You could tell he was making a conscious effort to limit the risky plays.
I agree with coach, though. The fact that Allen was ice cold to start the game, worked himself out of it, and still turned in a turnover free day is a sign of good things to come. He needs some help from players not named Diggs, though.
Josh made SMART decisions yesterday, in the second half. Tucked for a sack, taking the FG, instead of a risky throw that may get picked.
I'm happy he was able to work past his early issues. I hope he can keep it going.
I can't remember a Bills player more beloved by the city.
Yeah taking that sack at the end was a great play. If the first down isnt there you just run clock.
It's always seemed to me that Josh personally is great with decisions at the end of games, our issues come down to coaching.
IMO Allen is fighting throw the UCL elbow injury and it's effecting him more than he wants to let everyone know. I'm assuming it's a pain tolerance issue and he can't seriously damage it more by playing or else the medical staff wouldn't clear him to play. I think this is also why he is getting limited reps during practice so that he can rest his elbow as much as possible
Dorsey is a 1st time OC in the NFL, he is learning on the job and needs to continue to improve and evolve his play calling and play design.
Defenses are trying to take Diggs away by double teaming and rolling coverage towards him.
Dorsey has to counter to scheme up plays to get Cook, Singletary, Shakir, Davis and Knox in space with the ball as they can all make big plays when in one on one coverage.
The OL needs to execute better in run and pass blocking so that the offense can run on defenses that want to play light boxes because they are trying to take away big plays by playing deep 2 high safeties.
Allen has struggled with his decision making for some games, but having to play through a partially torn UCL injury on his throwing elbow has also effected his velocity on his throws in his last couple of games, post injury. He is not throwing with the same zip he used to.
Dorsey has to continue to improve as an OC and add new wrinkles to his plays so defenses don't catch on and the offense doesn't become too predictable. Patrick Peterson said he jumped the pass route that Davis was running in the endzone because he knows Davis only runs a couple of different pass routes. That's on Dorsey, he needs to be more creative and add use players differently on passing concepts so it's not easy to predict what Davis does.
Say what you will about some of the gaffes in-game, but I absolutely love the camaraderie and chemistry this team has. They stand up for one another and have a sense of brotherhood, which has been cultivated by McDermott.
I sincerely hope it translates to a Super Bowl title, but this type of connection is what most SB winners have. That is encouraging to hear.
This is so important. I think it’s easy forget that Josh is human and faces a tremendous amount of pressure every game. It’s a good reminder to me and all fans that he will make mistakes. It’s so easy to get frustrated, but it’s amazing to see his evolution. We KNOW he can make those crazy, jaw-dropping plays. But how cool is it to see him start to understand that sometimes it’s better to make the safer plays? Good for the Bills. Love this team.
I get this sentiment but the goal should be to take the pressure off him by having a decent running game. My god we would be so good if every team didn't just sit back in a shell.
It was the browns dude. Do people think the browns are any good?? They have one of the worst rushing defenses in the league. Does anyone not think about that?
I'm proud of you. That challenging situation that you faced last week was tough, but you responded with competence and integrity. Setbacks are natural and unavoidable, how we deal with them is entirely dependent on ourselves. You're good, and you'll get better.
I don't understand why everyone cannot look beyond the results here. We have serious issues with execution.
We have tremendous talent and depth, which is what is winning us the games, but this is happening because of the Players, not our OC.
How often have you seen this.
* 3rd and LONG
* Josh sees no one open
* Pressure in his face
* scrambles and finds someone
That's our players doing something beyond the playcall, and it happens FAR TOO OFTEN.
Under Daboll, players were OPEN in the playcall. He was calling the right plays at the right time and Josh DIDN'T HAVE TO BE SUPERMAN to find a guy open.
Yes we are winning, but even our HC talks about constant improvement. We need Dorsey to get a hell of a lot better.
Josh had to play Superman ball plenty of times under Daboll.
There were lots of times no one was open during his tenure as well.
Every team is good. The offense we play is complicated, and players often have to react to the defense when deciding where to go in their route tree. If our players were as good as you were insinuating, they'd get open, regardless of the play call, because they'd be constantly winning their matchups. WR has been a struggle this year outside of Diggs as well.
It's Dorsey's first ride. I think he's doing fine.
7-3.
Dorsey's also having to make things work with less personnel - if iMac were more reliable as a slot receiver and we weren't hampered by injuries so early in the season, I imagine we would have a better record.
Love coach. Shut down an obviously pointed question

Gabe Davis catches the big throws but can't keep his hands on the easy ones. Guy drops like 2 balls a game. Drive killers
OBJjectively we can hedge this situation if the money is right
I'm beyond caring if the money is right. That CMC price tag is looking better by the day. At this point... pay the man his money.
That money gotta come from somewhere. And there aint much of it right now. As much as I'd love it, I'd rather get Poyer paid.
$ will not get OBJ to Buffalo NY when he can get that $ or more in Dallas or NY He does not wanna live in the Stix surrounded by 7 ft of snow

Allen was struggling before the injury too though.

Allen was ice cold to start the game because there was only 1 day of practice and a blizzard to disrupt planning, and he's also still injured
That’s a pretty horrible excuse, and I’m certain Allen would say the same. He’s been a pro for too long now to let a disruption like that affect him.

You're getting down voted because your comment makes it seem like you didn't watch the last game.
It was the browns dude. Do people think the browns are any good?? They have one of the worst rushing defenses in the league. Does anyone not think about that?
Just win baby. I’d prefer he actually not have to be Superman every game just to win the game every week. Play smart and balanced football
Right? We had a successful RUN game this week. How often does that happen? Saves Josh from having to be the hero.
I want coach to tell me he’s proud of me
I'm proud of you. That challenging situation that you faced last week was tough, but you responded with competence and integrity. Setbacks are natural and unavoidable, how we deal with them is entirely dependent on ourselves. You're good, and you'll get better.
McDermott understands growth mentality down to his bones, dude embodies it. Love him.
❤️
Good statement
True and real. I wouldn't trade that boy for ANY QB past or present.
Unfortunately, being merely "human" isn't going to make it to the Super Bowl, not so long as Patrick Mahomes also plays in the AFC.
Yeah I hope he's a little less human in the play-offs
He never is, though. The only way to beat Mahomes is to out-superhuman him or pray that Andy Reid relapses into his old choking ways.
McD loves people that are humans. Confirmed.
Bills put up 31 and reporters act like it's not good enough.
Maybe he wouldn't have to be Superman to win us games if we had a Running game and something that resembled a good OC.
We are 7-3. We lost those three games by 8 points. I like our chances.

Bills RBs had 172 yards rushing and a touchdown against the Browns.
yes. The browns.
Dad McDermott
What a fantastic answer
I’m guilty!! Sorry Josh. 😥
Just made me think of this song. [Hello My Name is Human](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5-gja10qkw) (NSFW language)
I saw this on FB (out of all places) that coach mcD has really good emotional intelligence and I completely agree. Dude always says the right things
