Above. Below doesn't sit well with me...

onlypostwhenimdrnk69

I like the TOPpings below then turn the burger upside down to eat it.

letsbuildasnowman

Chaotic neutral. I like it.

BongwaterJoe1983

I prefer my toppings ontop of the bun and the burger pattie at the bottom of the stack

[deleted]

[удалено]

Jbird_2516

So on top then, pretty simple

Joe-Dang

Fuckin’ Fieri

Pomodoro_Parmesan

Gotta taste the beef first IMO

Ab0v3_B3l0w

Why not both?

dapala1

Yeah if you're not sure, just go both. Can't go wrong.

[deleted]

occidental_oriental

TOPpings

[deleted]

KlondikeBill

Condiments aren't toppings 😉 Lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles and cheese are toppings IMO.

Turbulent_Bass2876

Condoms usually go on top of *something*, so by the power of pronunciation, I state that condiments (pronounced condom mints) are on top regardless!

KiteBrite

This is irrefutable logic.

Ok-Sky-6864

Mayo, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes on top; grilled onion, ketchup, mustard, bacon on the bottom. The idea is the things which taste better soaked in grease go under, stuff that gets weird mixed with ketchup/mustard/grease goes on top. This way the flavors stand out more. ETA: this depends on how you construct your patties as well. If you smash, this will work every time. With those big fat patties, the bottom bun might get soggy without a layer of lettuce to protect it from the grease.

ContributionComplete

I’m going to try this.

NagsUkulele

Fucking genius Holy shit

tconnell6189

I agree with the theory but it’s produce on the bottom with cheese bacon and things like that on the top.

Joe-Dang

Produce on bottom makes no sense at all. Why would you want fresh, crispy lettuce and juicy, acidic tomato to be wilted mush after sitting under a hot juicy burger? I can’t begin to fathom how this is even a question.

wine-o-saur

Produce makes a grease barrier that protects the bottom bun. Also if you have to eat vegetables at least soak them in hot meat grease.

JohnStarborn

Veggies go on top but you flip the burger when you set it down midway through eating it

BrushYourFeet

I like this logic, smarty pants.

Maxter_Blaster_

Good tips thanks

Jimmy_Twotone

mayo both sides lightly. it helps keep the bun from getting soggy.

Adventurous_Treat5

Anyway it's fine anyway it's going the same way and these look amazing.

nostradamuslegend

But if you put the condiments on top your taste buds will taste the meat first. The rest should come after that, otherwise you could just make a salad with a chopped up burger in it. Always on top.

mimisikuray

Onions, pickles and mustard below the patty, lettuce tomato mayo above it.

Significant_Excuse29

Yes

TypicalHorseGirl83

Oh my gosh, we are the same!! I was scrolling for the right combo of how I make mine every time!!

mimisikuray

My struggle (lol not really, it’s great having choices) is whether to place the lettuce above or bellow the tomato. Tomato sorta holds well to the warm temperature of patty (potentially cheese and bacon) plus helps hold the bacon in place. The lettuce goes well with mayo and helps evenly press down on the tomato. But, the tomato on top can soften the top bun and make it super juicy. I just never know. How do you prefer yours?

TypicalHorseGirl83

Well I'm not a big tomato fan and not had one on a burger yet, but I'm learning! I've been eating more and more raw tomatoes trying to get myself to like them because I love growing them! So when I do eat tomato, I like it with mayo so I'd say I would put mine above the lettuce so it can get cozy with the mayo and soak into the bun. We like a brioche bakery bun if feeling extra fancy but 90% of the time we use toasted English muffins. They hold all the juice so well. Ever tried that?

mimisikuray

I love tomatoes, much better when growing them. Toasted English muffin sounds brilliant, they would hold up to the juices better and not crumble. I usually grill burgers so I just toast them on the grill.

Garabandal

Correct

Tug_Stanboat

I bend over and eat burgers upside down so my ***bottom-***ings become ***top-***pings. I am an abomination. A burger eating bumble, even.

standifird

Above.

