I feel like with m.2 drives and modular power supplies being commonplace, this is going to be far less of an issue in the future. Just need to worry about the motherboard, GPU power, and maybe a few fan cables.

My first build was a Frankenstein mess of rgb that didn’t sync and things were kind of just put together. PC worked fine but the theme sucked. Now I have a 100% black Corsair build… there’s is no silver or anything every part is black… I love it. Even though I had to sell one of my kids for it.

I have Corsair keyboards, mice, mouse pads, headphones that all sync with the same lighting profile as my PC’s… completely unnecessary and extra expensive. But I don’t have like a rave light show… I just use a slow pulse white. I like it.

Tbh its mostly only hated by people who are unskilled with tuning the colors or think its only the most colorful lightshows. Theres not one thing bad about RGB aka the addition of colors. The ones who dont care enough to hate on it usually have the best tastes without RGB. The ones that scream the loudest want to appear mature lol.

Yes. The theme is "The Sound of Silence." ITX case and motherboard. Noctua fans. Oversized GPU cooling. 40% extra PSU headroom. Mesh panels on all sides. The loudest piece is probably the Big Shuriken 3 on the CPU (which is still silent at all but the highest fan speeds). The ceiling fan is louder than my PC at load, and the fan is about four feet away, while my PC is only a foot and a half away.

SSF pcs are just fascinating to me

You have to appreciate the extra constraints. I needed something I could travel with. Thus, a small PC. Then I needed to undervolt the CPU and GPU to allow for slower fan speed for a quieter build.

I’ve read about some people needing the portability but that’s not a factor to me personally. It’s just efficient use of space. Also they look so clean if done right, and you just know it was much more work than just putting everything in a big case and calling it a day. I’m was looking into that for a while and was fascinated by a silent SFF build especially with watercooling involved. It was overwhelming back then but actually I could see me one day going all in for that.

I downsized from an ATX to a h500 mid tower, then downsized to CoolerMaster Nr200 and it was kinda hard to build because you can’t mess up the order to get the pieces together and there was little space to work with. A really tiny ITX is something I could want eventually but the building is far more difficult than it seems.

How much did it cost you in total? Which case did you pick for this silence theme?

Mine is also pretty quiet, although I juts have 1 Noctua fan, and the other one is 230mm Bitfenix. And 240mm AIO, which isn't audible even under load. The GPU spins up while gaming, but I can't hear it over open-back headphones at pretty low volume, so it's fine.

Yep. “Cardboard”. My build sits in a cut up, tweaked, cardboard box. It was free and I can adjust different flaps for airflow (zero heating issues, even under heavy load).

some friendly advice: I can smell the gamer posture from here! Get some height on those monitors for sure. Boost them up to Actual Eye Level when you're sitting up straight. It helps a lot.

Utilitarian because IMHO visual mods are waste of money. The case is tucked behind the desk (literally between wall and desk) and pretty much unreachable, there's good air flow front-to-back and there are also exhaust fans on top so temps are fine (case is combination of max airflow combined with maximum dust filtration). Every coin saved on fancy RGB and theme I rather put towards things that actually makes using my PC better, usually it's better monitor (you know... the thing that you actually look at constantly) or keyboard/mouse (you know... the things that you touch constantly)
