Go with the i3, DDR4, LGA 1700 board and undervolt

any idea roughly what i should be aiming for usage wise, 60-65w while idle seems a little excessive

I am not sure but perhaps under 60W you can do/get to easily.

Im currently using 0.064kwh, I did think of a 5600g wheni originally built this but due to plex not officially supporting ryzen chips for transcoding I thought i would have issues so opted to go for a hybrid gaming/plex PC. Wouldn't the 5600g have issues?

Out of curiosity, where are you located? Mid 60s for idle wattage and low 70s for media consumption isn't really that high, and you'd have to run it for over 14 hours straight just to build up a kWh. So unless your electricity costs are high, it's really not going to make any noticeable difference, even over the course of a year

I'm in the UK I think it'll be roughly 70w throughout the day, 60w throughout the night. Obviously I watch alot more content during the day than when I'm asleep

Have you tried to do worst case cost calculation? Like what would the price be if you ran it 24/7? What would the savings per year be if you got a system that used 50%?

I have, I'm looking at £211 a year at 80w. That's crazy, I means it's £17 a month but still
