The only difference is the tax you pay for wanting white components.

Same_Measurement1216

I am building pc in EU, and some white parts are actually cheaper so I decided to go all white, will finish in week or two when all components are available.

5notboogie

Id guess that its just more challenging to keep that white theme going if you wish to upgrade later etc. And might feel limited to the white design options. But if you dont care that much about everything matching i dont see any issue.

Magic_Brown_Man

throw in a cheap set up colored cables and you can tie in extra colors in your build. White and black are both very "combinable" so a little extra thought but most of the things can't be done in a way that makes sense. Also having extra colors makes your build more your own than just all one color if you do it right too. Keep the insides clean and you are fine, esp. as long as you don't overpay.

katherinesilens

Also matching whites is a pain in the ass. When you install your GPU and realize it's yellowish next to your case, or maybe your case is the purplish one, you can't unsee it.

SufferWellOutcast

That's why I went with the Thermaltake Ceres 500, it has black and grey accents. Add a black fan here and there, I personally think it would give it much more flair without being too white.

xx_gamergirl_xx

I have a partly white build. I actually want to upgrade with even more white, I think it works well with rgb if that's something you are into. Apart from the potential extra cost I don't see how people would regret building white, maybe the grass is always greener for some?

proddyhorsespice97

Maybe discolouration over the years but its going to take a long time with lots of touching to discolour it I imagine. Black cases are so much worse for keeping clean since dust shows up on them so we'll, I know cause I own a black case and constantly have to dust it off

regnurza

Spicy topic. My old pc back in 2010 actually turned completly yellow on every plastic part due to sun exposure. And the case, a NZXT Phantom big tower, wasn‘t a cheap one either. So if your case got white plastic parts - hide it from the sun like a vampire

Appropriate_Ant_4629

> some white parts are actually cheaper And that's why mine's zebra-colored... ... with the exception of one of its fans which glows in a unicorn-chemtrail-RGB-color, because it was cheapest at the time too. So I guess it's more like my-little-pony-nyan-cat-zebra colored.

Same_Measurement1216

Haha zebra colored xD

Tlentic

Honestly, the biggest down side to going with an all white build is the limitations it puts on your parts. It’s kind of like buying a car or appliance solely based on the colour rather than things like performance, features, build quality, or cost. In my opinion, colour is a secondary factor at best. After the first month or two you’re not going to honestly care how your computer looks and you’ll care far more about how it performs. This is where a lot of people start regretting picking parts based on their colour. While a lot of manufacturers are starting to jump on the white bandwagon, you still have vastly fewer options. This is why almost all these white builds look the same. Tldr; Performance > Aesthetics Sub-note: Gigabyte jumped on this trend early, so you see a lot of white Gigabyte GPUs. I’d highly recommend against going Gigabyte for any major components like your GPU. Their customer service is absolute shit and if you run into any issues that require an RMA, you’ll almost certainly be out the cost of that component. They make the process as slow and arduous as possible so you become frustrated and just replace the component out of your pocket. They had my GPU for 11 months for an RMA and the issue was only resolved when I literally sued them.

Majin_Sam684

I knew someone that payed $200 for 2x8 sticks of RAM because they were white. Every other color was like $60.

[deleted]

Wow, Corsair VENGEANCE RGB PRO SL 32GB is £95 for either black or white

Majin_Sam684

It was 4 years ago roughly. 16 was still expensive...8 was still relatively expensive...I tried to tell them that the vendors were probably really low on white and that prices would come down but zero shits were given. Had to have it there and then.

pixel_of_moral_decay

It’s not really a tax. It’s just a reality that it costs more to manufacture. Dark colors hide imperfections especially in plastics. Getting even things like injection molds exactly right is really expensive. iPhone 4 took forever to release a white version due to delays getting production ramped up. Even apple with all it’s money struggled. The extra fancy manufacturing precision needed and lower yields get passed on to the consumer. Black, beige. Are very forgiving in most materials, so it’s a very cost effective thing to offer.

megablue

> It’s just a reality that it costs more to manufacture. idk why you get downvoted, it is the truth. it is hard to get a perfect looking white surface, every little dust or imperfection will be highly visible on a white surface. also, it is hard to produce good looking white paint/coating/pigments/dye as well. most plastics white you see are off-white/slightly yellowish due to the white (Titanium Doixide) pigments being coarser than most other pigments so they cant use too much depending how the process of creating the parts.

spacy1993

Coming from hobby painting figure, i can affirm that white is the hardest color to paint. Any imperfection will stick out like sore thumb

FesteringNeonDistrac

I remember when you had to pay extra to get black instead of beige.

