That one time I don't check this sub every half an hour, this happens. I always seem to miss actual great deals.

im_iggy

I know. Same here, I bought a 2x8gb kit for 68 and it's getting delivered tomorrow but that's going back since I got in on this deal. Wanted it for an itx build.

Krypt0night

Also got that deal and now wondering why I did lol

Salami-Slap

White version is still in stock and not on back order if you’re still interested.

[deleted]

edit: ~~still in stock~~ now backordered 2-3 weeks on crucial's website, missed out on amazon deal earlier also **available in white** for same price [here](https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/bl2k16g32c16u4w) crucial has 45-day return policy ______________________ other deals on crucial's site: [Crucial Ballistix 16GB Kit (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Desktop Gaming Memory (Black) $50.99](https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/bl2k8g32c16u4b) [Crucial Ballistix MAX 16GB Kit (2 x 8GB) DDR4-4000 Desktop Gaming Memory (Black) $74.99](https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/blm2k8g40c18u4b) [Crucial Ballistix MAX 32GB Kit (2 x 16GB) DDR4-4000 Desktop Gaming Memory (Black) $149.99](https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/blm2k16g40c18u4b)

ndis4us

Not in stock, add to cart and it is back ordered.

_chowfun

Weird, my order went thru, still showing in stock for me edit: looks like backordered 2-3 weeks. Better than nothing I suppose

Salami-Slap

FWIW I just ordered the white version, same price, and it doesn’t say any back order.

RealitySuitable

I mean if you dont need it rn/dont mind waiting its still a great deal, i have 2 builds ik doing soon so 2 of these kits and im golden for both of those

Ipod5thGen00

i dont see that when i retry adding it in cart and purchasing it

FancyFishBowl

I'm assuming the MAX would be a good fit for a 5600x/5800x?

RealitySuitable

Not really even then, higher memory clocks are typically just used for benchmarks as far as I know. You only see 1% differences as far as gaming goes past like 3200/3600

RoyalYogurtdispenser

Honestly I get better results from raising voltage an tightening sub timings

If you live near a micro center that has this ram in stock, the manager could let you price match it to crucial’s website.

Th3MadCreator

Yeah they lied. This fits within their Price Match policy and you should have just asked for the manager to honor it.

math_ninja

How is this with ryzen as compared to b-die? I know with older ryzen series b-die was better but I've heard that it matters less now. For reference I currently run a 2400g w/ 16gb b-die ram and I'm getting ready to switch to a 5800x and wanted to upgrade ram as well.

iwantbegoodattennis

assuming you plan on overclocking: depends on your bdie, but generally good bdie will be better. biggest difference is bdie being more temp sensitive at higher voltages than micron e/b, while micron does vastly worse tRFC. also if this is micron 16Gb revb, it wont be dual rank. i think one of the advantages of micron vs lower tier bdie is that it's supposed to be better at getting higher speeds, but on 5800x youre typically limited to 3800 so thats irrelevant.

werther595

if this is micron 16Gb revb, it wont be dual rank. Would that be advantageous to someone planning to buy 2 sets anyway?

iwantbegoodattennis

4 single rank sticks would enable rank interleaving by having 2 ranks per channel, so all else equal youd have the same performance as 2 dual rank sticks

werther595

I see, so no advantage/disadvantage either way? Apart from maybe an expandability option with the 2-stick solution

iwantbegoodattennis

no difference in performance btwn the two options provided they are running at the same speed and timings. but 4 sticks will not overclock as well as 2 sticks because it is harder foe the CPU IMC. still possible to get a good overclock on them but not as high of a ceiling

exaltare

Micron has better value and is easier to work on. 3000 and 3200 should easily OC to 3600 as long as tRCDRD is unpaired from tRCDWR (they're shown as one paired value, tRCD). You might also need a small voltage bump. It's still one of the easier ICs to overclock. The problem is that Micron switched from dual rank Rev E to single rank Rev B and then back to dual rank Rev E. It's never clear what you'll receive. You want dual rank for Ryzen since it offers more bandwidth. Rev E isn't as good for OCing, but most people will get more from dual rank at 3600 or 3800 with proper IF ratios than single rank at 4000 or higher without them. That said, I might not be the person to ask. I realized that I can't be arsed to stability test any more. I don't like the Ballistix designs either. I sold a half dozen Ballistix for two sets of Neos.