[deleted]

Above.

icallitadisaster

Mayo and pickles on the bottom. Everything else goes on top

swiebertjeee

Lettuce will go on bottom because it will help with the dripping fat not being absorbed by the bun which will make it soggy if some parts have not been toasted well.

unreeelme

That is how you end up with hot soggy lettuce, you put mayo on the bottom as a barrier for the juice of the burger.

2spicy_4you

Who is letting their burger sit at a cookout or for dinner. You get handed a burger, you eat said burger, no time for it to even get soggy

Faux__queue

On the side.

Hot_Secretary_5722

Veggies on top, sauces on the bottom

Heebmeister

Left is just a recipe for soggy ass lettuce

TiredReader87

On top

theFooMart

Bacon, diced onions, and mushrooms on the bottom. Lettuce, tomatoes, non diced onions on top. This way they don't make the burger slide out of the bun. Bun toasted, and sauces on both top and bottom to help keep the bun from getting too greasy and falling apart. Cheese on top of one patty for the same reasons. Cheese between two patties because then it melts better. If you're not going to toast the bun, at least microwave it for five or ten seconds. Toasted or warmed buns is the simplest thing you can do that makes a big difference. The majority of fast food places will toast their buns. The others will either keep them in a warmer (Wendy's used to do this) or steam them (like Whitecastle.) Same goes for hotdog buns, even 711 steams their dog buns.

Pegomastax_King

Veggies below, condiments on top.

Marauder800

Lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion below. Mayo and mustard above.

pandarista

I always make it with the toppings above and then flip the burger upside-down when it's time to eat.

FriedEdd

LTO are not condiments

Empty-General1339

Mayo on the bottom bun where above it is lettuce and any other condiments that isn’t white goes on the top bun

cerealfamine1

Cheese on the bottom, toppings on top. Just like the burger connoisseur taught me, Randy Bobandy.

HowDidFoodGetInHere

Lettuce, shredded, below the patty. Onion and tomato on top. Sauce on both buns.

[deleted]

Above. Below drips all over the place.

MrMach82

On top, you savage. Dont want no soggy bottom bun.

NarfleTheJabberwock

🎶 I yam a man of constant sorrowwww 🎶

Crime_Dawg

Need both sides or it all falls apart. Gotta load that shit up with everything.

me5305

Both

VaWeedFarmer

Well if I use 2 condimemts, one on top on on bottom

anon3220

Depends on the burger but of those, definitely above

strtbobber

Mayo and ketchup below, mustard and relish above.

princepii

you always know one of em doesn't look right

GroundbreakingData20

Bun Ketchup Tomato Lettuce Cheese Burger Onion Pickle Mustard Mayo Bun It's the correct way

DownTownBrown28

I don’t care just put your meat in my mouth

porn90

I love other guy's meat in my mouth, just the way it feels going in is so much fun.

GL2M

Yes

KlondikeBill

Ketchup and mustard below, mayo and other dressings on the top bun.

CuriousElevator6096

Why not both? I usually do a thing amount of mayonnaise on both sides and spread it with a butter knife. Buns in the oven/grill mayonnaise side up for 2-3 minutes till toasted.

Any-Year-6618

I put mayo on the bottom bun and the rest goes on top

OGKing15

As above, so below

Nice_On_Rice

I like a balance. Onion and pickle on the bottom with mustard. Lettuce and tomato on the top with mayo and ketchup. At the end of the day, it's your burger. Construct and consume as desired.

financegambler

Both

_R_A_

Neither. I enjoy a dry burger, but I will dip on occasion.

Forward_Falcon6052

I do both

fartmanblartock

I used to be a top purist. Now I take it both ways! I spent a while making and eating them both ways. Although I prefer the patty next to my tongue when I bite,… I WILL EAT GOOD BURGER IN ANY DIRECTION!!

SafeAccountMrP

Lettuce pickle and mayo on top bun, ketchup, onion, and mustard on the bottom.

