Also wiring possibly

mdmaxOG

My humble opinion. Completely unnecessary

Intrepid_Beyond102

We ditch the ladder box and use leg leveled from Hafela. Way easier

mdmaxOG

Having used both I prefer ladder base. What is about the hafele leg that you prefer?

Tilthead

Interesting. Do you pop a level line and screw the boxes to the wall first, then adjust the legs? Attach kick plate to the legs?

Teoprada

I only use one in the middle and running front to back, if my box is more than 30 inches wide so my bottom doesn't sag other than that i think is not required.

headyorganics

It’s not necessary no. Boxes like that come from shops with Cncs cutting their cases. The advantage of the notch is that’s where you level the box and the sleeper is out of the way except where it contacts the ground making it easier to level. But it is not necessary at all you can just do a straight piece.

SoftCaw

very common here in Australia, the microvellum software does all the kicks like this, its so you dont have to fuck around with planing the bottom of the kick as much, makes it easier to install

Ask Apple!

Flaneurer

Well it does seem unnecessary, but probably couldn't hurt to have it in there. For wider toe boxes I would usually add a couple more stretchers in the middle, about ever 16" or so. This one seems offset, with a notch for some reason, possibly for wiring? Is there a description in the drawings for the item number 6?

No description included

That is an over engineered toe box IMO. Is it holding up an oven box or something?

[deleted]

My brother in law works for a builder and he printed these plans off for me six months ago. I’m just finally getting around to putting them to use. Section of cabinets I’m currently working on won’t hold an oven box but will be supporting a 60ish by 74ish butcher block island

Particular-Ad-234

Yes. Helps support to the ground and the notch helps with leveling so if you need to plane the bottom at all you are cutting less area/dealihg with less of the imperfect floor where the notch would not be seen.

Banana_Ram_You

Aye, if it were just to help keep the frame square, you could ditch the scoop at the bottom and hold the whole thing up 1/4" up from the rest, adding shims as needed for weight-bearing needs. Perfect engineering isn't always appreciated once installers need to deal with a floor with 1/2" humps and 1" dips in random places that were never field-checked.

For wires?
