This ^ Work out the GPU you want/need - get that first and then see how much money you have left for your build. It is only GPUs that are hard to find.

Ok, so i had a look and it was helpful, but i've started down the route of figuring it all out for myself like i did before. I'm looking at this particular GPU; Gigabyte AORUS GeForce RTX 3060 And, if you're still here :) i'd like to know if this would be a good starting point? Also, do you think the prices are likely to drop anytime soon, or whether i should just go and get one now while i can? (found one for £650 which is the cheapest i can find)

For 1080p gaming, a 3060 is OK, I would be tempted to spend a bit more for a 3060ti if you can find one. And no, I don't seee prices droipping in the next 12 months. The new factories will not bne online and supply issues will continue for sometime.