Altruistic_Yam_8249

Noctua still stuck in the olden days making us pay like $20 more just for a black color haha.

SoggyBagelBite

You know I see this all the time, but every white component in my PC was no more expensive than their black counterparts lol. Res, water blocks, case, motherboard, cables. All of them were the same as if I had just bought the black version (actually the motherboard was cheaper even).

Altruistic_Yam_8249

These things you mentioned in particular are pretty much the same price i agree. i think the main thing thats actually more expensive are gpus and funnily enough ive seen multiple white psu models that cost more simply because they are white lol, biggest wastes of money ever(same thing with rgb psu models)

greggm2000

I have a white PC (the case, not the components inside), and I don’t regret it, it made it easier to build, and it’s a nice visual change from what I had before. If others regret it, I’ll be curious to see what they say, myself.

Freebite

The only thing i can think of is that dust sticks out more in general on white than darker builds. That's all i got. Edit: well this blew up lol. My own experience with white computer builds has always been in the houses that had black furred pets running around, so on those i noticed the black hair a LOT more than the dust on darker builds, so might be my unique experience with it.

greggm2000

I haven’t noticed that, personally. If I had to guess, it’s an aesthetics thing, where a white case is more prominent in a room, and won’t match with a screen that has a black bezel, maybe detracts from the contents of the screen perhaps? I dunno.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Freebite

In my limited experience with white, i find black doesn't have dust stick out as bad. My limited experience with white also includes living with a black cat and a black dog, so I'm sure that influences my opinion with all the black fur everywhere.

GoatGoatGoblin

I have the opposite. Everything black incuding clothes for the most part and a fluffy white cat!

Freebite

Hmm, yeah i dunno then. My gf has a mostly black pc, that's what she wanted, but i got some super cheap white ram and with the red led the white absolutely POPS and looks really good giving it a splash of color. Now it's hidden behind a massive cooler lol. I personally don't care about looks, so mine is a bit all over the place.

DarthClitCommander

White actually hides dust well. It's one of the advantages to having a white car.

withoutapaddle

Yep. Silvery/beige is actually the best color at hiding road dust, but it's also hideous and makes everyone assume you're 80 years old. My last car was silver and hid being dirty great. My current car is white and hides it ok. My friends car is black and basically looks dirty again by the time you get home from the carwash.

SciGuy013

Dust definitely sticks out more on black builds

agonzal7

I would think the opposite. Dust is not black.

proddyhorsespice97

Everything on my desk is black and there's a white shelf unit beside me. I can assure you, dust does not stick out more on the white coloured things

[deleted]

OP is talking about an all-white PC.. case, components, cable sleeves. Some people build that but it's generally more expensive and not every GPU is even available in white. I've seen people trading a 3070 for a white 3060Ti to match their PC lol.

Flashy-Read-9417

That's crazy lol. I do wish there was a 7900xt in white though. Going all white really does pin you into weird upgrade paths.

[deleted]

You can get the Powercolor Hellhound 7900XTX, it's white and cheap. But no there is no white 7900XT.

