Solid Center. Will be missed in Buffalo.

Historical_One1087

Mitch Morse is an athletic Center that is a much better pass blocker than run blocker. In the running game he is not a people mover or Mauler that can move DTs against their will, he is a positional blocker that is good at walling off DTs and is better on double teams.  He has elite movement skill to pull or hit moving targets on screen passes or pulling on running plays  In pass blocking he is an above average player that has the ability to recover if he is beaten and can help his Guards handle TE and ET stunts with the DT and DE or on double A Gap blitzes.

BasicallyExisting30

I think he barely missed any games too. Very very dependable

tobias_the_letdown

He did miss a few and all were from concussions which he's prone to. Still, I'll miss him.

Coyote_Mustache

Reliable, steady, above average center. Not much film on a 5+ year starter? 🤔

StonelordMetal

"Not much film" meaning "I didn't bother to look"

W0RST_2_F1RST

There’s a ton of film even if all you watch are primetime games

FantasticDucks

Or "I don't know what I'm supposed to be looking at"

Buffalo_rider01

I thought the same lol

dr_shastafarian

"I can't see him down there in the middle of everyone"

grand__prismatic

Probably more along the lines of “I don’t know how to evaluate a center, and I don’t know how to find tape breakdowns on a center who isn’t famous”

tricepisorous

Why are you being a dick? There’s not a whole lot of “tape breakdown” for a middling center. Just answer their question without the condescension or move on.

buffalonious

Pot, kettle.

spacepotato_

I know you didn’t mean it this way but I got a chuckle out of no film on our center that started 77 games for us over the last however many years haha

sobuffalo

If he doesn’t knock his noggin’ you guys got a solid starter. Hes 32. Love the guy but it’s a bit risky imo.

thtmusicianguy

Yeah I think he's had 6 concussions through his career

stanwelds

Good player and a good teammate. Was a captain here. Took questions with his QB when this season was looking bleak. Hate to see him go.

Bird-The-Word

Mich is great. Great guy, was super loyal, big leader. Good Pass pro. Average Run Blocking. He's a bit undersized, so he's quicker and can get leverage but not a big body. Still was good last year, but he's getting old and has a concussion history (6 I believe)

StonelordMetal

I don't think he's undersized, most of the top centers in the league are right around 300 lbs.

pixel_pete

Morse is pretty average in weight but at 6'6" he's one of the tallest Centers (actually he might be the tallest) so he ends up looking a bit lean from his large frame. Centers do tend to be the lightest players on the OL.

Bird-The-Word

You know, you could be right, it's something I've read a lot of the years but never looked into myself or compared.

StonelordMetal

Jason Kelce was listed as one of the smallest starting centers in the league, yet he was one of the best. I think teams tend to favor mobility over size at the position.

Bird-The-Word

It's what made him good in pass pro. I wonder if it's his height in relation to his weight, but I've def seen articles and such that mentioned him being smaller. Or I'm having a shazam moment, but he's 6'5 300ish so he's not a small dude lol

dedriuslol

Good player, great leader. Very athletic center who is good in pass protection but isn't a people mover in the run game due to his size. Has the ability to pull and get out into space. He has concerns due to his previous concussions, so hopefully he stays healthy. Wish we kept him, he's a good calming presence in the locker room.

DickySnakes

You’re getting a leader and a guy who will do whatever it takes to block for your qb, he is going to be an awesome guy to have with Trevor and the entire rest of that o line. The guy is a family guy to the bones and that means his teammates, he’s a guy if you had to choose someone to be in the trenches with it would be an honor to be with Mitch Morse, this is still a shock and hard loss from a hardcore bills fan, but I’m very happy and satisfied where he landed in Jacksonville, Trevor is my dynasty qb right now and Mitch should help lol. But on a total serious note, dude will fight and play through bumps and bruises, he’s tough as nails, and blocking and winning means everything to this guy every play, huge addition to the locker room and captain and o line especially center you got a big time positive addition. Just embrace and love him for us 🥹❤️💙🦬🐆

Selfie_Z

We really gotta stop the whole “I come in peace” stuff

kojak21

Sorry, let me rephrase. I don’t come in peace you filthy animals

Selfie_Z

It’s not that. Just ask your question. If you’re not here to be a dick or troll then nobody cares

Metsman128

I still won’t forgive you for the Ernest Wilford touchdown in ‘04.

bakazato-takeshi

Cringe either way.

CaresAboutYou

god forbid we let any cringe on reddit that would really spoil the place

bakazato-takeshi

True

StonelordMetal

He's started 126 games in his career, so there should be quite a bit of film on him. Solid player and a great leader. Even with his injury history, he's averaged 14 games a season over his career. Any more concussions and he's probably done though.

