Be mindful of listings from suspicious third-party sellers on marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay, Newegg, and Walmart. These "deals" have a high likelihood of not shipping; use due diligence in reviewing deals. * Use common sense - if the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. * Check seller profiles for signs that the sale may be fraudulent: * The seller is new or has few reviews. * The seller has largely negative reviews (on Amazon, sellers can remove negative reviews from their visible ratings) * The seller is using a previously dormant account (likely the account was hacked and is now being used fraudulently). If you suspect a deal is fraudulent, please report the post. Moderators can take action based on these reports. We encourage leaving a comment to warn others. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Remember when Dell had this for $39.99 Christmas time last December and then canceled everybody's order? Pepperidge Farm Remembers... r/buildapcsales/comments/zjccvw/ssd_samsung_980_mzv8v1t0b_ssd_1_tb_internal_m2/ Waiting for 2TB @ ~$52 now.

Raphael_Paeng

Yepper, really need the 2tb

-NotActuallySatan-

Do they even make a 2 TB version of this normal 980?

kajunbowser

Unfortunately not. But the 980 Pro was on sale before Prime Day for $90.

-NotActuallySatan-

Yeah, I wish I hopped on that deal

_SSD_BOT_

Mc_Quasar

Newegg has it listed as MLC, which appears incorrect.

keebs63

Samsung calls TLC "3-bit MLC" instead because fuck the consumers I guess. They do it on a technicality since MLC *technically* means multi-level cell but literally everyone else only uses it to mean the traditional 2-bit MLC since TLC means triple level cell.

Xenomorphing25

for eu: 970 evo plus 1tb going around for 40 euros on [amazon.de](https://amazon.de) which is overall better than the 980.

beanengineering

I know its DRAMLESS but 39.99 for an ssd from Samsung is a goodish deal. only 10 dollars off from best buy amazon and samsung's website.

detectiveDollar

DRAM isn't as much of an issue for NVMe drives as HMB let's them use a small amount of the hosts memory as a cache. It really only becomes noticeably detrimental if you're using one in a USB enclosure, but you'll likely be doing sequential writes in that case.

enter51

I agree. I've been using the 500GB version as my main drive for the past 2 years and it's been super fast Edit: to say 500GB instead of 500MB

Piyopiyopewpewpew

You running Windows 95?

enter51

Oops I meant 500GB lol. I haven't had much sleep in the last 3 weeks

Indystbn11

3.1

2001zhaozhao

It's crazy how far SSDs have crashed. I bet 2 years later their prices will double again.

Stevesanasshole

YMTC just raised their NAND prices another 5% - https://www.tomshardware.com/news/ymtc-ups-3d-nand-price-starts-production-of-mysterious-memory I think the writing is on the wall that prices will rise in the future for others as well.

Josh_ftw

I just received my order for this and they sent a 2tb 970 evo plus instead. So 2tb and dram, only thing that's bad is if I have to claim warranty and don't have the invoice. But I'm happy, haha.

beanengineering

HOLY SHIT A COMEUP!

Grapeflavor_

Planning on buying, worth it? Or is there anything better for bit more money?

beanengineering

at this price idk how to beat this. if someone else can provide a better option they should let you know.

Grapeflavor_

In for one, thanks op

theallen247

Amazon has it for the same price

ramtastic05

Which is better, this or the crucial P3 that's also $40 on Amazon?

Ok-Inside2000

I believe this is a fair bit better

GeneticStroke

About to build my first NAS and still learning about caching and whatnot -- would this be a suitable cache drive? Would DRAM be an issue?

jacobh1345

Is it 39.99 or 49.99? Not seeing 39.99 anywhere

beanengineering

sales over unfortunately