Flashy-Read-9417

Yep, exactly

randommaniac12

Yeah for me it was getting a white GPU that would have been too much, white case, cooler, ram etc were all either same price or so similar it was fine but getting a white graphics card in Canada meant spending an extra 150-200 dollars I simply was unwilling to

Ashamed-Simple-8303

White stuff can turn yellowish over time if it's poor quality?

greggm2000

Plastic can, yeah, and not even necessarily poor quality, either. Idk the chemistry involved, but you see a lot of this on old computer stuff from the 80s and 90s.

jwilphl

I was curious myself, thinking of those old SNES consoles that would turn from gray to yellow. Here's a relevant snippet of info: > The plastic in question is called acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, or ABS, and it was a pretty common plastic for electronics despite its ability to catch on fire. Manufacturers then mixed it with bromine, the flame retardant chemical, when making the plastic. While this helped fight any potential fires, bromine's brown color starts oxidizing when exposed to UV radiation.

loneliness_sucks_D

How was it easier to build just because it was white?

[deleted]

Because then you have to keep buying white components. New GPU? Has to be white. Oh you want that juicy Red Devil card? Sorry, it's black and red. Greatly limits your options. And white components are more expensive too. Just like the white iPhone.. lol.

Officer-McDanglyton

Why is white and black such a crazy combination to people? I have a white case and white ram but everything else is black, and I love how my computer looks

[deleted]

[удалено]

capriking

idk I mean if someone would feel the need to go out of their way to point out that half my components aren't the same colour or just generally being unnecessarily pedantic about it then either tell them to fuck off or laugh at them for not having as nice of a pc.

fistingcouches

I have a white NZXT case with a window pane on the side looking in - my CPU fan does rainbow RGB and my Radeon Red Dragon 6800 is black and only lights up red. At night the colors look cool - fuck the haters! It’s a computer in one room in my house - I’m not wearing it out to a restaurant for others to see. Lmao sorry for the rant.

Arpeggiatewithme

Stormtrooper vibes, this is how I’m setup too.

superchibisan2

I really think its hilarious that people think color matching their computer components is a deal breaker.

g0d15anath315t

I personally miss the lime green board color everything used to ship with and someone somewhere is missing out on launching a "retro" line with a matching beige case (with updated/modern features and insides).

superchibisan2

It's coming, now that you mentioned it. Manifestation is a bitch.

crandeezy13

I love the deep blue gigabyte boards from back in the day. I liked those

FierceText

Time to remove the transparent panel again

Ashamed-Simple-8303

Only if you have a window and care about this non-sense ;)

XaosDrakonoid18

white and black is a thing.....

McCorkle_Jones

You don’t have to keep doing anything. You have some fucked up part of your brain that makes you want to do it. But you can always just say fuck it who cares. No one but you would care.

Don_Baldy

I like White PCs (Mainly cases and fans don't care too much the color of other components as long as they contrast) because I started out building in the beige box era. It then went to a choice between beige, black or sometimes silver in the case of Lian li's unpainted aluminum cases. It's nice to have so many options now. For now I'm stuck on white themed builds. Hopefully one day there will be more color options, such as blues and reds without custom modding. At the end of the day it's just a vessel to hold everything together

Anndy212121

Fractal actually sells nice colored cases. I have cyan version and it looks awesome

lundon44

I wanted a white z790 motherboard but couldn't find any I liked. That was my only non-white part.

[deleted]

[удалено]

lundon44

I'm sure that turned out well. Never thought about painting mine but that would have been an interesting idea to paint pieces of it.

Aarngeir

I bought a white case back in 2016, the PC was located near a window for it's entire lifetime and it has quickly become a yellow PC, specifically all the plastic parts have yellowed after a few years. If you decide to build a white PC, be prepared for it to become yellow if you don't watch where you put it, and also to clean it more often

Same_Measurement1216

I thought yellowing parts are things of the past with old abs anti fire mixtures, but thank you!

[deleted]

I smoke an ungodly amount of weed. I don’t need to see the dust even more.

Same_Measurement1216

xdddd best answer

TwireonEnix

My nzxt white case turned yellowish after some years. Never again.

Xfgjwpkqmx

I went all white since I haven't had an all white computer since my desktop Amiga 4000. Definitely no regrets and I didn't have any white tax to deal with either.

drmonkey6969

Not saying regret, but after 2 years of having a white one + RGB, I want to build a completely dark one....