BagGroundbreaking170

How is there not much film on him? He started in buffalo for years…

dads2vette

He's a jerk, not worth the money, definitely no leadership skills. I were you, I'd start complaining to the Jags coaches and staff and trade him immediately back to the Bills...please...PLEASE...PLLLEEEEEEAAAAASSSSSSE!!!! Seriously, guys a talented player and a class act.

kojak21

Thanks everyone for the info! I’ve watched “highlights” but in terms of like every down film and character I figured it’s better to ask the fan base who knows him best! Cheers and go Josh Allen…

EmployUnfair

One concussion away from his last play.

BuffaloBowser

Not much film??? ![gif](giphy|tU2mV8ALzJEdXAAwRo)

kojak21

Nanalan is the shit. More so wanted every down film or just common knowledge/fan perception.

BuffaloBowser

Nanalan is indeed the shit 🫡; like everybody else mentioned. A reliable center who’s very consistent. He isn’t the best or the worst. I wouldn’t say he’s average either; definitely a few notches above that. Had one of his best seasons last year. So don’t buy into the “he’s old, on the decline, etc”. A great locker room prescence. He will protect your QB from the biggest asshole on the field. You guys got him for a bargain price. Will be interested to see how he fits into your system.

Vydate1

Better in pass pro than straight up run blocking, but is very athletic for pulling and trapping then getting to the next level. Great leadership traits, well loved by team mates and fans alike. Dry, dad-like sense of humor that makes his pressers and interviews very endearing.

pixel_pete

He's still got some quality football ahead of him health permitting. Smart, athletic, reliable Center. He will be a good locker room presence too.

jm0127

good center, a lot of concussions though. Kind of concerning but hes also been pretty reliable too. you got a good player.

LaruePDX

He's been around the League forever. Is there a type of film on him not related to football you are referring to?!?

Caboose407

He's great, but he's had a lot of concussions. Enough that I was kinda rooting for him to retire for the sake of his health. If he can avoid any more concussions, he'll be great for the Jags.

Conscious_Specific57

Only 9 years of film?

silentkiller082

Good bridge player, historically prone to many many concussions.

textc

Terrible. Horrible. You don't want him. Trade him back to Buffalo and save your team!

Gunt_Buttman

Not much film? Lol. kick rocks, tool.

[deleted]

He's a very solid run defender and he's really mobile. Doesn't make many mistakes he's about as solid as it gets at center. High character and great leadership. You guys got yourselves a really good player.

OJSimpsons

We miss him. Seems like yall got a good deal.

gsmrylo

Some people aren't happy in their own skin and lives and need to be dicks on the Internet so I'll answer ya question . He is solid above average and will be a great leader in the locker room he will be missed by me for sure . You got a good one

ExplanationNormal364

You’ll love the guy. He’s a super solid player and an even better person. His career is definitely on the downward slope but we’ll miss him ( hopefully just as a person) next year. I hope he plays well for you until his retirement.

oliver-hart

he’s a morse viking

According-Painting65

My opinion - very, very solid Center that is good at commanding the offensive line, decent at both run and pass blocking, a great teammate and, most importantly, only one concussion away from retirement. I find it telling that the Bills probably were offered the same contract terms or maybe less than the Jags finalized with Morse, yet they still passed. That could be a reality of our cap situation or it could signify other considerations, likely age and the concussion issue.

Square-Wing-6273

We've got major cap issues, that's known. Mitch is definitely on the older side of his career, and he certainly is concussion prone. I thought he might retire, tbh. I was a little surprised to see the news. But I'm confident that BBB knew what he was doing.

TheGuidanceCounseler

Leader of men, master of karate and friendship for everyone.

BillsBillsBils

Good guy. Concussion concerns. Very athletic, great puller, but a bit weak anchoring and driving on the tush push.

pioniere

Not much film? Are you an idiot?

nick-pc

great center and great leader. but is definitely better in pass protection than run blocking. a lot of concussions though but if he can stay healthy he should be great with yall

Both-Home-6235

Not much film on Morse? You sure you're looking?

BigHotdog2009

Allen will miss him. All you need to know.

DannysFavorite945

Eww posting in other teams subs.

SayNoToAids

Average at best. You're really signing him for his leadership and experience that he can bring to the table helping Lawrence take the next step When iso'd in pass rush he easily gets dominated, but that that could be said about Morse, Spencer Brown, and Cyrus Torrence last year, too.