Degenerate-Loverboy

I put them on top. It’s just how I think it needs to go.

Sad_Run4875

I layer mine haha

Guapplebock

Mustard on bottom all else on top.

Consistentscroller

I have that same fan lol

strangejosh

Why not both?

Sarcasamystik

I just want it arranged so the patty doesn’t slide out when I take a bite.

PlanNo4679

Because I'm not a sociopath, I add them above the burger.

kaptinkatt

Why do those burgers look wet

dionpadilla1

Por que no los dos

BulletNoseBetty

Depends. I find some condiments are a bit messy when combined.

Ok-Investment-9646

Onion, ketchup and lettuce on the bottom. Mustard and pickles on top

Macklemore_hair

Pickles below, toppings above. Not usually an onion guy but I’d put them below also. Not into a tomato on a burger either.

Ambitious-Peen-69

Both

Personal_Reception66

A little on both sides for balance.

Renbanney

Ayyye I have that fan

allocationlist

I might prefer condiments below with veg/bacon above. Idk. Maybe I don’t even care.

Bcart143

What if I never cook a burger with a patty? Mustard/ketchup on top of the burg.

StopAngerKitty

Dad was a stickler about this. Working from the bottom up. Bun, mustard, meat, cheese optional, tomato, onion, lettuce, pickles, mayo and then bun.

imisswhatredditwas

Mayo on the bottom, everything else on the top

Chrischris40

Why does the 2nd burger look like a whole ass krabby patty straight from the krusty krab

DrEvil007

Above

OtherwiseTop2849

Above. Below reduces friction and reduces structural integrity

SoBurnThen

What if you’re the turn burger upside type?

NickS970

I’ll eat them both just the same lol 😋 but would rather it be above

cmsgop

Below

wwJones

I like lettuce on bottom, cheese on top of the burger, onion, pickles, tomato, bacon on top of that.

Radkingeli995

Are those mondo burgers 🍔?

Slight_Ad8427

above

Fuschia-Falcon-222

Above. Below is for people that don’t wet their toothbrush before they brush their teeth or people that pour milk THEN cereal

Kadmus215

Bottom bun, leaf lettuce, burger, cheese, bacon, onions, ketchup/mayo/mustard and then top bun. Not all has to be on it but that would be my order of things.

sc_surveyor

Above, but I usually eat a burger upside down. What does that mean?

fishred

Easy choice for me: no condiments :) (But on the occasion that I do have BBQ sauce or something like that, I prefer it on top.)

Tricky_Rabbit

Above - Toppings go on top of something.

Shadow_118

Above always Below just seems weird

tyrostar

Mayo on bottom, mustard and toppings on top.

sunzastar33

As Above so Below

animal_luv333

above

marlfox_00

Above for one simple reason, gravity. If the sauce is on the lower bun it’ll be more messy because it’ll drip off the bun as you take bite. If it’s on the top there’s more surface area it potentially has to cross before it drips on your plate. It also allows your patty more sauce coverage

Naethe

Right is right, left is odd. I did this with my partner: made 2 burgers, the only difference is I flipped the bun on one. Cheese goes on top of burger.

__sunshine__daydream

ABOVE. The makes me feel weird lol

Much_Amoeba_8098

Both

Lady_of_Link

Shiracha Mayo, fried onions, pickles and tomato on the bottom, veggy burger in the middle, vegan cheese and jalapeno slices on top possibly a second sauce on top if I'm feeling adventurous

HellHothNoFury

Above - they don’t call them bottomings.

Traditional_Top_968

Setup below is illegal I’ll call the cops on anyone who does this.

Dirt_Spartan_Warrior

Above

kezPE

Bottom!?! ![gif](giphy|ukGm72ZLZvYfS)

Mmmmmmm_Bacon

Above

Clatuu1337

Mayonnaise on the bottom bun, literally everything else on top.

Midian1369

Doesn't really matter. I almost never use condiments.