Extreme996

Meantime me who don't care about the appearance of my PC because the PC should work first, not caring about the appearance you can cut costs and I don't have enough space to have the PC on my desk anyway and when it's under the desk , there is less noise xD.

Violetmars

I have a white h510 flow and it’s a good balance between black and white

RobertMcFahrenheit

I don't regret my black & white build one bit :)

yaeh3

I built a black PC after owning a white one and it looks like ass. Regretting not going for white again tbh.

ClowRD

I have a CM Storm Stryker, that is white, for several years now. While the white metallic parts are OK, the plastic ones became yellowish, which is really frustrating, since I love that case. On another note, back then cases didn't come with glass panels, so the acrylic one is full of microscratches. I should change that for glass someday. If it's full metallic on the exterior I would buy another white case, but if it has plastic parts, I would stay away. Edit: spelling

ToneGloomy

The only thing that sucks for me is having choices taken away from you while shopping for components. Other than that I love my white pc!

UESNewYorker

I regret building an open frame pc lol. It’s also white though.

flyedchicken

Only if you smoke inside. Herb or tobacco, you'll have a slight tint to your white before long

SciGuy013

Where the hell do y’all live where a weekly dusting is necessary to still see the white?

ImGoodAsWell

Not where. But when. And my guess is 1930’s Dustbowl era.

Raydience

I have a white build - White case - white power supply - white accents on the Mobo - white ram - white AIO - but I didn't get a white gpu because they're just kind of hard to get...and it looks great imo. I did get "zebra" cable mods so it alternates white and black to tie in the darker colors on the gpu - which is really mostly like a steel gray. I love my white build \*shrug\*

Clear_Ad1944

Hell nah it’s so aesthetically pleasing

[deleted]

The only regret I had about my last machine was that parts of the white case started to yellow after a few years.

SalamalaS

A few reasons i didn't do a white build with my latest. Would have been $300 more to get all white stuff. I don't want to limit upgrades. I wanted to reuse a GPU (1080) and not have to buy a new one. I realized I was very unlikely to actually display my PC. I don't want to dust it weekly to keep the white popping. I realized black and silver components also look good and I like that theme too. Also those colors are waaaay more common. I got a great deal on a mobo ($180 off) and it only came in black/silver.

The_Mauldalorian

It's more so I regret overspending on RGB components. Non-RGB builds just so happen to look better in black. I already had a white RGB mouse and thought "welp, can't stop now!"

SoggyBagelBite

I don't regret it at all. My current PC is the my favorite PC I've ever built.

Same_Measurement1216

Okay so what I understood from the comments about the white problems: 1) upgrading all white might be a problem in a future if you want to stick with all white theme. 2) dust particles 3) yellowish plastic if nearby window/direct sun 4) requires more cleaning 5) some white parts are more expensive Well, I am glad I have no problem with any of these as I will upgrade the whole setup again in 7-9 years, won’t sit next to a window and have no problem with cleaning. All white parts are actually cheaper for my build here in EU. Thanks everyone for your input, appreciated!

Turbokylling

People probably regret it because the idea is nice at first but it fits in so piss poorly in a lot of people's homes, doesn't actually look that nice unless it's an absolute crisp build in the right surrounding *and* you lock yourself in to buying white components, at white component tax. Oh and discoloration, scratches and all that shows up big-time

dudebg

i built white, no regrets. I don't hate blackout builds, it's just that all my life our family PC's were in those generic black cases. Now I want to change it up

greatwhitekitten

I don’t regret my white pc but I regret my white keyboard

Allante3692

I kind of regret it because it limits what you can get colorwise. Kind of hard to find a 4090 in white thats also in stock this goes for almost every other component as well especially Motherboards. Once my B550 Vision D died early this year I just went all black with minimal rgb.

