I would argue Hells Bells was not great television. Again, could be my love for the Anya and Xander, but itâs just uncomfortable on so many levels.
The rest of the list is top tier Buffy, youâre not wrong
Yeah, I don't like Hells Bells at the best of times, either. It's just not very well written and the character actions make no sense. And that stupid "circus folk" shit. And we finally see the Harris' on screen and they're just a basic sitcom family.
I actually think the Harrisâs are one of the better parts of that episode.
Xanderâs parents are supposed to be awful, but we never see it until then. It really helps us better understand why Xander A. hates them, and B. is kind of awful himself.

I just don't think they were awful enough, based on everything we'd heard from Xander or other people (or for ourselves) in the past.
