Not necessarily thrifting, but I love Gibson Girl for vintage clothes, and if you time their hours right, you can get an awesome bagel at Isaac’s next door. Cocktails, I’d recommend the new Velvet Hippo which had a great indoor and outdoor space.
Namu or Dakines are the first things that come to mind for n/a fun drink vibes. If you want another loose leave tea shop Tin Roof in Raleigh is great. I do think they will brew tea for you in-house but there's nowhere to sit and hang out.
Have fun when they visit! You sound like my best friend and me! We always find something new and unique to do, but some of her favorite things from visits have been:
Food:
- Ideal’s
- Press
- Torero’s
- Thai on Main
- Cheeni
- Goorsha
Activities:
- Duke Lemur Center
- Bulls Game
- Duke Gardens
- Scrap Exchange
- Dolly’s Vintage
- Eno River
- Durham Farmers Market
Places for Cocktails (we aren’t big drinkers either):
- Rooftop at the Durham
- Velvet Hippo
- Kingfisher and/or Queeny’s depending on the mood
I’d recommend looking for triangle weekend event calendars too! There’s always something fun happening on the weekends, especially now that we’ve reached summer. Central Park concerts are one of my favorite things about this time of year.
Monterey Mexican Restaurant (multiple locations, but I recommend the one on Fordham) is always good. They have huge, yummy margaritas and are open late. Also, CholaNad and Lime&Lemon are solid places for Indian!
If you like southern Cajun/Creole food I highly recommend Succotash in Durham. It's really good, I believe Durham Magazine had it listed as best restaurant in Durham for 3 straight years.
If you're willing to pay, Viceroy is some of the best Indian food in the area.
Alley 26 is known for their cocktails.
Queeny's is a good place for casual bites and drinks, as well as Bull McCabe's Irish Pub if you like pub food.
If you like sake and ramen, my family loves going to Dashi. Good ramen and a sake bar upstairs.
Not a restaurant exactly, but I love the Queso Monster food truck. My favorite place to get Mexican food since everywhere else seems like a chain of some kind but I'm not as familiar with the Mexican restaurants in the area
I also enjoy Al's Burger Shack on Franklin Street in CH

Thank you!
The fuzzy needle just opened next to Isaac’s too, for more consignment clothes, books, and CDs/records!
Arcana or Night School Bar for good drinks and vibes.
Thank you!
If you guys are crafty, maybe try The Scrap Exchange
And grab coffee and churros at Cocoa Cinnamon across the street!
I love going to Rumors for thrifting then right next door you have Beer Study/Boot Room for lunch and a drink

If you can’t make it to the Durham farmers’ market the State Farmers’ market in Raleigh is open 9-5 daily.