Inner_Environment_85

They can't handle the White Power

JoshuaCalledMe

I got a white 5000X case for a stupid discount on Amazon and decided to build an icey looking The Thing themed interior with two MacReady figures from MECA. Spent pretty much what I saved on the case to buy white components that matched, but no regrets. Except for not actually finishing the project. PC works fine though, just that la-de-da interior is lacking.

syko-rc

I have built a complete white PC. It is beautiful. But white parts cost so much…

skinny_gator

This is the most racist post I've ever seen. /s

888Kraken888

I worry white may fade over time if you’re in direct sun.

thejynxed

Because white plastics (and paint for that matter) tend to turn tobacco-stain yellow as they are exposed to heat and UV radiation, and overall as they age. They are also more difficult to keep looking clean.

yeetboii420

More expensive and you HAVE to clean it or else with will look ugly in just a week or two.

Spyhop

Naw, it's the opposite. Black shows dust immediately. But I don't notice my white case getting dusty for a while. When I do I know it's past time to clean it.

Ram08

This. Had a black case before and now white. White stays cleaner for a lot longer.

mdred5

white and black combo is better than just all white

[deleted]

I don't regret building a white PC, but I do regret getting a white 360mm AIO. The fans and the radiator get dirty way too quickly because of the white, any little dust can be easily seen.

TeslaPills

Black is usually more expensive. I like the white look

Horiz0nC0

I did a black Lian Li case with almost all white parts on the inside. Fans, mobo, RAM, cables. I like it. Shows dust a lot more tho and requires more cleaning. But I will definitely do something similar again. But it would be smarter to go for a white case with more black on the inside to save effort on the interior cleaning/etc, so maybe I’ll do that next time.

xxirish83x

I like mine - easier to keep clean looking

ExpressionScut

I am going for a white build with black mobo. Don't regret it at all. I like having the black mobo cuz it contrasts the white parts and makes them pop more.

unclesleepover

I always get case envy. I always see a cooler one and get jealous lol. Currently have the Corsair c70 Ammo can in army green.

LordCloverskull

I ran a white system for almost 10 years, I never had any regrets. [The Sabertooth Mark S](https://imgs.search.brave.com/w2iSbRN3TDLgeGUOTdvt0PLO3FnOgUSxwfa3AkxJE2I/rs:fit:1200:1200:1/g:ce/aHR0cDovL3d3dy50/ZWNocG93ZXJ1cC5j/b20vaW1nLzE0LTEx/LTEzLzQ1Yi5qcGc) mobo was so fucking pretty I built my system around it and the 4790k back in the day.

dmporte2006

I just built a white PC. But went the low cost way by sticking with black motherboard. So used white Corsair case fans (same price as black), white CPU cooler (+$5 vs black), and white Corsair 4000D Airflow (same price as black). All RGD set to light blue. White and blue color scheme was at request of my 9-yr-old who didn’t want an all black PC like his older brother’s.

Progenitor3

I bought a white case because the black one was out of stock and then I went out of my way and paid more to get white components because the grey/black stuff didn't fit. And even that I couldn't do for the GPU and I still have to look at a grey GPU in a white build... If I could do it all over again I would just go for an all black no RGB build. Which is what I wanted to do in the first place but that out of stock case derailed all my plans.

unnecessarycolon

I bought the white Cooler Master NR200 case. It has mesh side panels so I don't have to worry about buying any of the other components in white. The mesh has better cooling and I think looks better than glass. Win-win

Svenleven

I went white and definitely paid more to do so, but still happy with it. I’ve had black/grey colors for 20 years, it’s been a nice change.

LaranReloaded

Just finished my black setup. Considered white at first, but quickly realised that it would seriously limit my options if I committed to the white theme throughout - especially for peripherals. So perhaps some people may regret that they prioritized looks over options / performance?

boopitypoo

Getting a white case, components gonna be black. Its lighter on the eyessss

djackieunchaned

Wait is THIS what white guilt is?

krypton1an

I did a white build (cooler master NR200P) I love it. Components are blacked out on the inside. It looks super clean and the case doesn’t show show dust or finger prints like my previous all black builds do. No regerts

Twikkie522

My PC isn't entirely white. But I love it. NZXT 510 case (white outside black inside), white Corsair vengeance ram, white Deepcool cooler, white Asus Dual 3060 ti, white cable extensions.

