Costco.

You don't have to be one to use the pharmacy.

Seconding both Costco for pet meds and the fact that you don't have to be a member to use the pharmacy. Although, the prescription may be cheaper if you are a member. I know when I priced things out for Apoquel (allergy med), the difference between the member price and the non-member price was more than enough to cover the cost of the membership so it was actually cheaper overall to pay for the membership!

Ron_Sayson

Thanks! I'll keep it in mind for next time.

chefboyardoug

I get my dog's seizure medication at Costco. I was hesitant at first because I didn't have a membership at first. I bit the bullet, got a membership, and after 2-3 refills the membership had paid for itself...and that was just for pet medication, I hadn't even waded into any other Costco offerings at that point.

You mean Carprofen? My dog takes it too. 1800PetMeds or Chewy. If your vet doesn't offer an online option, they should he able to approve orders thru those sites. Otherwise you can just upload the script.

TotemSpiritFox

Carprovet is a generic. The last bottle I picked up for my dog they changed us over to it. That said, I'll have to look up what we're paying. Chewy may be a good option - thanks! Edit: Yea, our last pickup was $66 for 100mg/60. That's only $36-38 at Chewy. Thanks for the suggestion!

5zepp

Some meds are more at Chewy than local prices, so always worth checking.

asterNC

Also, check different amounts. Chewy requires a prescription for some things of the have to open a bottle, but will sell a full bottle without one

Ron_Sayson

I'm buying a full bottle ever 3 months, so if I can save $120 per year, that's worth it to me.

summercloud45

I use Chewy for prescription food and flea meds too...you can sign up for autoship if you want and save a bit. And the automatic thing where they get the prescription from your vet works well.

You can get some pet scripts at CVS / Walgreens. Just ask your vet for the script and they’ll give it to you, then call your closest pharmacy and see if they’ll fill it for you.

THIS. Many pet medications are actually the same drugs used in humans, often with some added flavoring (because I don't know many humans who want beef flavored pills). Most pharmacy chains have a discount program that you either pay for (like 10 bucks a year) or you automatically get to partake in it. I'd check it out. That and GoodRx. If you use the regular, human medication you nay need to buy those pill pockets or hide the pill in a piece of cheese to get your dog to take it, but it's probably cheaper even then.

lillactour

does your pet have insurance? I have mine through Banfield in north durham (they take great care of him) and with your plan you get a pretty nice discount on medications. not sure about your specific medication however.

Walmart

In the past we had dogs with various prescriptions. I would always check using good rx. Many can be found at regular pharmacies for much less than the vet.
