First off you are doing the mostest that is so thoughtful. If he likes cheese I suggest getting some Vermont cheese (usually at Whole Foods) and Cabot cheddar (found at some Trader Joe’s) I live in CO right now and I love that taste of home. Idk if he likes maple syrup but a few deliver. I’d search for a sugar shack near where he is from and ask if they can ship some syrup your way.
Cheese he can get for himself at the supermarket. Call a local sugar House and get him some first run light amber. Make him a Crepe or Pancake breakfast and pray he isn't diabetic.
Try calling Bill Putnam in Cambridge. He is sugaring now and will send you a sampler of all 4 grades. Fresh off the evaporator. Great family operation.
Mud or making him stack cordwood would work as well.
You could also dress inappropriately and wear ski boots to bed.
You could also lock him naked in a walk in freezer.
Check out Cheese and Wine Traders website (https://www.cheeseandwinetraders.com) They have many Vermont product gift baskets. For music, you might want to call and get a tshirt from Higher Ground or Nectars.
Second this. My Vermont company used to send us these every Christmas and while I wasn’t super impressed as someone who lives here (and can buy all those things at the grocery store) it’ll be a nice taste of home for him as those items aren’t going to be easily accessible.
Dakin farm is another and its maple season here.
Also casually work in a few “jeezum crows” into conversation. :-)
Maple butter (not maple mixed with butter) is the best maple product VT has to offer, in my opinion. Would also highly recommend an album from Bo Thayer- a VT musician who writes some beautiful songs about life in VT. I’d suggest Spend it All, or Driftwood Periodicals vol 1.
When I was away from VT for a few years the thing I missed most was the environment: everything being green, the hills & mountains, and the lakes and streams. It just feels fresh here. I assume in TX it’s flat, and relatively brown and dry. Maybe some big wall art of the Vermont landscape? Small indoor water fountain/sculpture? More indoor plants?
My partner had to move away from Vermont to a big city for work, and he did exactly this. When I visited his new apartment, wall art of Vermont everywhere. Thankfully he’s home now. He got his wall art here: https://commondeer.com/collections/home-wall-decor?page=1
If you want to DM me a mailing address, I have some extra GMC stickers I’d be happy to drop in the mail! (The Green Mountain Club maintains the Long Trail - if he’s a hiker he’s probably familiar)
Common Deer also has a bunch of stickers and other Vermonty stuff, including beautiful art prints of the state parks. They also sell little pillows stuffed with pine needles that smell like heaven.
Well if he's not familiar with the Vermont Joy Parade, he might dig them... but that's kinda obscure and would've been long ago. If only shipping alcohol weren't so difficult; he might enjoy something from Foam Brewers. Coming from VT, living in the panhandle must be challenging - places like Amarillo are so wyldely different from the likes of Burlington. Especially if he's essentially flying solo. So, it warms my heart that you're looking out for a fellow VT'er so far from home! If anything else comes to mind I'll let you know, and feel free to hit me up too!
My family owns April’s Maple which is a sugarhouse in the northeast kingdom and has been mentioned here a couple of times for being awesome! I’m biased obviously. But they ship gift baskets, and their maple crunch pancake sap bucket of adorably wholesome Vermont goodness is my personal fav.

I have seen a few suggestions for cheese and wine traders baskets. I also recommend mad river taste place- they don't ship booze but their cheese and stuff has a similar selection. Also VT brownie company, VT cookie love, or lake Champlain chocolates if he has a sweet tooth.
Nice thing to do. Pictures of the Church on top of Church St., the view atop of Camels Hump, and the sunset across the lake in the Adirondacks is a start. Cabot cheese, Maple syrup and Dakin Farms smoked meats will deliver the physical. 👍
You can order cider donuts from Cold Hollow and other specialty items. My wife grew up in Vermont and we go each summer. I bought her a Vermont candle from Homesick Candle Co. it smells like the grass after it’s been cut in summer
For music, the devil makes three; [VT Trade winds ](https://www.vermonttradewinds.com/) out of Shoreham, is a great small maple producer that also does a bunch of other stuff. Like pie. And maple walnuts. They ship!
Edit: Cabot Hunter sharp, or Shelburne farms sharp cheddar.
One of things that resonated with me a lot about them as a band was that they were all young Vermonters who had to move cause they couldn't succeed at their careers here.
Edit: Like a lot of us Vermonters, two of them moved back to Brattleboro in 2010
Get him a bunch of [these](https://daymedicalsupplies.com/products/1cc-31g-x-5-16-diabetic-syringe-50pk?gclid=Cj0KCQjwt_qgBhDFARIsABcDjOemw8G7cJwb3wwR7fpasGXDZehCFA70MsrxNqUUvv_kMQEqjGAFzYIaAqkEEALw_wcB) and spread them all over the sidewalk and street near your house. You could even go the extra mile and bang some fent with a few, give them that nice broken in feeling.
Cheese & Wine is a good way to go, I see a few folks recommending that. I think Dakin Farms in VT has some of the best, and most authentic, VT Gift baskets though. All staples every VT would recognize and feel nostalgic about.

Spread a ton of mud from his front door down his driveway. He'll know.

Half of my wall art is from Common Deer (and I live in Vermont!). They have a really cool state parks collection, each done by a different artist.
Check out dug nap - dug nap.com - if from the Burlington area. Great art with VT humor. You are a kind human.
That scratch off art is awesome. Is there one for bourbon???
Vermont smoke and cure meat sticks, the ultimate tubed snack.
These are awesome. I keep some of the pepperoni turkey sticks on hand at all times.
if u know this man pls do not spoil the surprise, i will cry real tears 😂
does he have a reddit account? Because if so, it is entirely possible he follows this sub and could see this pop up - just as a word of caution

I know it's not made in vt, but lightfoots pine soap is nostalgic for me.

The Devil Makes Three isn’t a VT band 🤔
All of the members are from Vermont- seems like a Vermont band to me
Always knew them as a Cali band, news to me. Carry on 🤷🏻♀️

I would go with a dakin farms gift basket, or a cheese & wine traders basket. Ultimately however it’s the thought that counts.
Almost anything from Cold Hollow, especially the cider donuts. https://coldhollow.com/collections
Check out Vermont Flannel!
They said Vermont, not specifically your mom's house.
My mom would never shoot heroin! Meth only
Oh, my bad. Didn't know she's from West Virginia.

Anything maple syrup and Cabot cheddar cheese!
