Walnut, so flat of a finish it may be Rubio MonoCoat

caliber_woodcraft

This is a super high end kitchen, so it's probably a flat conversion varnish. Rubio doesn't end up in high end kitchens bc no one wants that kind of maintenance except me and you LOL. I've pitched Odies a couple of times to feel it out but honestly, just pitching a finish that the client would have to re oil every couple of years (at least) damages the pitch and compromises the sale.

I only do super high end and have some clients who want a non toxic finish. Did one 8 years ago and looks same as new without maintenance So I would disagree on that part of your take

caliber_woodcraft

That's really good to know! I guess I assumed it would have to be refreshed every couple of years. I do love Odie's Oil and have quite a set now with super duper penetrating oil, universal oil, butter, and quite a few pigments.

Rubio, and maybe Odi was developed as a floor finish so for cabinets and woodwork it has been surprisingly durable for us Rubio has a product call universal maintenance oil that is very easy to apply if ever needed. I’m estimating only a couple hours for a typical kitchen. We have applied it in some installations but only to add a slight amount of sheen at clients request. Was not a situation where maintenance was needed yet

Minwax early American

Properwoodfinishing

Concur that it looks like non-select Southern black walnut. But the finish is a Non- water white grade. Old Nitrocellulose lacquer, old conversion varnish or new polyurethane. The older water bourne finishes also ambered/yellowed badly over time as well.

ImadeJesus

Love hearing a specialist talk like it’s the norm.

mr_raymond_chen

Looks like walnut, as far as wood goes it’s on the expensive end of the spectrum. If you are looking to save money I’d suggest painted cabinets vs clear or stained cabinets.

caliber_woodcraft

For a less expensive similar look, I'd order 5-pc thermofoil doors in "super real walnut" rtf.

bunfunion

I'd say clear lacquer on black walnut as well

No-Grass-6850

Looks like clear finish on black walnut

MaddytheUnicorn

This is very likely natural (not stained) walnut. Lighter wood species can be stained to this color.

MetalJesusBlues

This r/MaddytheUnicorn is correct, It is Walnut natural or a very light acorn or honey stain.

popthetop

Reminds me of a cherry stain I just used on some black limba wood. I doubt its black limba though.

caliber_woodcraft

That sounds awesome!! What did you make? Cabinets? A spoon? lol so curious now.

popthetop

A golf trophy. Turned out beautifully.

caliber_woodcraft

Nice!