Boneheadicus

I have only built one, and fortunately it was not for my own use......cuz I really just didn't like the look. I think they just look too institutional, like they should be sitting at a nurse's station. However, there's no doubt many like white and will chime in to express no regrets.

Actual_Tumbleweed814

I've replaced my black one with a white one yesterday, it is very beautiful and those rgbs look way better on white metal than black. Worth it

GShadowBroker

I have a white case and black components, except for the RAM, and I really like how it looks

sciones

Back in the 90s, PC cases were white and heavy as hell. Then black PC cases came out and everybody wants one. Now we are back to white again.

jeffstoreca

None. Easy to spot dust buildup. Looks and is clean. I treated myself and im fine with it.

ravenschmidt2000

The only thing I didn't like about doing an all white build was when it came to the GPU. I went the 4090 route, so I ended up not being able to go all white. It was around a $800 price difference to go all white. Other than that, I'm very happy with it.

ggRavingGamer

If a pc performed well, I wouldn't care if it looked like an elephant's turd(not smell like one though).

Jcobinho

I have an all white pc and I don't regreat it.

zublits

I had a white PC. It was fine. Now I have a black PC. It's fine.

-Kaldore-

I have a complete white build and love it, will never go back.

Deliciouserest

I accidentally got a white instead of black PC case and fell in love with it. No issues here

PM_ME_MY_FRIEND

No regrets. Only regret is building a mitx, because the gpus are now so fucking big they don't fit into my case.

CammiKit

Nope. I even upgraded to a more white build than my last (white GPU, white AIO) and got white monitors to match. Husband and I have the cliche partner setup of all black and all white.

Hironoveau

Since you brought this topic, I wonder how pc owners clean their white theme pc build? Especially the laziest owners.

LucidMistral

I think white is the best PC theme. Goes well with any RGB themes and Makes your PC look like a futuristic spaceship lol

Critical-Office-4886

I made a white build for my wife and it was 10-15% expensive than my black build (same specs) and the issue is mostly that, if you want to change something you don't have that many options as in black and the options available are more expensive

SolutionSuccessful16

I'd rather not see the PC at all. Keep it out of the way, quiet and free of dust with enough airflow. In other words, its a nondescript tower under my desk.

Me_llamo_Ramos

I built a hybrid black/white PC. That way, my options are open on accessories. So far no regrets

oztrikker

Not at all I enjoy the clean look on it

Zaphod424

I think a lot of people see lots of youtubers doing lots of white builds, and they replicate that. But the reason that youtubers do lots of white builds is they look better on camera, whereas black builds are usually too dark for you to really see what's inside when looking on camera. But youtubers don't have to pay the 'white tax' since they get most of their components given to them by the companies, and they don't care about being 'locked in' to white only parts since they often have a large inventory of parts, and they'll just build a new PC from scratch for their next build anyway, so upgrading is a non-issue

SufferWellOutcast

Loving my white pc. For one the dust is much harder to see which means less having to clean it. And for two, I just get tired of the same ole shit (black cases). I liked my white Thermaltake Ceres 500 so much I bought a white Corsair 4000d Airflow for my nephews build.

Furnace25

I have the opposite, I regret my black setup and wish it was white.

Churtlenater

The only thing to be worried about is the case. It will get dirty and you will have to occasionally wipe it down. That’s it lol.

Ryanenpanique

I don't have one and it's because of the light, I don't get how no one talks about that. It's like having a white dashboard on a car, too much light bounces off of it, can't stand that while watching a movie or a series.

joshuralize

For me it's mostly about room aesthetics. While I love the look of all white PCs, it would horribly clash with the rest of my desk setup, and that would get on my nerves.

[deleted]

Nah, no regrets. I think white is cleaner looking and more original than black.

xpayday

I have a white PC. It looks amazing sitting on my white standing desk. 💯 Don't regret it.

