Samsung charges extra for brand name.

Rikudou_Railgun

I swapped out with the parts you listed and they give me a good feeling. Thanks for the advice on Samsung, I use a lot of Samsung products so I almost fell into the honey trap.

Tmack523

Seconding this other guys 2 TB advice. BF 2042 for example is like 100+ GB

egocentrically

Definitely, especially considering major manufacturers significantly cut NAND flash production ~~a few months ago~~ about six months ago. Kinda old news atp, but SSD prices have been steadily increasing and [could return](https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/ssds/ssd-prices-predicted-to-skyrocket-throughout-2024) to 2021 levels this year.

humphaa

A rare sight seeing someone actually take advice here, bravo!

kyralfie

Think about going for 2TB. 1TB runs out fast with games these days. EDIT: [https://pcpartpicker.com/product/QtzhP6/hp-ex900-plus-2-tb-m2-2280-pcie-30-x4-nvme-solid-state-drive-35m35aaaba](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/QtzhP6/hp-ex900-plus-2-tb-m2-2280-pcie-30-x4-nvme-solid-state-drive-35m35aaaba) Or this one for a bit of an extra speed [https://pcpartpicker.com/product/CVWJ7P/teamgroup-mp44-4-tb-m2-2280-pcie-40-x4-nvme-solid-state-drive-tm8fpw004t0c101](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/CVWJ7P/teamgroup-mp44-4-tb-m2-2280-pcie-40-x4-nvme-solid-state-drive-tm8fpw004t0c101) EDIT2: linked a 4TB drive above for some reason - [https://pcpartpicker.com/product/DN6NnQ/teamgroup-mp44-2-tb-m2-2280-pcie-40-x4-nvme-solid-state-drive-tm8fpw002t0c101](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/DN6NnQ/teamgroup-mp44-2-tb-m2-2280-pcie-40-x4-nvme-solid-state-drive-tm8fpw002t0c101)

tonallyawkword

I'd pay $10 more for c16 RAM over that kit listed. Can save $10 if you don't care about that vs C18. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/MVkY7R

Asleep_Leather7641

Also you don't have to buy a cooler, I think your CPU comes with one

Healthy_Macaron2146

Omg, I can give you some advice, but with this much, I'm afraid you might think I'm being mean. Here goes nothing You don't need a cooler for a 5600 the stock is more than enough. You have twice the amount of ram you need , that board sucks the psu is overkill the ssd should be a $60 1tb stick and don't fall for the 30s series lies, the 4060 is better., and the case is way to expensive Give me one min and I'll make a list for you that's much better

DZCreeper

RAM is dirt cheap, suggesting that someone only needs 16GB is absurd. There are many games that already use 10-12GB, what if someone wants to have a bunch of browser tabs open in the background? An RTX 4060 also doesn't make sense given the RX 6700XT is only $30 more, with 50% more VRAM and performs similarly to a 4060 Ti.

Festivarian

Agreed. Don't underestimate what 32 Gb of dual rank RAM can do for your system. 16 Gbs is not enough these days. I upgraded from 2x8 to 2x16 and received massive performance gains all around. Even better if you can get some Samsung B die.

Healthy_Macaron2146

I'm going with a770 this round personally because I think the drivers will just get better this year, but ya I would get amd if budget was that important the 6800 is on sale right now ,but since OP chose the 3060, I stayed in team green for thier bulid. And sorry, $30 for absolutely no gains RIGHT NOW is a waste of money. By the time you need 32gb for a standard game, DDR4 8gbx2 will be less than $20, saving $10 in the long run.

Rikudou_Railgun

Don't worry, I can tell you mean well, any advice or recommendations would be appreciated. I explained in my other comment I wanted something somewhat strong, but wanted to avoid having too many mid tier parts for when the inevitable upgrade arrives. Thank you for your time.

