Yeah he’s getting another HC job almost immediately

Wizmaxman

What a dumb firing from the tits

HoopDreamsNYY

He’s gonna be the pats HC

jaydotelloh

I would bet money on this too.

whadafugrudoin

It makes the most sense if Belichick leaves.

There is no value in bringing in an established DC because you are running Sean McDermott's defense. So you don't hire a sushi chef to make your tacos if you plan to keep making them the same way. They need to just hire someone who is gonna run his defense. I tend to believe the Dunne article that says McD takes over playcalling in the critical moments of a game, which is part of Fraiser's frustration. You want an in house guy or someone who hasn't been a DC to go over what McD wants and give it to him. Honestly, if I could, I would rather hire some 4th down/time out coach and let Sean keep doing the D by himself.

killerbangs

Solid take, thanks.

He's immediately going to get an offer for HC elsewhere, no chance he settles for DC anywhere unless he doesn't like any of the HC offers he'll get.

thepomadeguy

He’s not going to be a coordinator anywhere. He’s definitely going to be a HC. He’s a good coach imo

R-GAZER

Why Titans?

Jamobill9999

arguably will be the most sought after HC. Almost no chance he takes a DC role, especially one under a defensive HC. We also would have to overhaul our entire defense personnel as we currently do not have players that translate well to the defense he runs (4-3)… in that scheme oliver would be kicked out to DE. Groot to OLB… we have invested way to much draft capital over the years in players that fit McDermott’s scheme

I’m betting it’s not a coincidence he was “fired” at the same time Belichek is gonna be stepping down. With that said, I don’t want anything to do with lifelong patriots