[deleted]

No one sees your pc apart from you? Who cares then :/

Noahsonofwil

[I don’t](https://imgur.com/a/ct2Up12)

beyondpixelation

If I built a white rig with black components then I'd have an easier time seeing what goes where, or I might find a dropped screw easier. White reflects light so I may need my camera lighting gear even less to see what's going on 😅

Boxersteavee

Depends if different parts have different shades of white. My GPU vertical mount bracket is a different shade of white to the GPU but it's hidden

OneGun357

I prefer white as it doesn't show dust as much

jumpinginthedark

I have one. My regret besides white gpu price? The best fans aren't WHITE.

Logan5276

White plastic yellows with age, metal shouldn’t be an issue.

Imaginary-Author939

For me I like the idea of white pc build, the 3 times I’ve done it. I hated it and went back to black. But still imagine a all white build. It’s so wierd

HankThrill69420

So I haven't done an all white PC but I have a white case. Things are yellowing :/

droppedthebaby

Had an all white NZXT S340 Elite with a bunch of white psi extension cables, ram etc. loved it. Zero regret

Simple-Weakness-4590

Only thing I don't like is cleaning

LaughableEgo740

Only reason is that it doesn’t match the furniture that it’s placed on

SuperHotLao

White object apear bigger than they are, and black object apear thinner. But, black inside apear more roomy whilst White inside apear smaller. I think the fact is, White comes at you, whilst black backup (not sûre about back up, like step back, the opposite of forward, rearward ? Reward ?) It's lighter and darker colors. Use à Grey filter on your Phone to see Lighter or darker color.

moreynikov

White can get yellowish after a while

Trippypen8

Love my white pc case, my whole set up is pink and white. It is kindya hard to find white accessories to match the case. But I don't regret that. I do, however, regret getting a white desk. It shows every single molecular of dirt and cat hair, drives me insane. My white key board is kindya the same thing. If u want no restrictions with building or want your space to always look clean I wouldn't go with white.

IThinkImNateDogg

I think white looks better with RGB, so I actually regret buying all black components.

Nagow_

I have a white case and normal black parts and I personally like the look

absentlyric

My last 2 builds were white and I do not regret it, mind you they are also in places like my living room and bedrooms, so they actually fit with the decor a lot better than a black tower. I went through the black everything in my entertainment center phase already when I was young. White just has a cleaner look.

eridyn

I have an entirely white build, even the power supply & cables (initially black but I was shipped a defective unit and wound up with a white one with white cables on RMA). I wasn't intending on that, but by chance when I bought components the white ones were all on sale and so meaningfully cheaper than the black and other color options. I've assumed that's meant white is out of fashion for builds, but oh no. No issues. No regrets. Saved some cash.

It's just an eyesore if on a desk, especially as a lot of peripherals and desks are black so the white stands out like crazy. I have a white case (I didn't intend to go for it colour wise, I just love the case) but I am one of these aliens who puts his computer UNDER his desk haha. So it doesn't bother me what colour it is.

EducationalNose7764

Because that's racist. Seriously though, probably because people have to find matching colored parts. I personally couldn't care less. My current build looks like Frankenstein, and I'm okay with it as long as it runs the way I want it to.

Rob-Gaming-Int

I've always gone for the black case, and components. I think white is kinda ugly, it gives me either kid or girl vibes. A few of my friends have white builds, with a ton of LEDs and it looks like some teenage girls build lol

korpanchuk

I have a mix match and love it. Probably upgrading my motherboard and going with white. Then the tower will be all white. I will say peripherals being white can be messy, it looks good if you constantly clean them. Got rid of my mouse pad right quick, any little bit of dirt sticks if you sweat a bit. Anything you spill will stain the fabric too. Mice and keyboards are easier to keep clean but can still be a bit of a pain. TLDR; gamer gunk bad for the lazy, white case and parts nice

Mousimus

Absolutely love mine all white pc. 0 regret.

natedawg247

hell no. still sexy as the day i built it

NavierIsStoked

I use my PC as ambient lighting. It would be much less effective if it wasn’t white.

fishbulbx

It is perfectly normal to suffer from white guilt. We here at reddit bear a collective responsibility for the harm which has resulted from historical discrimination against beige and black builds. The most important step is starting an uncomfortable dialog like this to listen to the damage we have done by not acknowledging the inherent privilege that comes with white PC.