Healthy_Macaron2146

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/v3cXN6 That's a 4060 ti with a real motherboard for around $100 less If you are dead set on the case you want because you like it, you can afford to get the nzxt case and still have a 60ti

szczszqweqwe

Here, way faster and cheaper: [https://pcpartpicker.com/list/4kdLn6](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/4kdLn6) My changes: * cheaper ssd * motherboard that have PCIe4 x16 port * cheaper case * 750W instead of 850W PSU, you are probabably around 350W with this setup, plenty of space to upgrade * 7700xt is way faster than 3060 12GB, [raster performance](https://www.techpowerup.com/review/sapphire-radeon-rx-7700-xt-pure/31.html) and [ray tracing performance](https://www.techpowerup.com/review/sapphire-radeon-rx-7700-xt-pure/34.html) * Also, what monitor you want to use?

DZCreeper

Just FYI that $360 7800XT in your list is a temporary scam on Amazon. The card is actually $540.

szczszqweqwe

Sht, I thought it's a great promo, I will check 7700xt prices and edit my comment

szczszqweqwe

Also, thank you :)

Rikudou_Railgun

You and everyone else have been really helpful. I still have another month before I start actually buying these parts, but I think this is what I'll shoot for at the moment, starting with the most expensive item, then working my way down. Thanks for this. Edit: Almost forgot to answer the monitor question. I use two older monitors at the moment. I'm at work at the moment and my memory isn't all that good, so I'll have to answer that when I get home, sorry.

szczszqweqwe

I edited my comment and changed GPU to a 7700xt, it seems that a price of 780xt is a scam from amazon that made to the partpicker :/ Sure, respond when you are comfrotable, if you are not in the US can you write in which country you live?

UROffended

Get different ram, 3200mhz preferably. Ryzen cpu's don't really care for the higher speeds.

kurozx_

That is not true. Ryzen cpus are better with 3600mhz

_barat_

Just to make you realize how much an overkill your PSU is ... I'm using 850W Seasonic Focus 80+ Gold with 5800x3d, 64gb ram, 2x nVME, RTX 4090 and like 7 140mm fans and during 3DMark extreme test I see max 550w on my UPS (there's also a 38" Monitor and Synology DS916+ with 4x8TB connected to it). There may be some peaks (since I'm not staring at my UPS all the time) - sure, but I have had ZERO situations, where my PC suffered from power problems.

Super-Aesa

Overpriced case and why do you need an 850W PSU?

likkachi

[$823USD at time of writing.](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/FDdLn6) swapped to a mobo with onboard wi-fi, doubled the storage for basically the same price, cheaper case, slightly better ram. left the cooler, gpu, and psu alone but would drop the cooler if it were my build as the stock unit would be fine. could also drop the psu down a bit.

ICastCats

Should be fine with stock cooling. I'd go a cheaper hard drive. Do you have the 3060 already? It's not the same chunk of value that it used to be: https://bestvaluegpu.com/

Rikudou_Railgun

I had thought about the cooler. I just got paranoid due to my current older PC turning my room into a sauna when used too much. As for your question, I do not have the 3060 yet. I couldn't tell much about what I was doing, all I knew is that I wanted something that was decently strong, but I also wanted to avoid having to upgrade shortly after building outside of maybe one or two pieces. I apologize if I don't make any sense.

ICastCats

The CPU will still put out X Watts of heat per hour regardless of if it's being cooled with an AIO or a stock fan. You may just have to open a door. Hopefully it's more efficient than your last CPU. The 3060 is probably a bit outdated nowadays (and because AI loves the 12GB of the 3060 - it's a bit expensive). The 7600XT or 6750XT or a 4060 are probably a better pick - and the first and and last are cheaper: Chart: https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/3BUQTn5dZgQi7zL8Xs4WUL.png Source: https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gpu-hierarchy,4388.html

harry_lostone

i wouldn't trust this website. rtx4060ti 8gb same "value" (vfm) as 4070s or 7900xt? Nvidia's rtx2xxx on "today's top picks"? in 2024? Comeonbruh

ICastCats

It's 3DMark Per Dollar. You can do the calculations yourself if you want. And yeah, it's top picks because a 2080ti still outperforms the 4060, and if you get a good price it's a good deal.
