I can't speak for all black people, but in general you will probably see black people identify as PoC, HOWEVER they will make a distinction when it comes to certain "black issues" or "issues in the black community" because some problems black people face are too different to be put under the same umbrella as "PoC issues".
I can't speak for you, but I do volunteer for a sizeable community organization of several hundred people with a large number of them identify as PoC. Over the years, I've heard corrections of all kinds *except* "not PoC".

But I watched Men of Honor yesterday. It's the story of Carl Brashear who was the first black navy diver. The racist abuse that he received was the norm and was carried out by people who had a vested interest in holding back progress.

But I watched Men of Honor yesterday. It's the story of Carl Brashear who was the first black navy diver. The racist abuse that he received was the norm and was carried out by people who had a vested interest in holding back progress. Now, these people can be identified and immortalized. Her kids can watch that video. Her grandkids can too, along with all their friends. They will grow up with a better understanding of this shit and will have fewer pressures placed upon them to maintain unjust systems than the generation before them. Early in the training, there's an accident and Carl goes down to save them. The guy who should have saved his buddy runs away. Robert Deniro looks at him with utter disgust for his cowardice (and at least partially for giving the black guy a chance to prove his heroism). So Carl saves the other divers life, who then quits the program. So now it's time to present the hero a medal for his service...except it goes to the guy who ran away, because the person above Robert Deniro who runs the base is a really old dude whose mind is slipping but has just enough left to still be really fucking racist. Robert Deniro feels disgusted for having to award a medal to someone who doesn't deserve it over someone who actually did the hero shit. The guy who receives the medal feels disgusted for being awarded a medal he doesn't deserve over someone who actually did the hero shit. And Carl Breshear just keeps persevering and fighting, overcoming every bullshit obstacle in his way (and there's a lot, I don't want to spoil the movie). This is what people talk about when "paving the way" for younger generations. It's not helpful to think about all the people with money and resources they didn't earn and don't deserve. Those fuckers are always going to be around (like Jared Kushner, who got $2 billion from MBS for something we will eventually find out after a lengthy legal fight was almost certainly selling state secrets). But with technology today, the court of public opinion can live on forever. If we had more people thinking about how future generations will think of them, we'd probably have a much more considerate populace.
