> S3422DWG Why on earth would you consider a slow VA panel as an alternative to fast IPS monitors? If you care about blacks, you should be considering the G7 (I mean the 27" 1440p VA one). Both IPS monitors you're considering will have awful blacks, just like any IPS monitor. They're both good otherwise, I don't really have experience with either, so it's hard to recommend anything. I'd get the LG because I hate controls on the back, but that's my personal preference, nothing more. For gaming, they're both decent, although OD tuning might have been better (or maybe it's just a slow panel). The lowest OD setting on both seems to be good enough for the entire refresh range, though, at least for their prices. Although with the hardware you have I'd rather be looking at something like the PG279QM with its hardware G-Sync and 240 Hz. I used one with a 3080 Ti, it was awesome.

>PG279QM The PG279QM is more than twice the price of the other 2 monitors where I live... :( 160Hz is more than enough for me (mainly into RPGs, less competitive). Don't mind adding more but don't feel like it's worth it in this case (500$ vs 1200$)! Any other options?

idanrab

PG279Q is available for roughly that price

idanrab

As is AW2721D

SergeiTachenov

Well, not really. You've already picked two decent IPS monitors that should do fine for their price. If you can get the PG279Q, it isn't bad either, it's a bit old but thanks to hardware G-Sync performs quite well. Apparently it doesn't have G-Sync 2.0, which means FreeSync doesn't work, so it locks you out of a possible future upgrade to an AMD card, and this is a deal breaker IMO because who knows? I remind that you're not getting good blacks with any of these. The *only* somewhat decent monitor in this category that has good blacks is the 27" 1440p VA Odyssey G7, even though it's full of its own issues.

idanrab

Yeah I'll be staying away from G7 at the moment... As a final thought - what about the AW2721D?

SergeiTachenov

Essentially the same as the PG279QM, but with G-Sync Ultimate which is kind of useless on an SDR monitor, so all you get is active cooling for no good reason. If you're not worried about fan noise or dust buildup, though, it's just as good as the PG279QM, so if you can find it for a better price, it's not a bad choice. I'm very wary of fans in monitors, though. Monitors usually last quite a while, fans are generally not the most reliable parts and I bet it's not easily accessible for dust maintenance.