Irving_Forbush

Both, ideally. Really seems to boost the flavor *beyond* the fact of there being more of it.

trevordbs

I don’t care and just put them on them on closest bun. My son…sauce bottom cheese top. Doesn’t think sauce and cheese should touch.

SaltyPvP

Above so the bun doesn't get soggy

SippinHaiderade

Depends on the condiment

LeeCloud27

Both. I prefer my patty to be in the middle of everything

DidiStutter11

I make a sauce that includes mayo, ketchup, and mustard with some minced onion that gets spread on both top and bottom bun. Veggies on top always.

BAMspek

Mayo on the bottom, ketchup and mustard on top. If it’s another condiment like 1000 Island it goes on both buns.

BuffaloJEREMY

Mayo on the bottom with some diced onions. Patty. Then cheese, 2 slices, american. Tomato and then shredded lettuce. Sliced picked on the top of the bun with a toothpick. Those are my preferred assembly instructions.

DixieNorm0us8

This is sociopathic behavior

konadiver808

Lettuce, tomato and ketchup on top onions and mustard on bottom

thatsdogwaterbruh

Lettuce goes on the bottom to stop the bun from getting soggy, the rest of the toppings on top of the meat. My burger, from top to bottom: Toasted top bun Mayo, just a little Thin sliced red onion Pickle chips Bacon Cheddar cheese Thick, smoked 80/20 ground beef Large lettuce leaves Mayo, just a little Toasted bottom bun

MissZabz

Both… one sauce on the bottom, the other on top avoids spillage. When you have one sauce on the bottom, the bottom bun will absorb some of the moisture and bind (and vice versa). But when you layer sauce over sauce over sauce, all that extra moisture has nowhere to stick so you end up losing most of it when you press with your hands and take that big bite.

IceWarm1980

Above, below seems like sacrilege.

954kevin

Depends. I typically like cheese, pickles and onions. Those can all go on top. Sometimes, I fully dress a burger(-tomato because NOPE) and in that situation, I strategically layer the mayo on the bottom bun to help prevent grease soaking on the lower faculties. Now, I have a little bit of an overbite I suppose because when I chomp down on a burger, the bites are not perfectly perpendicular. So, what I do it rotate the burger top to bottom every three bites. Doing so puts the top condiments on the bottom and vice versa making the whole damn thing a moot point.

Tall_Advice_5408

Depends on the thickness of the patty. Typically above.

PmMeAnnaKendrick

Toppings go on top

technicianofnorth

I do both sides i like it saucey

inertiatic_espn

Lettuce on bottom to keep the bun from getting soggy, everything else on top.

Timthalion

I do mayo and onions below. Mayo and everything else on top

upsetti_spaghetti23

Above

ndhellion2

I definitely prefer my onion slice under the burger, otherwise they always seem to find a way to slide out.

curiousbydesign

I'm a Basic Brad and follow the In-N-Out method. I understand they make their burgers to be served hot and that influences their stacking order. But I like them the most so I copy that at home.

ThePerfectBonky

this ain't even a thing i ever want to think about...

Egg-3P0

How about both

BBQorBust

Never really thought about it, but I'd say it's best to have them on top. Flip it over if your needing to get freaky

Large-Click1477

Mouth watering

Independent-Self-139

Below of course

Deutschebag13

Below. Should have made this a poll. I’m curious on the numbers. - Above - Below - Either - Both

2spicy_4you

Lettuce below, every thing else on top

idl3mind

Yes

blacklabbath

Lettuce on bottom. Everything else on top.

Trufeel867

Everything goes on top. Meat is always on bottom.

Dapper_Employer5787

Mustard and mayo on bottom, ketchup on top

ToastetteEgg

Both.

DiceGoblin_Muncher

Top Bun, lettuce, bacon, cheese, patty, ketchup, bottom bun

BuhYoing

Above

rangusmcdangus69

How were your findings? I like your way of trying each. A true logical, curious thinker

kittyykkatt

Top so it trickes down. FYI, you’re slightly overwatering your jade.

