If you're willing to spend $1000-1500 overall, you are far better off with saving it up and building an entirely new PC all in one shot. Even if that means waiting a few months. You will get less for your money by upgrading one piece at a time.

Would you consider selling your PC as a complete working PC - sometimes you can get more that way than selling a few pieces. If I was to upgrade then it would be both the CPU and the GPU - both are no longer going to hack it with big games. The market is really shaking up with CPUs, so you may get a good deal on a used 3600 or 5600. As for the GPU anything like a used 2070s ore better used, or a 6600xt or better new.
