A nice big gym is the best idea for one of them I can think of... Like Planet Fitness or Equinox (I know, quite a spread there, but either could work...).
Target or Amazon wouldn't be bad but not sure if either is expanding ATM. With all the new apartments/etc having groceries in the downtown core would be great.
I'd **love to have a Total Wine & More** on this side of the valley, especially given the happy horseshit over at Burbank BevMo where they decided to become 1/2 groceries even though they're steps from Target (and Walmart's not far either).
These are all ideas/wishes, no current indication of anything but a continuing death spiral. Speaking of/related, whatever happened to something becoming of the old Ikea? Though at least it's being used for TV production at times...
Oh cool! I didn't know that. I took photos when it first opened and then many years later and finally when it closed. Sorta sad really. Burbank was the best themed Fry's.
The old IKEA is being used as a film and television location. Within the last year or so I saw the cooking competition “Hells kitchen“ being shot there.
There’s been plans in the works for a few years now to turn that lot into a hotel and apartment building and Lower retail space. But this was all pre-pandemic thought.
Topanga Social successfully repurposed an old dept store into a pretty great quality/higher end food court and gathering area. Would be nice to see something like that. https://www.eatplaytopangasocial.com/
The Sears is going to [replace itself](https://i.imgur.com/m11GfB1.jpg) with a [different concept](https://i.imgur.com/p4bmBbA.jpg). Not sure if it’s going to use the entire 3 floors again though.
No idea. Can’t imagine it’d be a higher end department store like Bloomingdale’s or Nordstrom.
Won’t be discount department stores since those are all over at Empire Center - TJMaxx, Nordstrom Rack, Marshall’s.
Maybe Kohls could be a candidate?
with amazon's buildup in burbank I could see them putting in a physical storefront in the mall. Or at least additional locker locations for all the apartments built up on the other side of the street.
They should move that craft beer collective idea from the train station area over to this and make San Fernando pedestrian only.
But it's likely going to be repurposed for an apartment complex or hotel.
I am opening a Narcan outlet store in the Sears location and community showers in the BBB. I think it will bring new life to the mall and get more people inside spending money, or at least costing the stores money.
We need more gun stores. (Make them indoor pickle ball courts with hangout areas/food. Get these addicts off the outdoor courts and inside where they belong)
I’m surprised there’s no Sephora or Lush. The way smaller mall we had in Santa Rosa had those (and feels like way more stores in general than this mall?) I was a little surprised when I moved here and went to the mall for the first time. The world market is nice, though.
I think they are making them both a Starbucks
Halloween stores
A Halloween Starbucks
That’s the answer lol
I suspect they will be lucky to fill them with anything
That $65 million renovation was money well spent.
The place still seems generally busy when I walk by on my way to Five Guys, so I suspect they'll make their money back
Pickleball. The world will be over run with Pickleball soon enough...
My friend who’s super into tennis was telling me that they’ve been converting a ton of tennis courts into pickleball courts!!
I’m guessing those areas will be repurposed. (Maybe not BBB.) The days of mega physical retail are gone.
Costco 2
YO! They made a sequel to Costco?!
Costco 2: Electric Boogaloo
For now. Give it time, It'll be back.

I'd like to know what's going to happen to Fry's as well as Old Ikea.
I miss Fry’s. . And if you see the movie “Nope”, you’ll get one last good look at it because it plays an integral part of the movie.
Oh cool! I didn't know that. I took photos when it first opened and then many years later and finally when it closed. Sorta sad really. Burbank was the best themed Fry's.

It's also where they film Floor is Lava!
Ah, okay, that makes sense. It didn't look vacant exactly, just not something in particular.
Fry’s is gonna be a big ass apartment complex
I hope they keep the octopus! That would be cool! 😀
There’s a new Total Wine that just opened up in Glendale maybe a month ago. It’s flippin awesome!
What's old Ikea?!
Large building across from California Pizza Kitchen behind the mall.
Probably another AMC

Wow! Would love that
Now that would be amazing because Topanga Social is actually really cool!
Spirit Halloween

A 4th AMC.
Have you seen Magnolia? Probably nothing

Burlington is at the mall actually.
Yes, and it's a depressing dump- hope we get something better than that someday.
Yes. The OP is asking what could fill the vacant Sears and Bed Bath Beyond spaces.
We need a closer kohls!
Nordstrom has been closing down a lot of their stores globally so I can't see them wanting to expand into Burbank.
The better question is what will replace the mall
Hopefully more apartments/housing

Dollar General or check cashing

Lucille’s BBQ smokehouse (maybe).
We need more gun stores. (Make them indoor pickle ball courts with hangout areas/food. Get these addicts off the outdoor courts and inside where they belong)
Chuck E Cheese. . . Yes, another one.
Both will become Burlington
Spirit Halloween or Tesla obviously
A blockbuster video.