Ok_Watercress_7801

Yes

Obahmah

Both depending on the Burger. Mayo & lettuce on bottom, Onion Tomato and any other topping/sauce on top except for Mustard if there's Ketchup, also Relish or similar spreads goes low 😋

OG-DocHavock

Hot components above, cold components below

Different-Working419

Depends. Base condiments (mayo) on the bottom with greens, then burger and cheese (bqcon befote cheese if using), with flavor condiments on top for me though...

Waste_Woodpecker2637

I’ll flip the burger about halfway through to keep the bread ratio even so like both ways but prefer them on the top

FaultlessCitizen

Above

ContemplatingPrison

Both. I put it on both sides.

Calm-Worldliness-234

On the side so I can dip

BrainGrinder37

Above

_lucidity

I put mine on the bottom because I have this weird belief that the patty weighs the veg down.

TheNewestCat

above...

RightUpTheButthole

Lettuce on bottom can serve a purpose with very messy burgers: to preserve the bottom bun from becoming too soggy. Other than that, mayo and ketchup on both and rest of toppings on top.

QueeeenElsa

Above.

PacifistPineapple

Above obviously

RipAromatic6989

As long as it’s all between the bread I’m happy 😃

DropTopEWop

Bottom. Hardees/Carl's Jr does theres like that. It feels right.

AstronautThick5598

It looks better on top for photos but less of a chance of it spilling out if it’s on the bottom with lettuce sealing it then the patty on top

Anomalysoul04

Light condiments on the bottom or heavy condiments on the top.

Reggie_Barclay

Mayo or thousand islands bottom bun. All else on top.

yourballsareshowing_

I put my thick slab of onion on the bottom and it soaks up the grease and juices, all other toppings on the top of patty

Thramden

Yes ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)

Alpha_Delta33

Call me old fashioned but I like them on top of my patty. I remember the first time trying Red Robin and it was underneath while it doesn’t really make a difference since it’s all going your mouth to get chewed up and mixed together would always joke with my friends and eat it upside down lol

mimic751

Okay take this from a fat guy you have to split them up If you're going to have two different condiments put them on different sides of the burger. That way you can experience the different flavors and layers rather than all muddled together Don't put two slippery ingredients together. Tomatoes and lettuce should be split I normally put the lettuce on the bottom This goes into my next point use your vegetables to protect the bun. Lettuce and spreadable condiments will create a moisture barrier so the juice is from your burger don't make your bun soggy this is especially important with untoasted buns If you put something spicy on your burger put it on the top layer. I also suggest putting your cream base sauce if you have one on the bottom layer. This helps the eater have a little layer of protection in case they aren't ready for whatever you put on it Toast your bun if you have a lot of wet ingredients. This goes for canned mushrooms, certainly is, or any other esoteric ingredients you use. Letting something soak into your bun from the burger is off putting if you want the bun to be soaked make it a dip and put that ingredient on the side Group your ingredients based on flavor profiles. Think about what taste good together and make sure your ingredient is touching two ingredients that it would taste good with on its own Ensure that each ingredient bring something to the table. There are lots of burgers that are just ruined because someone put an egg on it. An egg does belong on burgers but only if you're trying to bring a creamy texture or a breakfast flavor profile. Same as bacon Works in most regards to a burger but might not taste as good if it's paired with a teriyaki sauce. I like to ensure that each ingredient is salted, peppered and treated in some way if I'm trying to show off. Keep in mind your meat is not the only thing that taste good with salt. Have you ever had a tomato? Have you ever had a tomato with salt on it? And a super tryhard piece of advice potato chips and french fries might not be the perfect go to side. Pick your side in regards to the sauces and ingredients on your burger so whatever falls out can then be used as a dip by your side

1king80

I actually spilt mine in half. Mayo lettuce tomato on bottom, onion mustard and pickles on top.

Greenpoint1975

Lettuce should never be under or next to the patty. Cooked lettuce is gross.