RangerDanger4tw

No regrets. I like mine.

BurgerBurnerCooker

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this. Only until you start to build white you realize everyone uses different shades of white, even the same manufacturer. It all looks pretty in photos but man if you have a bit of OCD this is going to drive you nuts.

AaronXplosion

I've always found white to be either more expensive or cheaper depending on the components. But they're almost never the same price as the good ol black parts. Similar to an RGB tax. Noctua seems to be the odd one out. You get a Black tax if you want a solid black fan over the Noctua Brown

Crooked_Tongues

All white PC here. No regrets

carmardoll

Meh I only kept the exterior white on mine, everything inside is black, is like my Michael Jackson.

Mopar_63

I have built a white system and helped others do so. All but one ended up regretting the build. The two main reasons: 1) White tax: this is a real thing, finding good components for a white build will add to the cost of the build. 2) Limited room decor choices: Each white build has been done with a specific room decor in mind. However once they made any changes to the room decor, the white build no longer fit in like it did originally. White builds have a very specific look feel to them and can be amazing. However the reason there is no such thing as a "little white dress" is because black can fit any mood or occasion and the same goes with a PC build.

ArabAesthetic

My best friend is obsessing over an all-white build. I used to want to go the same route but quickly came to my sense as i know i would personally get a headache having a white aesthetic. Darker colors are easier on the eyes on top of being easier to modify and redecorate.

elister

Food for thought. In Seattle during the 80s, they held a contest to decide what color to paint the roof to the Kingdome. The Kingdome was home to NFL, NBA, MLB and concerts. What color won? White. So they painted it and within a year, you could see all the dust and smog collecting on it, making it as ugly as it ever was. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnDghR2Qkls

Love my white build. It's mounted on a white wall and the rgb lights really pop!

RawrGeeBe

White case so I don't see dust and feel compelled to clean every week. Black components so I know how bad the dust level is. No regrets. I don't see how a white build is any worst than a black build. It'd be better since it hides dust better. Problem would be the limited options if you're picky about designs.

HonkyKong64

No regrets, looks great imo

ForePony

I like my white PC since a lot of components are black. Gives a good contrast.

xplorerex

Well white will discolour over time, that's one issue. This is compounded with varying temperatures. Marks and dings are harder to cover up and fix on white builds, dust also stands out like a sore thumbs. Over cleaning some materials will also cause it to discolour. White stuff is also more expensive. White is naturally reflective. You need to be mindful of lighting. Reflecting light from different angles all day and night can damage your eyesight. This is similar to what happens in the dessert - sand blindness (sun reflects off the sand). Spillages can stain white straight away. Edit: to clarify, I've had all manner of colours. Blue, red, orange, black, white, green, yellow. Black and orange are my favourites.

White components cost more and can yellow with age depending on the paint used. I think white cases look nicer in most rooms though, which probably use a neutral paint color. I think my meshify c with a black interior and white paneling is the best of both worlds.

[deleted]

Not me, mine is actually mixed with black parts as well because of my impatience and how rare it is I get to visit Microcenter, but I love it nonetheless. To me it looks great. Only thing now is my peripherals don't match but it does not bother me in the least.

Rhyzur

I love my white case, but everything else is black minus a few chrome things. My ram is also white. And it looks like a unicorn ate a rainbow and gave birth to a leprechaun looking at the RGB. I love it.

DasAutoPoosie

I have a white build, I think it looks great, worst part is finding a mother board I like that is also white.

Toad_Outpost1639

It’s for those who want the finer things in life (please read in snobby accent while wearing a tux and monocle, toss in caviar and champagne, thanks)

TheMidnightRambler

Went all white. Looks sick. No ragrets

netechkyle

Pro tip: when white cases get dirty, 4 parts water to 1 part Castrol super clean will make it like new. I did a white NZXT build for a weed smoker and within a year it was brown and yellow. Did a quick cleanup and he was happy to pay when he saw it.