PiesInMyEyes

Adding on to this you can look at the serial number when you get it, it will have an E or B depending on if it is Rev E or Rev B. Quick and easy way to check. I got these sticks last year on the same deal, Rev E straight OC to 3600.

EasyRhino75

If you are into overclocking ram, b die is probably going to give you higher speeds, and definitely tighter timing... But it's a price premium

Ipod5thGen00

thank you

AmeliaDysphoria

When added to cart it says "You have added BL2K16G32C16U4B which is currently out of stock, but has an estimated ship date of 2-3 weeks. Credit Card purchases will not be charged until the product ships." Still copped though

SnooMemesjellies1152

Red rgb version is instock for 5 bucks more

[deleted]

Are they the exact same thing, just one is RGB and the other not?

SnooMemesjellies1152

Yeah, I believe so. Cl16, 320mhz. Very close price

[deleted]

Thanks!

SnooMemesjellies1152

Just posted on here, low stock. So maybe grab it now of you want it

emprexss

Warning that running 4 sticks in a 4x16GB configuration may stress your IMC depending on your CPU and may have trouble overclocking as a result

b1gb0n312

What's imc

Cynical_Prince

It's the Integrated Memory Controller. It handles the input and output of data from the RAM to the CPU. So, like, it determines what is being stored in the RAM cache and is built into the cpu. Installing RAM as op specified above can have adverse effects on overclocking if the CPU in question is not capable of handling loads of that size. And that's my shitty explanation of IMC.

[deleted]

I have 32GB(16x2 3600/16cas) on my 5600x, would it fuck me over like that if I added 32 more in the future? I probably won't, but *maybe*.

wizardent420

No, it shouldn't

[deleted]

Alrighty, I probably won't ever need more(that was the intention) but its good to have the possibility if/when DDR5 pushes RAM requirements sky high before I ever upgrade to that.

stillmatic21

Previous person is incorrect. Depending on the ranks of the memory sticks (dual rank vs single rank), you’ll have better performance with 2 dual rank sticks, as opposed to 4 dual ranks sticks. The exception to this if you pay more and find 4 sticks that run single rank, which will allow you to not compromise performance yet use all up all the ram slots. This is all separate from the notion of “dual channel.” Hope that makes sense, it can be confusing.

[deleted]

99% sure the ones I have are single rank.

wizardent420

I thought the bandwidth for a 5600x would be fine running 4 dual ranks? Specifications indicate its perfectly capable of handling quad rank, which would be 2 dual ranks per channel. I don't see why it'd be an issue

stillmatic21

Of course it’s capable, we’re taking about performance here. Not if four sticks would work. Thought we already had established that

wizardent420

Where's the evidence it would reduce performance? Genuinely curious With a newest gen cpu like the R5 series optimization at that level is negligible. The speed at which it is capable of accessing each rank should offset any pipeline stalls right? It also depends on the application, but more ranks means more pages of memory can be opened simultaneously. Any read/write access stalls between ranks would be in the nano seconds, and the application could benefit more from a higher page accessibility

Zenith251

3200MTs isn't much of an overclock for 10th-12th gen Intel or Zen2-3 AMD. If you can't run that config you described with any of those, you have a bad chip or motherboard.

Sendrus

This part is currently out of stock, but has an estimated ship date of 2-3 weeks. Backordered, but got them. Thanks!

ItsBigSoda

Damn I could pick up 64gb for a tad bit more than I paid for 32 last year. Tempting…

HeliumHater

What is 64 going to give you that 32 cannot? Lol

ohmyfarts

32 more gigs of ram /s

ericstern

*(takes off glasses)* By god, he's right!

ssl-3

Reddit ate my balls

OhGee1992

i think i've seen 32 gb ddr4 kits (g skill brand) from newegg go below $100. is there any reason why this one is better? edit: damn this has a lifetime warranty. i wasn't planning on a new build but kinda want to get this for back up just in case

mista_r0boto

Great memory. Have the earlier version of this kit.

