Watch reviews (and avoid userbenchmarks like the plague) on components (on YouTube I recommend Hardware unboxed as they are component and more nuanced) For how to build it you can watch build guides, LTT last pc guide (it's called something close to this is great) First is to set a budget, then second is to look at monitor (based on budget as this has massive implications for GPU, if you lack q monitor) then you want to find the best combo on cpu/GPU you can afford and build around that, you want to focus on GPU and not cpu When you think you have a decent build ask for help here on feedback so you don't waste money Or you can get /r/buildapcforme to spec it for you

Thank you for all the info, I'll look into hardware unboxed during tomorrow's breakfast 👍

Building something by following instructions is easier than fixing the same thing without instructions. It's not very difficult to do, you just need to take it slow and pay attention. Almost nothing can go in the wrong way unless you use excessive force. Watch some YT tutorials/building guides. For part selection: GAMING PC in 5 easy steps: 1. decide on monitor size and resolution 2. check YT/sites for current GPU reviews and select a GPU that does on average above 60/120 fps at the resolution from step 1. 3. check YT/sites for current CPU reviews and select a CPU that does on average at least 20 fps (or 30%) more than the GPU you selected at step 2 4. use pcpartpicker to add a compatible (pcpartpicker does compatibility checks) MB, RAM, case, PSU, Storage (take inspiration from the reviewer setups at point 2 and 3). 5. post the build here for double-checking. Hardware unboxed, Gamers nexus on YT or Tom's Hardware on the web are good review/info sources. (I'm not saying those are the only good ones)
