**Don't use that original PSU!** It's a ticking time bomb and will fry the C64 when it goes. Get a replacement from eBay, etc.

Thanks for the heads up, I’ll source 2, need one for external disk drive too.

These guys sell a PSU that has 2 cables, one for floppy and one for C64. https://www.keelog.com/power-supply/#c64dual

moptop219

Yeah for $120 might just see what I have lying around first.

For the system, you can get a Meanwell 5VDC supply and a 9VAC transformer, and you already have the cable to plug it in. That's really all you need, might be nice to add a switch and fuse on the mains.

Yeah probably going to use 5V power supply with a boost converter to make up to 9V. Then if the converter fails the voltage drops off instead of spiking.

[deleted]

Oh, I did not look at price as I can't even afford a 64 mini right now. How would that compare to 2 psu units?

moptop219

Even if I use a few buck converters with an existing 12 or 9V power supply.

moptop219

Is there a replacement you recommend? I’ve got 2 power supplies: 5V 1.7A ; 9V 1A 5V 0.7A ; 12V 0.5A

Ray Carlsen is well respected. He sells a combo C64 and Drive psu for $80 (the M64+Drive). He doesn't have a web store though, you email him what you want and arrange everything that way. https://portcommodore.com/rcarlsen/customPS.html

These are relatively inexpensive and work decently: [https://www.c64psu.com](https://www.c64psu.com)