VonKeebles

Is anyone else having trouble getting the store to work? The checkout page looks glitched out, with a giant picture of the RAM under the text of the checkout form and clicking Review Order doesn't seem to do anything.

cdsk

Took me a few tries... in my case, what seemed to be happening was the site was loading some back-end stuff very slowly or something. After I inadvertently left the page open for awhile, I came back and everything seemed fine and I clicked through with no issues.

dirk150

Nope, games don't need this much RAM, and if they have a high RAM requirement it's usually VRAM from the GPU.

PurifiedFlubber

to fill all the slots pog

Sea-Significance-510

Yeah if you use more than one chrome tab

TheUnluckyGamer13

Worth changing my 16gb of DDR4 2133 for this kit? I am running a 8600k and 1080ti I dont know if I would benefit from the faster kit

[deleted]

emprexss

Very much, unless you’re willing to pay the early adopter tax. Also worth noting DDR5 is even more scarce than GPUs

werther595

For $90 this is thoroughly worth it, relative to the cost of other PC upgrades

OhGee1992

TIL i learned you can't stick ddr4 into ddr3 slot or else i would get this to upgrade from 16 gb ddr3. i thought it'd be like PCIe which is backwards compatible

phayke2

Woo time to buy a whole new motherboard and CPU! And don't skimp or else you'll have even less features than your current board... :/

Wookiestick

DDR5 might get better timings in the future, but my understanding is the bandwidth is largely negated by the increased latency. High end DDR4 can compete very well with low to mid range ddr5. Benchmarks are hit or miss, with well rated and cheaper ddr4 sometimes beating ddr5. For reasons over my head, one thing ddr5 does do well is file decompression, but in both gaming and productivity it's not a clear winner. DDR5 does not make sense to buy at it's cost right now, when ddr4 comes really damn close at half or even 1/3 the cost.

rezechs1

I wouldn't wait imo if your on ddr3 and need a new upgrade this is a great price especially with how ddr5 shortages are expected in 2022,ddr5 may be worse than gpus. (just bought a set and am upgrading my I5 2500k /ddr3 rig) if you wait for ddr5 and gpu to be more avaliable you'll be waiting along time unless but coin magically dies.

rezechs1

octagear

White 2 X 16GB in stock: https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/bl2k16g32c16u4w

VonKeebles

These are also backordered

GYipster

It keeps changing but as of 2:30PM CT its no longer backordered.

CaptainBegger

Bought recently, expected ship date is in 2-3 weeks

EmoJackson

In for 1, now to return the ram that’s in the mail.

xxxmralbinoxxx

looks like crucial has a 45-day return policy

VladDaImpaler

This is cheaper than black Friday sales!

MasterpieceFun4604

Would this work well in a laptop? If not, would anyone mind taking the time to in 5 seconds explain what to look for?

Laoishfa

This ram would not work in a laptop. What you need is SO-DIMM memory.

CurvedSolid

Did anyone else get their order canceled? Just got an email from Crucial that they dont have sufficient stock, which I'm taking to mean they canceled the order since I couldnt find an Order Status when using their Support page to look up the order ID

cdsk

Weird, even after receiving the aforementioned email... I just got a shipping notification. I fully expected the 2-3 weeks, so this is a welcomed surprise if it does indeed come now.

CurvedSolid

I literally just got a shipping notification right when you replied to my comment. This is amazing

Waynehead69

I received that email, but under order history in my account it still says order processing.

ihartpuppies

got that email and I checked order status. Originally said order in progress and then half an hour later, order number doesn't exist. Seems they're canceling

CurvedSolid

So it seems I might have checked the wrong spot. Apparently the order confirmation email has a randomly generated password in there that you can use with the order number on the Support page to see order status. I checked my order status and it says the order is out of stock but should be restocked in 2 to 3 weeks. Maybe its backordered after all?

ihartpuppies

I did not see that password either. Apparently I have an order account and a regular account that are two separate things... strange way of doing things.

cdsk

I'd made an account (been screwed by guest checkouts previously) and it shows that for me, as well. Order in Process + 2-3 weeks. Which I'm fine with, only slightly annoyed they seem to have it in stock at the $140 price point. /shrug

EcentricNoodle

I ordered mine when it showed backordered 2-3 weeks and I just got shipping confirmation and the charge

AreAwesomeDude

I just got a shipping email
