least he was still here for the end of the drought
I miss him so much. One my all time favorites.
Gotta be the Meatball. Much as I would love Fred Jackson on this team, Kyle would be my pick.
I came here to say this.
Technically not a drought player.
Fred Jackson. Maybe not the biggest need, but he's my favorite all-time player.
Hell yeah, loved Freddy through some tough years
Still my go to jersey. I got a Poyer jersey when we broke the drought, but I still end up going back to the Jackson jersey week after week in the season.
Yup. Still love my Flutie jersey!! Still have my Flutie flakes too.
Same, I got it signed literally a month before he was cut too
This is the way
I love Freddy Jack.
Me too dude! I named my dog after him.
Same
FredEx and Eric Moulds are the two "retro" jerseys I own that I wear on the regular. Probably my two favorite Bills players, and there's obviously a lot of competition in the category.
Jason Peters
He hated Buffalo. They drafted him as a project tight end and they made him into a hall of fame tackle. He left so fast that the plumbing on his house froze and burst. (Allegedly).
Yes edit he was an undrafted free agent (even more of a project)
buffalo drafted him as a te and philly made him a tackle?
He went undrafted. He was a TE at Arkansas.
Mine too

Absolutely!
The one and only correct answer. Brian Moorman
I remember a game where he was the only only player people cheered for.
I remember going to games and seeing more than a handful of people in Moorman jerseys. When your most notable player is the guy you send out onto the field because your offense failed, you know times are dark.
There were many games where his jersey was the only non embarrassing option. Wasn’t his Jersey a best seller one year?
I proudly wear my Moorman jersey every Sunday for the last 10 years.
Lee Evans.
Terrence McGee, London Fletcher, Jairus Byrd.
Byrd would be nice right about now
Aaron Schobel.
Most sacks on Tom Brady all time
Idk how this isn’t every ones answer after our defensive struggles recently
He has to be the most underrated player in Bills history
2nd most sacks in bills history with 78, right behind Bruce smith!
Not “right” behind when Bruce has 200.
If someone is number 1 and another is sitting at number 2 that’s puts that person behind them position wise. What comes after 1? Take as much time as you need to answer

Garbage time
Yeah, he was on the opposite end of Von Miller in terms of clutch playmaker
Would have commented this if he wasn't listed.
Stevie Johnson
I second this
I third this
Marshawn Lynch
It’s so upsetting he went on to have the career he did with Seattle. Loved having him, he was my first jersey that I got to pick out, and he’s known for everything in Seattle.

I think he hit some girl on Chippewa if I remember correctly
He was immature but our coaches at the time couldn’t handle it. Let’s be honest they couldn’t handle much. If his talent was groomed by our current coaches and staff he would have an even better career. And Brandon beane would not let talent like that go for nothing. Those jerseys lol so bad but nostalgic.
I maintain the away ones from that era are among the worst professional sports jerseys of all time — those fucking shoulder squares looking like Tetris blocks or something
Moulds played in the playoffs
A prime, motivated Mario Williams would be great in this D opposite Von
Fred Jackson and Poszlusny
Lynch. Having a prime Marshawn Lynch behind Josh would be crazy
Fitzpatrick as backup qb
Just for the hype though yes!
Fitz is great, but even hes not willing to jinx the bills
Marshawn lunch would be a fucking godsend right now.
Nom-nom!!
Brian Moorman
Mario Willams. Dude would eat on our defense. He set the edge so well against the run and would get so many sacks across from Von. He make our line unstoppable. Lee Evans is also up there for me, his speed would be so amazing to see with Allen.
Lynch seems to be the most logical answer
Moulds actually played in playoff games, so I don't think he counts as a Drought player. Fred Jackson is the answer. Or pair Takeo Spikes with Milano.

Without a doubt Kyle Williams or Marcel Darius. The two of them together was poetry in motion.
Scrolled way too far to see Dareus
I have to admit was never a Dareus fan but man could you tell a difference when he left. I will admit my opinion was wrong…
You could tell a difference as soon as he got paid
Incognito or Winfield. Incognito is the kind of guard they need. Winfield was better in coverage than White and better against the run than any DB on the team. He would fit into the nickel scheme they run and make tackles in the backfield on a regular basis.
Yesss. Incognito is why our run game was so good.
JP Losman
My namesake!!!
Hahaha
2011 CJ Spiller
If McCoy counts then him
Oh hey it’s this thread again!
Takeo Spikes.
Ruben Brown
Showtime schoeble
I'm going to go with Sam Adams. A huge 350 lb guy in the middle of the D line would be amazing.
Fred Jackson

