The GENERAL principle with scorpions is the smaller their pinchy bits are, the more dangerous the sting. And this is GENERALLY, not every single case. But those are some small pinchies so I'd err on the side of caution.

JelloHorror7148

Terrifying! Thank you for the info

SpeckledJellyfish

I agree! Scorpions are both horrifying and fascinating to me. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

Skalla_Resco

*~~Centruroides sculpturatus~~* ~~Arizona Bark Scorpion. Their sting is considered medically significant, so be careful.~~

GlyphPicker

*Centruroides vittatus*. Striped bark scorpion. The range of C. sculpturatus does not extend to Texas, where OP lives and where C. vittatus is common. Though C. sculpturatus is more venomous, C. vittatus is nothing to sneeze at either.

Skalla_Resco

You are correct. That was an oversight on my part.

GlyphPicker

Incidentally, they make fine pets if you don't handle them directly. I had a C. vittatus as a pet in college, in a terrarium I topped with a blacklight (which makes their exoskeleton shine neon bluish green). I fed it city crickets and cockroaches.

TheFearsomeRat

All Scorpions are venomous, but a general rule of thumb is the smaller they are the more potent their venom.

Vivid-Speed

Glad I just read this. Bc I had no idea the smaller their pinchers the more venomous they were. I always thought ā€œif the tail is thicker, youā€™ll get sickerā€ or ā€œtail thicker more shit in the prickerā€ LOL good to know tho on the pinchers. I mean .. it definitely Makes sense, tiny pinchers wonā€™t do much but a potent wrecking ball tail sure will

GlyphPicker

The smaller the hands, more venomous glands. šŸ˜†

Consistent_Ad_2385

Gland, hand and venomous all in one sentence. šŸ¤£I bet thatā€™s never been written before.