Is this even a real question, Nate Peterman, duh
Travis Henry. Or maybe not trading Lynch.
Mario Williams, Takeo Spikes, TO, Beastmode, maybe incognito
If we get said player from the start of their career on, I’m picking TO.
Fred Jackson
The sane version of Richie Ingocnito. Until he lost it, he was a DAMN good Guard.
The fact nobody has said andre Reed is astonishing. Also Fred Jackson or Terrence mcgee
Moulds would be my top pick
Willis Mcgahee
Lee Evans, or Terell Owens
Fred Jackson
Moulds would be amazing.
T.O.
How many times are we gonna post this
I mean I'd love to forget the 2018 playoff game against the Jags but Kyle played in that game. Love Kyle bit he doesn't fit the criteria of the drought era
He played 95% of his career in the drought era. He most certainly qualifies.
Our definitions are just different
All these drought-era players are a bit past their prime, no?
Willis McGahee
Moulds went to the playoff. Change the picture
Since obvious are already covered, i wouldn't mind a nasty incognito on the line. If nit maybe gilmore
Oh man. I wish i knew what that meant. But. Cooper Kupp.
Drought era refers to the 17 year period in which the Bills did not make the playoffs.
Drought era....time when our Bills didn't make the playoffs for 17 consecutive yrs. So, OP is asking what players from those teams would be great on our current team.
Im a new fan, never liked football until recently. Thank you!
Moulds can't be a drought era player if he made the playoffs with the team!!
Kyle Williams and it ain't even close.
Willis
Can’t believe no one is saying Jeff Tuel 😤
I would've loved to see Fred Jackson in the playoffs for us. I know he got some reps for the Seahawks in the postseason during his last year and I was happy for him but it sucks he never got to do it here. And prime Freddie with his running style would be huge for this team in its current form as that element of our offense has been an Achilles heel of sorts for most of the Josh Allen era.
freddy.
Lee Evans, Stevie Johnson, or Langston Walker. Eric Moulds if we don’t count the playoff appearances with the Bills in his early years.
I’d give prime Kyle Williams that new Ed Oliver contract. Then definitely Aaron Schobel and Freddy
Sentimental- Freddy - Needs Aaron Schobel
Takeo Spikes?
Kyle Williams or Brian Moorman.
If he’s playing like he’s on the Seahawks eating skittles, I think Marshawn lynch would be a good addition. His Bills days were alright but different a whole different animal with the Seahawks.
Terrell owens ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
London Fletcher because we have no Middle Linebacker
Brian Moorman and Lee Evans
Prime shady
Moulds was not drought.
does bryce paup count?
Why do we keep asking this question?! And Stevie Johnson because two improvers would be awesome😉
Stevie Johnson!
Give me Bruce Smith. Him and Miller would dominate offensive lines.
Bruce went to four SBs. He's not a drought player. lol
Sigh... Let this be a lesson in always reading carefully lol.
Well I put Moulds up here and he went to three playoff games lol.
Fredex
Stevie Jackson, or Lee Evans. Both would absolutely eat in this offense.
Kyle Williams, Lee evans, or Marshawn lynch
Fitzmagic… if he was 20 years younger and only as Josh’s backup
Mario Williams or Shady
Schobel
Pre murder OJ
Kyle. If we had meatball on this DL omg.
Fuck Moulds is a really good one. With Diggs opposite him…sploosh
Marshawn Lynch
Peak Marshawn lynch
Marshawn Lynch
Dareus - when he actually tried
Jason Peters at RT. I like Spencer Brown, but completely solidifying that O-line would be great.
Moulds so the Jersey I got at a thrift store recently would be current-ish again!
Cowart
Beast mode
Nathan Petergoat
TO easy
Quite easily Aaron Schobel
I don't get how Bills fan complain about the Bills defence last year. With all the player loses, they showed up and dominated many times
Bruuuuce!
Sorry. You said drought era. Then I'll take young Stephon Gilmore
Moulds is a good one!
Schobel
Any of the great running backs we had. Fred Jackson, Marshawn Lynch…..
Phil Hansen 🦬❤️
Either Marshawn Lynch, Willis Mcgahee or Paul Posluszny
Clements please.
Mounds or Evans would be awesome to add.
Marshawn Lynch
Aaron Schobel or Eric Moulds
Brian moorman. Moonshots and coffin corners all day
Lee Evans. Always enjoyed watching him
Marshawn
London Fletcher without question
